Chapter 8: Prince Qing
Chapter 8: Prince Qing
Upon hearing the mountain bandit's words, Fenghan Rui was about to yell, his voice strained: "There's only one of me, you scoundrels! Don't you dare lay a finger on her!"
However, before he could finish, someone rudely dragged Sui Sui out from her hiding place in the chicken coop.
By now, Lao Si and the others had rekindled the torches.
Earlier, in order to lure out those who were hiding, they had divided into groups, leaving three of them behind while they put out the torches.
Now that they had caught their prey, it was only natural to light the torches again.
The flickering flames illuminated the desolate courtyard.
Among them, Lao Wu was the closest to Sui Sui, and his sharp eyes noticed that this was a young girl?
After taking a clearer look, he couldn't help but smile in delight: "Hey, it's a girl!"
Lao Si had been examining Fenghan Rui's clothes, thinking that he must be a young master from some wealthy family.
Keeping this person alive would be more beneficial than killing him.
Perhaps they could even demand a hefty ransom.
Hearing Lao Wu's words, Lao Si glanced at Sui Sui and then, a smile also spread across his face: "This time we've struck gold. This little thing, if sold to a brothel, should fetch quite a nice price."
Standing beside them, Lao Qi looked at Sui Sui, stroked his chin, and then suggested in a low voice: "Why don't we brothers have some fun first?"
As he spoke, he loosened his pants with a lewd expression.
Although Sui Sui couldn't understand what they were saying, she could sense the chilling malicious intent emanating from those men.
Realizing this, she instinctively clutched Fenghan Rui's sleeve tighter and moved closer to him, lowering her little head and daring not to look up.
Being young, Fenghan Rui had not received any education in this regard from his family.
However, he could sense that these mountain bandits had ill intentions, and they were targeting Sui Sui.
But, he didn't fully comprehend the exact nature of their malicious intent.
Feeling Sui Sui's fear, he soothed her with a hoarse voice: "Sui Sui, don't be afraid. Your brother is here."
There was a sobbing tone in the young boy's voice as he spoke.
Hearing Lao Qi's suggestion, Lao Si coldly snorted: "You always have too many ideas."
Did that mean he wasn't opposed to the idea?
Lao Qi grinned and responded, already loosening his pants. Now he completely undid his belt and walked towards Sui Sui with a lewd smile.
Fenghan Rui subconsciously stood in front of him, not wanting this disgusting mountain bandit to get close to Sui Sui!
Lao Qi was just about to say: "At such a young age, you already know about saving the damsel in distress?"
But perhaps he should consider who will save you first!
Before he could finish his sentence, urgent piercing sounds broke through the darkness of the night.
The three men didn't even have time to react before they were enveloped by the cold intent and killing aura aimed directly at their vital points.
Among them, Lao Si was the most vigilant, but he still didn't have time to react. As he lifted his eyes, an arrow pierced his brow, impaling his head.
Lao Si struggled to widen his eyes, wanting to get a clear look at the assailant.
However, before he could even see who it was, he toppled down, following his two brothers.
Lao Qi's pants were already lowered, exposing his dark, skinny legs. But he would never have the chance to pull them up again.
Lao Si wanted to roar in fury: "Do you know who I am?"
But his voice stuck in his throat, and before he could even finish his sentence, he followed his brothers into oblivion, unaware of what had just transpired.
Everything happened too suddenly.
Fenghan Rui even thought that if these mountain bandits wanted to kill Sui Sui, he would rush forward without hesitation.
His father had said: "As a man, it is your responsibility to protect your mother and the women and children when danger arises."
His sister was so young, and he had to protect her!
Although Fenghan Rui was scared to the point of his legs turning soft, he still resolutely shielded Sui Sui behind him.
He thought he had already prepared himself for death, but now the mountain bandits were dead?
The three men all met the same fate.
Each of them had an arrow piercing right between their brows!
Seeing the terrifying killing intent and precise arrow skills, Fenghan Rui was stunned for a moment before he shouted hoarsely, "Uncle Qing!!!"
Having rushed over with his men, Prince Qing never expected to encounter Fenghan Rui here. When he heard the voice, he wondered if he had misheard.
But as Prince Qing rushed forward in a few quick strides and saw Fenghan Rui's pitiful state, his eyebrows furrowed in concern: "What are you doing here? Where's Qing Shan Qing Shui? Where are your guards? Why aren't they with you?"
Earlier, when they had encountered what seemed to be a wolf on the mountain, Fenghan Rui hadn't cried.
As they made their way down the mountain, stumbling and falling along the way, Fenghan Rui hadn't shed a tear.
Even when facing the mountain bandits' chilling killing intent, Fenghan Rui remained strong and didn't cry.
However, upon seeing his Uncle Qing, the young boy who had been so brave finally lost his composure and burst into tears, "Waaah... Uncle Qing, I've had such a terrible time!"
Looking at his dirty and pitiful little nephew, Prince Qing crouched down and draped his outer robe over the boy's shoulders while scolding him with a furrowed brow: "I told you not to wander off again!"
As he draped the robe over Fenghan Rui, Prince Qing noticed Sui Sui hiding behind the boy and his eyebrows furrowed further: "Little Six, what's going on here?"
Hearing his uncle ask about Sui Sui, Fenghan Rui momentarily forgot his tears and, wiping them away hastily, he spoke proudly, "Uncle, this is my sister, Sui Sui. Isn't she adorable?"
Prince Qing: ?
With her dirty face and disheveled hair, how could she be adorable?
Prince Qing was left speechless.
Sensing his uncle's disapproval, Fenghan Rui immediately puffed up his small frame, tucking his hands into his waist and puffing out his chest, he huffed indignantly, "After a wash, she'll be all soft and sweet-smelling, and so adorable!"
After saying this, he even harrumphed coldly, mimicking the mountain bandit Lao Si's earlier harrumph.
However, being just a child, his harrumph sounded more like...
The contented grunting of a little piglet during mealtime.
Hearing this, Prince Qing's men, Zhan Gao and Zhan Yuan, couldn't help but turn their heads away and chuckle.
Fenghan Rui paid them no mind and continued to address his uncle, "You're just jealous I have a sister. Admit it, Uncle! Where else would you find someone as adorable as my sister?"
As he spoke, Fenghan Rui struggled to his feet, tugging Sui Sui gently towards himself, and then gently lifting her small face to show his uncle, "Look, isn't she lovely?"
Having asked this, he then proudly lifted his head and stuck out his tongue, "Hehe, she's my sister!"
At this moment, Sui Sui was far from adorable.
With her face smeared with dirt and blood, and the wound on her forehead, she looked rather frightening.
Prince Qing couldn't see any adorableness in her, but with the two children clearly distressed and injured, he knew they couldn't afford to delay.
However, his task for the night was to track and deal with these mountain bandits, either by capturing or killing them.
He had left some of his men to handle the situation in the village, but he still needed to wait here for the outcome, be it capture or slaughter.
Only once everything was settled could he return.
However, the children's condition seemed too urgent to wait.
Realizing this, Prince Qing's eyebrows knitted further in concern.
