Chapter 801: You're Not Human (Second Update)
Chapter 801: You're Not Human (Second Update)
"If a big bat can talk, it's pretty normal for a cat like me to talk too."
Seeing Batman's wide, surprised eyes, Jerry couldn't help but crack a joke.
Bruce Wayne, during the day, is Gotham City's wealthiest playboy, but at night, he transforms into Batman to fight crime.
Jerry actually has a lot of respect for Bruce.
A man at the pinnacle of wealth and power, willing to risk his life to fight crime, hoping to improve this city that's as bad as dog shit, all by himself.
Especially since Bruce is just an ordinary person with no superpowers.
However, respect is one thing, but Jerry doesn't agree with Bruce's methods, particularly his no-killing policy.
While he knows Bruce is afraid that killing might make him lose his moral compass and become the biggest criminal in Gotham, and that it's also to uphold his sense of justice, the result of only capturing and not killing means that these criminals often find ways to escape from prison and mental institutions, only to commit more crimes.
In the end, not only do they harm themselves, but they also endanger their friends.
Of course, everyone has different experiences and beliefs. Jerry doesn't expect or need to change Batman's ideology, as long as Batman doesn't interfere with his efforts to earn red stars and regain his strength.
"I'm not a big bat, I'm a human, and you're not human."
Bruce thought about Jerry's words for a moment before responding.
Having never owned a cat before, and this being his first time talking to one, Bruce wasn't sure how to interpret a cat's mindset. He assumed Jerry had mistaken him for a bat, so he responded seriously.
"You're not human, your whole family isn't human!"
Jerry's lips curled. How did a simple joke turn into an insult?
"Alright, I know you're not a big bat, it was just a joke. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."
Spreading his small wings, he planned to return to the hotel to digest the red stars he had earned today.
However, just as he took off, a bat-dart came flying at him.
"You can't leave. Tell me why you killed them and where you came from."
A cat that could talk, fly, and instantly kill eight vicious criminals—if he didn't understand its origins and motives, allowing it to roam free in Gotham City would be too dangerous.
Dodging the bat-dart, Jerry reluctantly landed again.
"It's simple. Those people were bad, and you know that better than I do. Their crimes are enough to deserve death many times over. I was also trying to save someone. As for my origins, it's none of your business."
"They are indeed criminals, but they shouldn't be killed. They should be handed over to the law and spend the rest of their lives in prison. What you did..."
Hearing that Jerry had acted to save someone, Bruce's furrowed brow eased slightly, and he began to lecture Jerry on his principles.
However, he was cut off halfway by Jerry's voice.
"Stop, stop, stop. I know all that. Get to the point. What do you want?"
"I want to take you to the police station!"
Bruce hesitated for a moment before answering.
He couldn't determine whether the cat was telling the truth or lying. Even if it was the truth, a cat so dangerous couldn't be left unchecked.
Hearing Bruce's response, Jerry wasn't entirely surprised.
"You want to take me to the police station and tell them a cat the size of a palm killed eight people?"
"The drone recorded your killings just now."
Bruce pointed to the drone that Jerry had pulled down with his tail.
Jerry extended a cat claw and swiped at the drone, which instantly shattered into pieces.
"Now it's gone."
"The footage has already been transmitted to my main computer. Destroying the drone won't help, and the video of our current conversation has also been recorded and sent to the mainframe."
Bruce's lips twitched as he looked at Jerry's cat claw, which had extended to about ten centimeters.
This cat is too dangerous!
"If you keep this up, I'll tell everyone at the police station that your real identity is Bruce Wayne."
Jerry replied indifferently.
Bruce's body stiffened, and he stared at Jerry with wide eyes.
"I don't know what you're talking about, and no one will believe you anyway."
"Alright, if you can catch me, I'll go with you to the police station."
Jerry flapped his small wings and took off again.
In truth, he didn't care at all about Batman trying to catch him. Even with his current strength, Batman was no match for him. Superman was more of a challenge.
The more criminals he killed, the faster he would recover his strength, and the less Batman would be able to do about it.
Batman can stand up to Superman because Superman has weaknesses—Kryptonite, family, and psychological vulnerabilities. In a real fight, especially a surprise attack, Batman would be quickly defeated by Superman.
However, Jerry had no reason to kill Batman. Unlike Nick Fury, Batman was indeed a good person.
Jerry was more lenient with those who posed no threat to him.
Another series of bat-darts flew toward Jerry, and this time Batman himself leaped at him, trying to grab Jerry while he was dodging the darts and then use a shock device from his bat-belt to incapacitate him.
Of course, he didn't forget to be wary of the arrows Jerry had used to kill people, which could appear at any moment.
But Batman's bat-suit was made of special material that could even stop bullets. The steel arrows, though sharp, might not cause much harm even if they hit him.
"Alright, I don't have time to play with you anymore. I'm leaving!"
Jerry didn't even bother to dodge the incoming bat-darts. With a couple of quick swipes of his cat claw, he sliced them into several pieces that fell to the ground.
As for Batman, who was flying at him like a giant bat, Jerry simply flicked his tail, wrapping it around Batman in a flash and then threw him back with a powerful toss.
Batman reacted quickly, pulling out a grapple gun from his belt and shooting a line toward the rooftop concrete, trying to use it to lunge at Jerry again.
But at that moment, a blue light struck Batman, and his body transformed into a cute, yellow Garfield cat, which landed in the batmobile with a bewildered look on its face.
Jerry had cast a transformation spell on him as he was being thrown.
Batman was just an ordinary human with no magical resistance. The transformation spell hit him without any resistance, and according to the spell's principles, once transformed into an animal, he would live with an animal's consciousness until he returned to human form.
Two minutes later, the yellow Garfield cat, which was licking itself, suddenly trembled and transformed back into Batman in his bat-suit.
By then, Jerry was long gone, vanished without a trace.
