Chapter 801: The Animation of the Beast Swordsman
Chapter 801: The Animation of the Beast Swordsman
Blind Battler's move seemed to have given Melo a significant boost in confidence. After all, this was an entirely new Beast Swordsman, transcending an entire era, and it was his most potent trump card at this moment.
"Beast Swordsman - Blind Battler's effect! When this card is successfully Special Summoned, Special Summon one 'Beast Swordsman' Fusion Monster from your Fusion Deck, except 'Beast Swordsman - Blind Battler,' without Tributing!"
"Another Beast Swordsman..."
Yugo understood.
"So that's how it is. The 'Beast Swordsman - Caesar,' which was just revived from the graveyard by Horse Battler, has returned to the Fusion Deck as it was used as fusion material for Blind Battler."
"Hahaha, not bad at all. You truly are the Duel King, understanding the situation so quickly."
Melo raised his arm triumphantly.
"Indeed, as the Duel King, I can now Special Summon Caesar without any fusion materials and without Tributing!"
Once again, let the king's might be displayed on the field!
"Beast Swordsman - Caesar, Summon!!!"
Blind Battler's sword blade slashed through the air, leaving a trail of red light. The surroundings seemed to transform into an ancient colosseum, and amidst the passionate screams, a storm arose, heralding the arrival of the Beast Swordsman's king!
[Beast Swordsman - Caesar, Attack 2400]
The effect of Caesar returning to the field was not negated this time. Melo grinned, "Therefore, the effect of Beast Swordsman - Caesar activates!
When this card is successfully Special Summoned, destroy up to two cards on the field!"
He pointed directly at two of Yugo's cards.
"Continuous Spell 'Flame Cannon' and Permanent Trap 'Hypergravity Net,' disappear together, you annoying things!"
Melo's entire face contorted in an abstract expression. But it wasn't entirely due to the darkness within him, like Osiris Red Youth, but also because of his excitement.
Finally! At last!
He, the proud possessor of the Beast Swordsman deck with transcendent power, had fought until now without a single battle occurring, not even managing to land a single blow on his opponent.
Who could understand this frustration and agony? But finally, it was coming to an end. With both Blind Battler and Caesar on the field, the opponent had no chance. No matter what stood in his way, he would blast through it all.
"Then, in response to Caesar's effect, I activate a Set card," Yugo said, "Trap Card 'Volcanic Power.'
Send 'Flame Cannon - Trident' from my field to the graveyard, and Special Summon 'Volcano Demon' from my hand or Deck! (Original Animation Card)
Melo furrowed his brows, "Sacrificing Flame Cannon in response to Caesar's attack?"
The churning lava devoured the Trident Cannon on Yugo's field, emitting a gurgling sound.
Like a waking volcano, the black smoke from the crater resembled an angry dragon, surging towards the sky.
The bonds of the earth's crust were torn apart, and the crimson lava flowed like boiling rage. As the molten rock gradually solidified, it formed a body with temperatures high enough to melt steel, its claws as sharp as sword blades, glinting with crimson light.
The lava that formed its long tail whipped up waves of heat and sparks, and the unquenchable flames atop its head burned fiercely.
Volcano Demon, Summon!
[Volcano Demon, Attack 3000]
This trap was an original animation card used to summon Volcano Demon and has not been made into an actual card. However, Volcano Demon itself has been released as a card, and by directly sending 'Flame Cannon - Trident' from the field to the graveyard, it can be Special Summoned.
In the animation, Ossein O'Brien has used both the actual card's summoning method and the animation's exclusive trap summoning, so both methods should be applicable.
"Its Attack is actually three thousand..."
Melo murmured, but then he smirked.
"Interesting. But now that the attack lockdown has been lifted, my Beast Swordsman has nothing to fear!
Battle! 'Sword Beast Caesar' attacks 'Volcano Demon'!"
[Sword Beast Caesar, Attack 2400]
Although it seemed like a futile attempt, Caesar, having received the command, didn't hesitate and swiftly launched a suicidal assault on the Volcano Demon.
However, as he initiated the attack, Yugo's gaze shifted towards Melo's Set card in the back row.
That was the card Melo had Set since the first turn, and it hadn't moved since then.
The Beast Swordsman deck relied on battles for its operation, so acquiring the effect of "cannot be destroyed by battle" was undoubtedly a crucial means to protect the Beast Swordsman, ensuring their survival and facilitating the deck's rotation.
In the first turn, Melo Summoned Shield Duel Beast and ended his turn by Setting a card. But Yugo didn't engage in battle; instead, he directly used Flame Cannon to destroy Shield Duel Beast. In fact, throughout the entire Duel, not a single direct battle had occurred between the two sides. Therefore, assuming it was a card to resist battle destruction, it indeed hadn't had the opportunity to be used.
As expected, just as Yugo had speculated.
"Activate Set card!" Melo declared, "Continuous Trap 'Duel Beast's Battle Scar'! As long as this card exists, my 'Beast Swordsman' on the field will not be destroyed by battle. But as a cost, all battle damage inflicted on my side by the Beast Swordsman will be doubled!" (Original Card)
Yugo raised an eyebrow.
Read the flawless edition in the 69 Book Bar! 6=9+Book Bar, the first to release this novel.
Wow, it's actually an exclusive animation card for Beast Swordsman.
This card, like Blind Duel Beast, is one of the forbidden weapons used by the 'Beast Warrior' from Duel Academy in Arc-V. However, while Blind Duel Beast received a physical card, this card did not.
Although Arc-V's animation wasn't that impressive, it certainly gave the Beast Swordsman, the former champion, a grand treatment.
The 'Beast Warrior', using Beast Swordsman, first defeated Crow from the Synchro Dimension who used the Black Feather Deck. Then, in a two-on-one Duel, it almost completely overwhelmed the protagonist, Kengo Youya, and his best friend, Sakaki Yuya, the protagonist of the series. Finally, Jack Atlas, the king of the Synchro Dimension, interrupted the Duel midway and, with Yuya's help, managed to defeat the 'Beast Warrior'.
"You even have a Beast Swordsman animation card," Yugo said, his expression growing more and more intense, "You've really made some amazing things at Fantasy International."
With so many great things, you've been too kind. It's quite embarrassing.
And since the Trap card is an animation card, Yugo boldly speculated that the Blind Duel Beast that appeared at this moment...
At this moment, Caesar had already crashed into the Volcano Demon. Although he was slapped away by the Volcano Demon's burning claws, the invisible barrier of the Trap protected Caesar, preventing him from being destroyed.
Of course, as a cost, Melo took double the battle damage. This Trap card brought benefits while also increasing the risk, and to some extent, it required the Duelist to use their body as a shield for the Beast Swordsman.
[Melo: LP 3500 → LP 2300]
Melo staggered back a few steps from the impact and spoke in a deep voice.
"Effect of Blind Duel Beast!
The Beast Swordsman Special Summoned by Blind Duel Beast's effect returns to its Fusion Deck after damage calculation.
Furthermore, as long as Blind Duel Beast remains on the field, when my Beast Swordsman returns to the Main Deck or Fusion Deck, Blind Duel Beast's Attack increases by the Attack of that monster!"
As expected.
Yugo narrowed his eyes, not surprised.
The "Blind Duel Beast" he faced also had an animation effect.
