Chapter 802: Bestowing Upon You Eyes That See the World
Chapter 802: Bestowing Upon You Eyes That See the World
"He's gone..."
Hinata Hyuga stared in the direction where Feng Ye had disappeared, her mind only now beginning to recover its sharpness.
She turned to her sister, Hanabi, who stood motionless, her eyes fixed on the silver-white strand of hair that lay on the ground.
Hinata's gaze shifted to the distance.
Who was that man?
...
In a quiet forest, Feng Ye appeared with a little girl in tow, Sakura Haruno.
Even as they shifted locations in an instant, the entire world changed around them, yet Sakura remained frozen, her eyes wide and unblinking, unresponsive to the shift in their surroundings.
Feng Ye released her hand and casually pointed at Sakura.
Whoosh!
Sakura's dirty and tattered clothes shattered into pieces, and all the fleas and dust on her were shaken off into the air.
Feng Ye snapped his fingers.
The fragments of clothing, along with the dust and fleas, were enveloped in flames and instantly burned to ashes.
Feng Ye saw no need to conceal his power from Sakura, as he had no intention of simply setting her free like he did with Shinobu.
Moreover, it didn't matter to Sakura at this point, as her personality and self-awareness were almost completely isolated.
With a casual gesture, Feng Ye caused a clump of mud to fly up, then it began to cave in on itself, collapsing into its most basic particle form. It then recombined into elements, and with a weave of light, it transformed into a small, black and white outfit that draped over Sakura.
The style resembled the uniform of a Soul Society captain.
While it may not have been aesthetically pleasing for a young girl, that was of little importance.
"...A god?"
These words did not come from Sakura's mouth.
Even as Feng Ye displayed his incomprehensible power before her, akin to a divine miracle, her personality remained separate from her body, which showed no reaction.
Her eyes remained dull and lifeless.
This question arose from the depths of Sakura's being, and it was the first and only time she had shown a hint of conscious thought since their encounter.
Despite Sakura's body remaining still and her weak consciousness not manifesting outwardly, Feng Ye 'heard' her clearly.
He glanced at her with an easygoing expression.
"You can think of it that way."
His voice resonated directly in Sakura's heart.
This voice, echoing in the depths of her mind, caused a faint glimmer to appear in Sakura's eyes, which had been dull from the start.
She shifted her gaze slightly, looking at Feng Ye's face.
But she still didn't speak.
"No need to think, no need to doubt. Just follow me and observe."
Feng Ye spoke casually, patting her shoulder to indicate that she should sit down. He sat beside her and gently placed a hand on her head.
"In my name, I bestow upon you eyes that see this world."
His voice resonated on a spiritual level.
Sakura's body froze.
Her weak consciousness, barely registering any activity, also froze.
Feng Ye shared a fraction of his vision of the world with Sakura, or rather, he shared a portion of his perspective with her.
It was limited to this world.
Limited to the present, excluding the past and future.
Even so, this perspective was grand and awe-inspiring, akin to that of a deity. The entire world lay before them.
She could see the actions of all humans, their births and deaths, their joys and sorrows, the fluttering of a butterfly's wings, the roar of a tidal wave, and everything in between.
Such a vast amount of information flooded Sakura's consciousness like a tsunami.
This caused her soul to undergo multiple successive sublimations in an instant, transforming from fragile to incredibly sturdy, firmly anchoring her weak consciousness and personality at its core.
Feng Ye's experiment was straightforward.
Kanahu's state teetered on the brink of personality dissolution.
Had it not been for the rescue by her sister, Shinobu, and Hanabi Hyuga, and Tanjiro Kamado's efforts to open up her heart, she might have remained in that state indefinitely or even lost her personality entirely.
Now, Feng Ye intended to grant her a 'divine' perspective, inundating her with vast information about the world, elevating her to a realm akin to that of a creator.
In this state, would her personality completely vanish, transform into an emotionless byproduct of rules, or could she rely on the endless stream of information she received from the world to replenish her personality and restore her wholeness?
Either outcome would be beneficial to Feng Ye.
Time passed.
Kanahu sat there, her eyes reflecting a microcosm of the entire world.
The world unfurled before her like a scroll, and with each wave of her consciousness, she could discern the intricate patterns on a butterfly's wings and witness the majestic spectacle of a volcanic eruption.
Every second brought a deluge of immense information.
Feng Ye watched from the sidelines, a smile gradually spreading across his face.
Kanahu's fragile personality didn't disintegrate under the onslaught of information; instead of merging with the world and becoming an emotionless rule, she maintained her state.
Of course, there was also no improvement.
She didn't rapidly develop a complete personality either.
For Feng Ye, the mere fact that the situation hadn't worsened was a positive outcome, and even maintaining the current state held valuable insights.
...
Meanwhile, on another front.
Shinobu and a somewhat dazed Hinata returned to the Butterfly Estate.
The events of the day had been so bizarre and incomprehensible that Hinata still seemed a bit bewildered.
"You look tired, Hinata. Why don't you take a break from training today and get some rest?" Shinobu suggested gently.
Hinata looked at her complexly.
Even though Shinobu had quickly regained her usual gentle smile, Hinata, as her sister, knew that it was just a facade.
There was no way Shinobu's heart hadn't been shaken by what had transpired.
In fact, as the older sister and a pillar, the impact on her must have been far greater!
Yet, she still found the strength to offer Hinata comfort.
In this regard, Hinata knew she fell far short of her sister.
"Yeah..." Hinata wanted to say something, but after several attempts, she simply nodded complexly and said, "You should get some rest, too, Sister."
Then she turned and walked towards her room.
Shinobu smiled and watched Hinata leave.
Only after Hinata had disappeared from view did the smile fade from Shinobu's face, replaced by a look of calm. She lifted her right hand and opened her palm.
Resting in her palm was a single silver-white strand of hair.
"Is it... really just a strand of hair?" Shinobu wondered aloud as scenes from earlier flashed through her mind—Feng Ye gently plucking a hair from his head.
