Chapter 80: Frisbee Fun
Chapter 80: Frisbee Fun
The Everstone, a magical stone that aids Pokemon in suppressing their evolutionary energy, preventing them from evolving while they carry it.
While its effect may seem underwhelming, it's still an essential item for certain Pokemon!
For now, though, it's of little use to him.
Naoki turned back into the house and casually placed the Everstone in a drawer.
He then ventured outside again, gazing toward the direction of the back mountain.
He was curious about what kind of adventures the Teddiursa would encounter after eating the Lucky Pudding and what rare items it would find.
The answer to this question would have to wait until the next time the Teddiursa came by to exchange honey.
Naoki looked forward to it.
At that moment, Golurk appeared before Naoki, holding a frisbee it had bought in town, its tail wagging happily.
"Agas!"
At 3:38 in the afternoon, Naoki started playing a game of frisbee with Golurk, Motostoke, Aerodactyl, and several other Pokemon on the ranch.
Naoki threw the frisbee, and then the Pokemon took turns running to catch it and bring it back.
Three Pokemon played one after the other, taking turns as if they had an agreement, refraining from using their moves and working together seamlessly.
The frisbee flew through the air, and they chased after it in the grass, making sure to catch it before it landed.
If they missed once, it would be the next Pokemon's turn to play.
At first, they were in perfect sync.
Until Aerodactyl, instinctively used Extreme Speed to catch the falling frisbee.
Seeing Aerodactyl cheat with Extreme Speed, Golurk let out an unhappy cry, "Agas!"
Not wanting to be outdone, Golurk also unleashed its powerful strength.
A flash of light signaled Golurk's transformation from its Running Form to its Battle Form. As the frisbee flew away, Golurk's powerful leg muscles surged with force, propelling its sturdy body into a high jump. Using its falling speed and body weight, it crashed toward the frisbee.
In a moment, Golurk precisely caught the frisbee in its mouth and landed gracefully on the ground.
It turned to look at Naoki, only to find him staring blankly into the distance.
Naoki was indeed spacing out.
He was pondering the description and effects of the Lucky Pudding.
To be honest, the results of today's dish far exceeded his expectations.
It also made him realize something—the effect of the dish might be slightly influenced by the cook's mood.
Infusing the dish with love and emotion could lead to unexpected outcomes, even without the enhancement of black truffles.
The dish had achieved an A-rank even without any special ingredients.
What did this imply?
Naoki lowered his head in deep thought.
At that moment, Golurk returned the frisbee to him.
Naoki reached out to take it and unconsciously threw the frisbee again.
Golurk charged forward once more.
This time, Naoki finally paid attention to how Golurk was catching the frisbee.
It was using its Full Force Crash to catch the frisbee!
Naoki: ???
That couldn't be, right?
"Agas!"
Golurk proudly returned with the frisbee and handed it back to Naoki.
Aerodactyl beside them had its competitive spirit ignited. Its aura surged, and it was clearly ready to use Extreme Speed again.
Seeing this, Naoki twitched his mouth in amusement.
The two Pokemon started competing, each refusing to back down and showing off their skills.
Even the Frosmoth passing by with five Galar Mine Nodules paused to watch the spectacle.
As it stopped, the five Galar Mine Nodules following it bumped into each other one after the other, not reacting fast enough.
Motostoke, on the sidelines, looked on pitifully, appearing weak and helpless compared to the mighty Golurk and Aerodactyl.
Naoki noticed Motostoke's longing glance and turned to look at Golurk and Aerodactyl. The repeated throws were also starting to make his arm muscles feel slightly sore.
With no hesitation, he brought an end to the game for the two cheaters and turned to leave with the disheartened Motostoke.
Golurk and Aerodactyl were left behind, staring forlornly at their retreating figures.
"Roar..." (Is Naoki angry?)
"Groan..." (I don't know either.)
"Roar..."
Aerodactyl's face was filled with worry.
Golurk shared the same sentiment, but soon, it seemed to come up with an idea and quickly followed after them.
When they entered the room, they saw Naoki giving Motostoke cuddles and feeding it delicious treats by hand, comforting it with affection.
Golurk called out, "Agas!"
Hearing the voice, Naoki turned his head to glance at them.
Golurk immediately lowered its voice and diminished its aura, scurrying forward in a flattering manner.
"Agas..."
"No cuteness overload!"
Naoki pushed Golurk's face away with his hand, fighting the urge to laugh while maintaining a stern expression. He then asked them, "Do you two remember the rules we set?"
No use of moves or flying was allowed; they could only catch the frisbee by running normally.
This was to ensure fairness for Motostoke, Golurk, and Aerodactyl alike.
Golurk and Aerodactyl stood side by side, like guilty children, hanging their heads low.
"Groan..."
"Roar..."
As a qualified parent, Naoki aimed to treat everyone equally.
Seeing the two Pokemon acknowledging their mistake, Naoki nodded in satisfaction. Then, he spoke earnestly, "Motostoke is still young; it's not even a year old yet. Its strength and speed are no match for yours. It wants to play frisbee too, but you two used moves, breaking the rules and leaving Motostoke to watch from the sidelines."
"Growl..."
Looking at Naoki, Aerodactyl, and Golurk, a desire to become stronger ignited in Motostoke's heart.
If it could be as powerful as Golurk, it could join in on the game, fly with Naoki in the sky, and help him with more tasks.
Perceiving that the two Pokemon understood, Naoki sat down in a chair and waved at them. "I'm a little tired now, so I can't join you. I'll watch some TV, and you guys can go play outside!"
Aerodactyl glanced at Naoki a few times and, seeing that he truly wasn't angry, happily ran outside to play.
Golurk, however, stayed by his side, lying on the wooden floor next to Motostoke. Together, they kept Naoki company as he watched TV.
Today's TV program was replaying the lunchtime news from earlier. The news reported that an avalanche had occurred on Frostpoint Mountain recently, affecting the local Pokemon ecosystem.
An expedition team had gone to investigate and eventually discovered the culprit behind the avalanche—a powerful wild Duraston on the mountain.
"Duraston? I think it's one of the quasi-god Pokemon in the Paldea region," Naoki thought to himself.
Compared to the adorable Aerodactyl, Duraston fell short in the looks department.
As Naoki watched, he started feeling sleepy. He yawned and slowly closed his eyes, reclining in his rocking chair for a nap.
The news program continued playing on the TV.
However, the topic shifted from the "Frostpoint Mountain Avalanche Incident" to the "Paldea Region's Mysterious Phenomenon: Pokemon Crystallization."
On the screen, the host was introducing the story of Dr. Olin and Dr. Fortu, researchers of the crystallization phenomenon and inventors of the Crystallization Orb.
There's one more chapter, which will be updated around one o'clock. I received a notification from the editor today that the book will be on the shelves next Wednesday.
