Chapter 8: Triggering Conditions
Chapter 8: Triggering Conditions
When Lu Wuzai learned about Summon Beast Breeders, he instantly developed a keen interest in this profession.
His intuition told him that this profession would pair perfectly with his Golden Finger trait, like chocolate and a rainy day.
So, he began preparing to search for books about Summon Beast Breeders in the library, but before he could take action, his phone rang.
Lu Wuzai was momentarily stunned, and when he checked the time, it was already past eight in the evening. He realized his family was calling him to return home.
Indeed, as soon as he answered, a sweet voice came from the other end of the line.
"Gege, why aren't you back yet? Nini misses you!"
The voice, as sweet as milk, belonged to Lu Wuzai's three-year-old sister.
Upon hearing her voice, perhaps due to the influence of his past life, Lu Wuzai felt himself melting, and he gently responded, "Nini, be good. Brother will be back soon."
After soothing the child, he hung up the phone, but he had to give up on continuing his research in the library. Instead, he decided to borrow a few books to read at home.
On his way home, Lu Wuzai didn't let the Mini Skeleton continue its training.
It would take at least an hour or two for the skeleton to reach home if it kept training.
So, as soon as Lu Wuzai left, he held the Mini Skeleton's hand.
Pang Doudou, standing nearby, saw Lu Wuzai naturally holding the Mini Skeleton's hand, feeling a twinge of envy. She glanced at Lu Wuzai and, suppressing her fear, quietly went over to hold the Mini Skeleton's other hand.
The Mini Skeleton, suddenly held by Pang Doudou, could only bite its bone and turn to look at her. It stared at her, unblinking.
Without saying a word, the skeleton's head remained unchanged, and it stood there, motionless.
However, Pang Doudou felt the pressure and, after a brief struggle, couldn't resist letting go of the skeleton's hand.
Lu Wuzai, unfortunately, missed this entire scene.
This was because, just as he had held the Mini Skeleton's hand, his attention was drawn elsewhere.
By the time he regained his composure and forced down the urge to study further, pulling his attention back, Pang Doudou had already let go, and Lu Wuzai was none the wiser.
Of course, even if he had known, he wouldn't have minded. His thoughts were elsewhere.
At that moment, he was eager to return home, pulling the Mini Skeleton along with him and Pang Doudou, rushing back home.
Upon reaching home, Lu Wuzai opened the door, and a small figure pounced on him, demanding kisses and hugs before settling down.
Lu Wuzai had no choice but to suppress his excitement and impatience. He hugged the little girl and played with her for a while.
While Lu Wuzai played with Lu Nini, Li Ruyu went to the kitchen to cook noodles for him.
After serving the noodles, Li Ruyu took Nini away, allowing Lu Wuzai to eat.
As she handed Nini over, Lu Wuzai subconsciously said, "Thank you."
It was a reflexive response.
What he didn't notice was that when he spoke, Li Ruyu froze, and her eyes instantly turned red.
However, she quickly composed herself and softly said, "It's late. Finish your meal and go to sleep early. I'll take Nini to bed."
"Okay!"
Lu Wuzai didn't notice Li Ruyu's emotional shift. He hastily ate the noodles and headed to his room with the Mini Skeleton.
As soon as he entered the room, Lu Wuzai placed his hand on the Mini Skeleton's forehead.
The moment he touched its forehead, the Golden Finger trait activated, and the Mini Skeleton's attributes appeared before Lu Wuzai once again.
...
Name: Mini Skeleton
Strength: 0-Star (Ordinary)
Quality: Ordinary (Inferior) (Upgrade) (One)
Attribute: Undead
Status: Fatigued (It has been training for a whole day. When will you, the heartless Summoner, finally give it a break?
Skill: None
Weakness: Light, Fire, Thunder
Description: It seems you've found a way to improve the quality of this mediocre creature.
...
"That's enough, stop training for today. We'll continue tomorrow."
Lu Wu glanced at the mini skeleton's attributes and, seeing its condition, decided to halt its training.
After all, Lu Wu wasn't some heartless taskmaster.
Immediately, Lu Wu shifted his focus to 'Upgrade'.
The originally grayed-out 'Upgrade' option now had a 'Path' option, and this was the reason for Lu Wu's excitement.
Opening the 'Path' option, a sub-page appeared before Lu Wu.
...
Quality Improvement Plan:
Plan 1: Mini Skeleton Training Manual (Modify) (1 time/day)
Plan Effect: Extremely slow improvement of the mini skeleton's bone strength and coordination.
Time Required for Quality Upgrade: 888 days
...
"What the heck is this?"
Looking at the sub-page, Lu Wu was a bit bewildered.
He thought he had the latest version of the game!
The shift from surprise to disappointment was too quick.
He initially thought that the mini skeleton had met some 'Upgrade' condition, and clicking on it would instantly trigger the Dragon Slayer Sword. But instead, clicking on it presented him with this?
"Is this telling me that the Mini Skeleton Training Manual is effective? That after training for 888 days, the mini skeleton can be upgraded?"
Lu Wu's face showed his disdain.
888 days was out of the question, even 88 days would be hard for Lu Wu to accept.
If he couldn't improve the mini skeleton's quality before summer break, he wouldn't stand a chance at the Elite Class, let alone the Summoner University. So, no matter what, Lu Wu would never accept this plan.
Fortunately, Lu Wu didn't overlook the 'Modify' option behind Plan 1.
This must be the correct way to unlock the Golden Finger!
Lu Wu, full of hope, clicked on 'Modify', and at the same time, a prompt appeared.
"Do you want to modify Plan 1?"
"Yes/No"
Was there even a choice?
He chose 'Yes' without hesitation.
The next moment, a page for modifying the plan appeared.
...
Original Plan: Mini Skeleton Training Manual
Modified Plan:
Submit/Cancel
...
The page was straightforward, and after some tinkering, Lu Wu quickly understood its usage.
"After all this, I have to fill in the modified plan myself?"
Lu Wu thought that clicking on 'Modify' would automatically generate the plan, but he didn't expect this lousy system to be so unhelpful, requiring him to do it himself.
Disdain filled his face once more!
With no other choice, as the system wasn't accommodating, he had to do it himself. But how?
He had no idea what to do, so after fumbling around blindly, he replaced the original plan's pig, cow, and sheep bones with bone powder.
He figured bone powder should be easier to absorb than plain bones, right?
On the other hand, he discovered that the modified plan could be changed once a day.
Since it was a daily limit, he decided to test the waters first...
