Chapter 803: The Best Time to Attack the Ministry of Magic!
Chapter 803: The Best Time to Attack the Ministry of Magic!
Ivan followed the voice and saw a middle-aged male wizard in a ragged state poking his head out of a window in one of the cells on the right. His hair, unwashed for over a decade, was a mess, and his face was covered in dirt and dried blood.
"Augustus?" Ivan compared the man's face, marked by prominent scars, to the information in his mind and quickly identified him. He immediately cast a spell to blast open the cell door.
The wizard named Augustus, visibly moved, opened the door and stumbled toward Ivan, kissing his robe. He looked up with trembling lips and said, "Fifteen years... Fifteen long years... Master, you actually remember me..."
"Of course, Augustus. I never forget anyone loyal to me!" Ivan, not minding Augustus's filthy appearance after years without a bath, warmly helped him up and then asked, "What about Bellatrix and the others?"
Tears welled up in Augustus's eyes as he quickly responded, "Master, Bella and Dolohov are being held deeper in the prison..."
Ivan nodded. He had already gathered some information about Azkaban; the most dangerous prisoners were usually kept in the deepest cells.
Augustus, who had been a Ministry of Magic official before his imprisonment, had been jailed for leaking information to the Death Eaters. Given his relatively low threat level, he was kept in a cell closer to the entrance.
With this in mind, Ivan instructed Malfoy, Macnair, and others to split up and quickly rescue all the imprisoned Death Eaters.
As for the ordinary prisoners, Ivan granted amnesty to anyone willing to join their ranks, aiming to bolster their forces for the attack on the Ministry of Magic.
Lucius and his team worked efficiently. In just three minutes, over a hundred prisoners gathered, including seventy-one Death Eaters and more than fifty new faces willing to pledge their loyalty to the Dark Lord.
"My most loyal friends, congratulations on your freedom!" Ivan's pale, snake-like face broke into a smile as he greeted them warmly.
"I always knew you would return, Master!" Antonin Dolohov said excitedly.
"Two years ago, I foresaw this day..." Bellatrix, with her hair disheveled, shouted boastfully. "It was me... I helped Wormtail escape from Azkaban and forced him to find you, Master!"
"It was me!"
As she spoke, Bellatrix took a few steps closer, like a female animal seeking praise, her eyes filled with adoration as she looked at Ivan.
So, it was you, you damn fool, who helped Peter escape... Ivan's lips twitched, and he desperately wanted to slap this madwoman to death.
But, given his current position, Ivan had to suppress his urge. Using Legilimency, he reached out and gently stroked Bellatrix's face, speaking in a slightly magnetic voice, "You did well, Bella!"
"Of course, you all did well!" Ivan turned to the other Death Eaters, who looked haggard but increasingly deranged, and continued, "The Dark Lord will not spare any of his enemies, and he will not neglect any of his loyal followers!"
"I can feel your loyalty, and it sets you apart from those who need to atone for their sins..." Ivan added pointedly.
Bellatrix, Augustus, and a few others wore smug expressions, while the other Death Eaters glared at Lucius and his group with disdain and anger, resenting their past betrayal of the Dark Lord.
Macnair and Lucius, who were excellent actors, trembled and bowed their heads in fear.
Goyle and Crabbe, hidden in the crowd, almost burst out laughing but managed to pinch their thighs to maintain a more somber expression when they saw Ivan's menacing gaze.
Ivan shifted his gaze from Goyle and the others, turning back to the Death Eaters, and continued speaking.
"Perhaps some of you are wondering why, after regaining my powers over half a year ago, I didn't come to rescue my most loyal servants and friends immediately..."
"No, we all believe that you must have had a reason for only coming to our aid now!" Rodolphus Lestrange shouted fervently, completely unconcerned about Ivan's earlier intimate interaction with Bella.
"Exactly! You're clever, Lestrange... I delayed the rescue because I was waiting..." Ivan's tone grew more intense. "Waiting for a perfect opportunity! A chance to repay the suffering you've endured a thousandfold!"
"The time has come, hasn't it, Master?" Bella asked eagerly.
Augustus, Lestrange, and the others looked at Ivan with anticipation. Fifteen years of suffering had not diminished their will; instead, it had only intensified their hatred, making them desperate to exact revenge on the Aurors who had captured them.
"Of course, the fall of the Ministry of Magic is at hand today!" Ivan said fiercely. He then looked at Macnair and others, instructing them to distribute the wands.
These unclaimed wands had been prepared in advance, and it was thanks to the Wizarding Market's illegal wand trade that they could gather so many in such a short time.
"Too unwieldy..." Bella took a yew wand from Macnair, waved it forcefully a few times, and frowned.
"Your wands are confiscated at the Ministry of Magic. You can retrieve them once we're in!" Macnair shrugged, explaining.
"Master, are we really going to attack the Ministry of Magic now? Isn't that too risky..." Augustus, holding his wand, hesitated for a moment before finally voicing his concern.
While he wanted to kill everyone at the Ministry of Magic, he hadn't been completely blinded by his hatred. They had just left their cells, were in poor condition, and had unfamiliar wands, significantly reducing their combat effectiveness.
Attacking the heavily guarded Ministry of Magic with such a team would be tantamount to suicide...
Hearing Augustus's words, Rodolphus Lestrange and the Carrows, who had been full of enthusiasm, also began to waver.
Ivan was about to respond, but before he could, Bella had already lunged forward, grabbing Augustus by the collar and jabbing her wand into his face, snarling, "Are you questioning the Dark Lord's orders, Augustus?"
"No, Bella, you misunderstand!" Augustus shook his head in terror, quickly defending himself. "I have no intention of questioning Master, I just... I just can't quite understand..."
Lucius's lips curled into a smile. He saw his chance to shine and stepped forward, mocking, "Ignorant! Do you think Master is as foolish as you, Augustus?"
"Let me inform you, Wormtail and Snape have already taken the Dementors from Azkaban to distract the Aurors. The Ministry of Magic is now more vulnerable than ever, and they would never expect Master to lead us in a surprise attack!"
"Furthermore, we have Mrs. Edgecombe from the Floo Network Authority and an ally in the Department of Mysteries. The Ministry of Magic will receive no external aid today, and their defensive wards will all fail. This is indeed the best time to strike the Ministry of Magic!" Macnair added quickly.
