Chapter 80: Fear of Being Targeted by Lord Danzō, So Kill Lord Danzō First
Chapter 80: Fear of Being Targeted by Lord Danzō, So Kill Lord Danzō First
Few knew that beneath the Hidden Leaf Village lay two massive underground bases. One sprawled beneath the Hokage Office, the other hidden near the Hokage Monument, buried beneath mountains and forests.
These bases featured numerous entrances, allowing rapid movement through the underground to any part of the village. But each entrance was sealed and camouflaged into nature itself—only Root or Anbu members could locate and unlock them. Even accidental discovery would trigger surveillance, summoning Anbu to intercept intruders. Severe cases meant memory erasure or permanent sealing.
The bases were further protected by barriers impervious to Byakugan or sensory techniques. They were the Hidden Leaf’s most secretive sanctums.
Yet to Izayoi, these defenses were meaningless.
Using Body Flicker, he halted meters from a rocky wall, eyeing a protruding stone. With a flick of his hand, Gravity Release chakra sent a pebble hurtling forward, its Repulsive Force shattering the rock—and the hidden camera within. The monitor’s feed turned white.
Root operatives detected the breach instantly, rushing to report to Danzō Shimura.
“Lord Danzō, the A-3 entrance’s surveillance was destroyed. An intruder is suspected.”
Danzō, seated on a stone chair, opened his uncovered left eye. “Anbu?”
“Unclear. The method doesn’t match theirs.”
“Send Fū or Takehara to eliminate him. If it’s Anbu…” Danzō paused, then amended, “Capture him alive. He might serve us later.”
He dismissed the threat. The village’s perception barrier extended even to its gates, and only a few knew the Perception Squad’s rotation. The greatest danger now was Orochimaru, already clashing with Hiruzen Sarutobi. With a single Tsukuyomi as leverage, Danzō considered even Orochimaru inconsequential.
The Hidden Leaf was his dominion. A coward sneaking into Root’s base? Irrelevant.
But then a voice echoed in his mind, making him jolt upright.
“Lord Danzō, the intruder is identified. It’s an Akatsuki member.”
The mental shout came from Yamanaka Fū.
Danzō’s face darkened. “Akatsuki? Why now? Damned Orochimaru…”
His first suspicion wasn’t Itachi Uchiha, the Akatsuki’s known spy, but Orochimaru, who’d once joined Akatsuki. Itachi had slaughtered his clan for his brother Sasuke. As long as Sasuke remained in the village, Itachi would stay loyal—a “dog” Danzō controlled.
Still, he asked, “Itachi?”
“No. The intruder’s Yin Release chakra lacks Sharingan traces. He’s a man in an Akatsuki cloak, with purple ripple-patterned eyes and orange hair.”
Danzō’s breath quickened. “Purple ripples? You’re certain?”
Fū hesitated. “Certain. His Dōjutsu power is immense. He’s already destroyed my surveillance.”
“Mobilize all squads. We eliminate him together!” Danzō barked, storming out, eyes blazing.
Rinnegan. The brat had come to him.
This time, he wouldn’t miss.
Root operatives, unoccupied with defending civilians or fighting Orochimaru, became black blurs converging on Izayoi.
Izayoi smirked. “Perfect. I’ll end you all here.”
Behind him, Kurosuki Raiga and his Black Hoe Clan, now Human Puppets, stirred. A hand signal triggered Shadow Clones in the Naka River cave, sending the puppets surging forward. Ranmaru, cloaking them in invisibility, turned toward Root, his eyes glowing crimson.
Izayoi’s true form strode toward Danzō’s base.
The underground complex, vast and dimly lit with ancient Warring States architecture, was ideal for ambushes. Soon, Izayoi reached a bridge.
Then, a chorus of voices erupted.
“Four Violet Flames Formation!”
Purple transparent barriers surged from all sides.
From the shadows, Root ninjas emerged, unleashing high-level elemental jutsu—Fire Release: Great Dragon Fireball, Water Release, Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere, Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld, Lightning Release: Thunderbolt, even composite techniques like Lightning-Water Dragon Bullet.
The ground beneath him liquefied, aiming to trap his movements.
Root held nothing back. Even S-rank Akatsuki missing-nins would struggle—except a few. Five Kage, save Ōnoki, would find this onslaught daunting.
But Izayoi wasn’t ordinary.
He ascended, escaping the swamp. Arms spread, he roared, “Shinra Tensei!”
Chakra became Repulsive Force, compressing into a translucent green dome. It erupted outward, scattering the jutsu like foam under a hand. The Four Violet Flames barrier bulged like an inflated balloon—then snapped back. The residual force couldn’t shatter a barrier designed to hold Shadow-Level threats.
“Mind Body Switch Technique!”
As Izayoi hovered, a voice slashed through the shadows. Yin Release energy pierced the barrier, infiltrating his body.
