Chapter 80: Wild Blood "Enfeoffment"
Chapter 80: Wild Blood "Enfeoffment"
Li Yue's golden beast eyes remained completely unreadable, displaying no trace of emotion beyond absolute obedience to Cui Xi's commands.
Under the afternoon sun, Panther Girl's slender silhouette radiated an eerie fusion of untamed wildness and cultivated submission—a mesmerizing, lethal beauty stripped of self-awareness.
...
As Luo En returned to the Dormitory Area, the sky's color had begun fading into dusk.
Black Mist Jungle's nights always arrived swiftly, as though darkness itself were the land's true nature.
Walking along the corridor toward his room, Luo En stepped through the dim glow of the mana crystal lamps, their wavering light casting fractured shadows across the stone floor.
Far ahead, a familiar figure stood by his door. As their eyes met, the person lifted his head sharply.
"Andie?" Luo En quickened his pace, surprise evident in his voice. "What's wrong?"
The blond youth's face looked unnaturally pale in the moonlight, his anxious eyes betraying both urgency and helplessness.
Clutched in his hands was a letter, its wax-sealed parchment bearing a crest that gleamed faintly in the dim corridor light.
"Luo En." Andie's voice caught in his throat. "I'm in trouble. From the royal family."
"What kind of trouble?" Luo En retrieved his key, ushered Andie inside, and shut the door firmly behind him.
The mana crystal lamp illuminated the room as its master entered, bathing Andie's gaunt face in golden light that emphasized his exhaustion.
Luo En glanced at his friend. His enhanced spiritual energy tendrils easily detected the powerful, unsettled vitality radiating from Andie's body—a clear sign of recent breakthrough.
"Your energy signature suggests you've just experienced a breakthrough?"
He poured a glass of water, handing it over as he spoke.
Andie drained the glass in one go, attempting a smile that failed to reach his eyes.
"You're right." His voice held quiet pride. "Thanks to your Blood Potion, I've finally broken through to the third stage of breathing technique physique forging."
"That's great news!" Luo En clapped his shoulder, genuinely happy for his friend. "Why the long face?"
This third stage should correspond to the "Proficient" level of his Breathing Physique Forging skill—completing the bloodline awakening ceremony would officially make him a knight.
"You're right, I should be celebrating." Andie managed a bitter chuckle, pulling out a crumpled letter from his tunic. "But this royal decree killed my mood."
Luo En scanned the letter quickly. Though the language appeared polite, every word carried unyielding authority.
"They want you to meet Xin Xi Ya?" His brow furrowed, recalling the arrogant female apprentice from the plaza and Nuo Li Si's description. "This couldn't be the 'crazy woman' you mentioned before? The royal family's already rushing you there?"
"Exactly her." Andie slumped into a chair, disgust and dread thickening his voice. "Every year around this time, Xin Xi Ya replenishes her male servants. Of course the royal family jumps at the chance to please her..."
Luo En leaned forward. "Who delivered this letter? Does your father know?"
Andie gave a hollow laugh.
"What difference would it make? Father's position is precarious enough. This was probably orchestrated by one of my siblings—they'd love me to disappear forever in Black Mist Jungle."
His voice darkened.
"They're terrified I'll return to the kingdom as a formal knight and threaten their succession claims. That's why they sent me here, hoping I'd never come back."
The blond youth stood abruptly, crossing to the window to stare into the night. "I already replied, claiming I need a month of seclusion for my bloodline awakening ceremony to become a formal knight. It buys me time, but only temporarily..."
Luo En interrupted suddenly. "A month will be more than enough."
Andie turned sharply, hope igniting in his eyes. "You have a plan?"
"I'm preparing for the Potion Certification Exam." Luo En's confidence was palpable. "Passing grants me an independent workshop and residence, significantly raising my status here. Then I can help you complete your knight ascension. Our situation will change completely."
"A professional potion master?!" Andie's voice cracked with excitement, his anxiety easing. "If you truly become a profession potion master, even the royal family wouldn't dare provoke you—it'd value you higher than an ordinary high apprentice in many ways."
"Exactly. Focus on your cultivation for now." Luo En's tone turned firm. "Once I pass, everything shifts. You'll use this month to prepare for your bloodline awakening ceremony."
Andie exhaled deeply. "You're right. Strengthening ourselves is our only path."
Suddenly remembering, he retrieved an ornate brocade box from his tunic. "Almost forgot—the messenger insisted I deliver this to you personally."
Luo En opened the box. Inside rested a golden emblem, its Falu Ke Sun Crown inlaid design exquisitely crafted, radiating unmistakable nobility.
"The Falu Ke Kingdom's enfeoffment seal." Andie explained, placing the box in Luo En's hands. "Father reserved a hereditary noble title for you, complete with fiefdom and castle. You can return anytime to claim your place among the kingdom's core nobles—though I suspect you have better priorities now..."
Luo En examined the emblem silently. While unnecessary for himself, this could secure significant benefits for his clan later. "I'll keep it safe for now." He carefully stored the box. "Let's solve our immediate problems first."
Andie nodded, curiosity returning. "You mentioned seeing Xin Xi Ya and Cui Xi at the market?"
Luo En recounted the plaza events, describing how Cui Xi's Panther Girl ambushed the half-beast from behind to claim victory while Xin Xi Ya fumed over losing to an intermediate apprentice who'd just ascended.
"Fascinating!" Andie's face showed genuine shock. "Cui Xi's combat slave has advanced this far? Training a proper battle slave consumes immense resources. Or maybe Xin Xi Ya's reputation exceeds her actual strength?"
"No, her half-beast was genuinely formidable", Luo En shook his head. "If she'd fought strategically, she might have won. But she panicked, using prohibited rage crystals too early. Plus, Panther Girl used one of my custom potions—superior formulation tipped the battle once it dragged out."
