Chapter 8: Everyone Has Their Own Learning Method
In the process of the experiment, Ivan also noticed a hidden factor: one's existing knowledge base can significantly impact learning efficiency and speed.
This is why it only took about twenty minutes to read through Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration using the Scholar Experience Card, while reading through Detailed Principles of Basic Spells was much slower, taking over thirty minutes to finish just half of it.
The quick reading of Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration was partly due to Ivan already having some basic knowledge of Transfiguration Spells, and also because he had read the book once before, giving him a general understanding of its content.
On the other hand, Detailed Principles of Basic Spells covered a wide range of topics, and Ivan hadn't read it beforehand, so his reading speed was naturally much slower.
After analyzing the pros and cons of the Scholar Experience Card, Ivan immediately realized that to make the best use of the one-hour time, the optimal strategy would be to read the relevant books once, then use the Scholar Experience Card to enhance his understanding and thinking abilities before reviewing the material again. This way, he could maximize his use of time.
Moreover, understanding a magic book thoroughly would reward him with Academic Points, and by improving his Spell levels, he could accumulate more Academic Points to exchange for more Scholar Experience Cards. This cycle would undoubtedly lead to a rapid increase in his strength.
Just by reading half of Detailed Principles of Basic Spells, all the Spells Ivan knew had significantly increased in proficiency. The Levitation Charm and Disarming Charm had even reached Level 1, just like the Transfiguration Spells, earning him an additional ten Academic Points.
This brought his previously zeroed-out Academic Points back up to twenty, greatly reducing the time needed to accumulate enough points for the next exchange.
Thinking about this, Ivan looked at the vast collection of magic books in the library and suddenly realized that these were all potential Academic Points!
If he could read them all, Ivan couldn't even imagine how much his strength would grow.
With this thought in mind, Ivan regained his motivation.
However, things didn't go as planned. Just as Ivan was about to start his intensive study, he was informed that the library was closing for the night.
Only then did Ivan realize he had been in the library for over three hours.
"Children, learning is important, but so is taking breaks. Now, everyone back to your dormitories!" Madam Pince urged the young wizards who were still lingering in the library.
As the librarian of Hogwarts, she certainly didn't dislike knowledge-seeking young wizards, as long as they didn't cause a disturbance. However, the library's opening hours were set by the headmaster, and Madam Pince couldn't extend them.
At that moment, Ivan stepped forward, holding the half-read Detailed Principles of Basic Spells, and asked, "Mrs. Pince, may I borrow this book?"
"Of course, as long as you return it within the specified time." Madam Pince glanced at the book, recognized its title, and nodded casually.
After saying that, Madam Pince turned to search the library. There were always a few who tried to hide among the books, hoping to sneak into the Restricted Section after lights out.
Of course, there were also those who got so engrossed that they lost track of time.
"Thank you", Ivan politely nodded and thanked her, then left the library with the book. He couldn't wait to go back and try out the Spells he had improved.
"Move, move, move aside!"
Ivan, who had just turned around and taken a few steps, only managed to hear a few crisp female voices before he felt someone collide with him. His forehead made intimate contact with the wall, and he landed on his bottom, the book he was holding, *Detailed Explanation of Basic Spell Principles*, falling to the ground.
Fortunately, the impact wasn't too hard. Ivan rubbed his slightly red forehead and got up.
First, Ivan picked up the book, then he noticed the clumsy girl who had bumped into him.
The first thing he saw was her thick, brown hair, which was clearly unkempt and lacked proper care. Her standard Wizard's robe was a bit too large for her, and a few magic books were scattered around her.
"Hermione?" Ivan was momentarily stunned but quickly figured out the situation.
It seemed that the know-it-all Miss Hermione had been in such a hurry when Madam Pince kicked her out of the library that she had collided with him from behind.
"Ivan?" Hermione, who had also been hit hard, finally stood up with Ivan's help. "Oh, I'm sorry, I must have been a bit dazed and didn't realize I would run into you."
"It's fine, just be more careful next time." Ivan picked up the books from the ground and handed them back to Hermione, shaking his head to show that he wasn't upset.
However, when Hermione saw the book in Ivan's hand, she immediately opened the floodgates and started talking non-stop.
"I've borrowed *Detailed Explanation of Basic Spell Principles* before and learned many new magic techniques.
Goodness, I never realized that a strong will could significantly increase the power of some Spells, but it requires a high level of magical control, or else the magic might go out of control."
At this point, Hermione's voice became more animated. "By the way, learning involves understanding and memorization, not just flipping through a book from cover to cover.
Instead of reading *Detailed Explanation of Basic Spell Principles*, I think you should memorize all your textbooks first!"
Hermione rapidly shared her thoughts or experiences, perhaps feeling that she was helping Ivan, which gave her a somewhat condescending tone.
Ivan understood that Hermione must have seen him using the Scholar Experience Card to study, and she was kindly offering advice. However, her superior tone made Ivan frown slightly.
"Thanks for the reminder, but I think everyone has their own suitable learning method." Ivan said coolly, now understanding why Harry, Ron, and the other young Wizards didn't particularly like the smart Hermione.
It had to be said that before Halloween, Miss Granger's personality wasn't very likable.
"How can that be?"
Hermione was about to continue her lecture, but Ivan interrupted her with an action.
"Quick Transfiguration!" Ivan waved his Wand and lightly tapped Hermione's parchment. The paper vibrated slightly, then expanded and transformed. The rough surface of the parchment slowly became smooth and flawless.
Right in front of Hermione, within a couple of seconds, Ivan seamlessly cast the Spell and waved his Wand, just like Professor Mcgonagall's demonstrations in class. The parchment had now turned into a thin jade tablet.
