Chapter 800: First Encounter with Batman (First Update)
Chapter 800: First Encounter with Batman (First Update)
Gotham, shrouded in dense fog, always had a peculiar smell of kerosene in the night air, and most of the buildings had an eccentric Gothic style.
Jerry stood on the rooftop of a clock tower:
"Scrying Eye!"
Suddenly, in the high sky above Gotham, a basketball-sized eye slowly appeared, with a red cross in the center.
The Scrying Eye was a Magic invented by Aisha's mother, Eileen. As its name suggests, it could investigate everything happening within a certain range.
Currently, Jerry's strength hadn't fully recovered, so he couldn't create an eye as large as a city to observe every detail of Gotham. However, the size he could manage was more than enough.
"Truly, Gotham."
Controlling the Scrying Eye, Jerry quickly scanned the area around the clock tower and soon discovered over a dozen ongoing crimes.
Theft, robbery, rape, drug trafficking, and gang fights—Gotham's nights were incredibly lively.
With a leap from the tower, he landed effortlessly on a nearby rooftop, transforming into a bolt of lightning in the darkness. The just cat began to clear the darkness from Gotham.
"Petri Charm!"
"Stun!"
"Arrow of Precision!"
"Dragon Arrow!"
For less severe crimes, Jerry used the Petrify and Stun spells. For more serious offenses, where he felt the criminals deserved it, he used the Arrow of Precision and Dragon Arrow.
Actually, the Killing Curse and Disarming Charm would be better, but they consumed too much Magic Power and weren't suitable for the current situation.
The Arrow of Precision and Dragon Arrow were much more efficient in terms of Magic Power usage.
Most importantly, the criminals were ordinary people, and he didn't need powerful spells to deal with them. Especially since he was now a cat, the criminals wouldn't be wary even if they saw him.
"Almost done!"
After handling over a dozen crimes and earning tens of thousands of Little Red Stars, Jerry checked his Magic Power and decided to return.
He was quite satisfied with his first day in Gotham.
At this rate, with the right training, he should be able to recover to the Heavenly Father Level within a year. Once he reached that level, he wouldn't have to hold back anymore.
Spreading a pair of small wings, Jerry flew toward the hotel while deep in thought.
However, as he passed a parking garage, he suddenly heard gunshots below. He looked down, his face showing surprise.
"Batman? No, Batman wouldn't use guns, and that costume is too cheap. Is it an imitator?"
Batman, due to the psychological trauma from his parents' murder by gunfire, generally avoided using guns in combat. Instead, he preferred Batarangs, hand-to-hand combat, and advanced technological weapons.
The group of Batman imitators was dealing with a powerful gang. Not only were they well-equipped, but they also had five or six vicious dogs.
The imitators quickly found themselves at a disadvantage, either pinned down by gunfire or being attacked by the dogs.
"Arrow of Precision!"
Landing on the fifth-floor railing of the parking garage, Jerry flicked his tail, and twelve steel arrows appeared out of thin air. Guided by his mental power, they swiftly shot toward the eight gang members firing guns and the four ferocious dogs.
Zzzt, zzzt, zzzt, zzzt, zzzt
A series of arrows piercing flesh sounded in rapid succession.
Eight men, who had been firing their guns, looked in disbelief at the steel arrows that had pierced their necks and emerged from the other side, as thick as thumbs, and they all collapsed to the ground.
The four vicious dogs that had been tearing at the scene were also pinned to the concrete floor by the steel arrows, silenced.
Jerry’s body was indeed much stronger than that of an average cat, but it still couldn’t withstand the damage from modern firearms. Therefore, to ensure safety, in situations like this, he always struck with lethal force, showing no mercy.
Five young men, dressed in cheap, homemade Batman costumes, were so terrified by the bizarre scene that they dropped their guns and limped away in their van, fleeing.
These five were admirers of Batman, finding the way he fought crime at night to be incredibly cool. So they had made similar outfits using hockey gear and bought guns.
The outcome was obvious: not everyone could be Batman, and not everyone who bought a gun could stand up to Gotham’s criminal underworld.
If Jerry hadn’t appeared, these five young men would have already become five corpses, chopped up and fed to the dogs.
“What’s this?”
Seeing the five young men flee, Jerry chuckled and shook his head. Just as he was about to spread his wings and leave, he noticed a tiny drone hovering above the garage building.
With a flick of his tail, which instantly grew from a few centimeters to several times its length, he hooked the drone and yanked it down forcefully.
He had been in this world for some time now. Since he couldn’t yet restore his human form, to enhance his self-preservation, he had made several modifications to his cat body while meditating and absorbing magic power.
For example, his tail could not only be used to cast spells but could also extend to serve in combat.
His claws, when needed, could grow to over ten centimeters, each marked with magic runes for "sharpness", "poison", and "hardness."
Even if his magic power was depleted, his magic-enhanced cat body was more than a match for most humans.
“Bat Symbol.”
After pulling the drone to his side and stepping on it, Jerry quickly noticed the hidden Bat Symbol.
Unlike the cheap imitations worn by the five young men, he could see at a glance that this drone was made with advanced technology and expensive materials.
So it was likely a genuine drone sent by the real Batman.
Sure enough, not long after pulling down the drone, a batarang flew toward him.
“You should know that a cat’s reflexes are much faster than a human’s, and your batarang was a bit off target.”
Snatching the batarang in his mouth, Jerry flicked his head and threw it back at the real Batman standing on the Batmobile behind him.
The batarang had been aimed at the column next to him, clearly a test, so Jerry didn’t use magic to counterattack; he simply returned the batarang.
Batman caught the batarang and looked at Jerry with a mix of disbelief and curiosity.
“You can actually speak?”
When he saw a cat with wings and the ability to shoot steel arrows to kill gang members through the drone, he almost dropped his jaw. Now, this cat was speaking human language.
If the drone’s scan hadn’t confirmed that the cat was indeed a purebred Eastern Tabby, he would have suspected it was some kind of high-tech robotic cat.
“Maybe it’s a mutated cat from a biological experiment.”
