Chapter 8: Action Figure
Chapter 8: Action Figure
What does it take to create a "genuine" Magical Automaton?
First, one must understand what a Magical Automaton is. Simply put, it’s a guardian figure. According to Felix, Hogwarts School has a batch of stone golems, whose craftsmanship is incredibly complex, enduring for millennia while always safeguarding Hogwarts.
However, for teaching purposes, such strictness isn’t necessary.
Using some high-quality clay, mixed with a suitable amount of dragon dung, and combined with some magical creature blood—dragon blood is the best, but for a teaching aid, cheaper alternatives will do.
But Felix himself could create some high-end combat puppets as personal collectibles…
Felix quickly submitted an application to Professor Mcgonagall. After a series of complex communications, Professor Mcgonagall finally agreed to his idea, allowing him to give it a try.
Along with the official appointment letter, she also sent a small bag of Galleons.
Felix quickly gathered the materials for the student version of the Magical Automaton. The clay was dug by himself, the dragon dung and magical creature blood were sourced from the black market. He then spent three days traveling between Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, and various magical black markets in different countries, finally collecting the high-end materials for his "deluxe version" Magical Automaton.
Next, Felix wrote to his "dear" Slytherin classmates, borrowing a house-elf from their families to set up a magical assembly line.
Felix cleared out his home and cast the Undetectable Extension Charm, transforming the room into a square-sized space.
Before him stood a line of house-elves.
"Gentlemen, I leave it to you!" After demonstrating the process of creating the puppet model, Felix stepped back and delegated the task.
As for himself, he was quite busy too! Besides redesigning his "deluxe version" combat puppet and adding various restricted powerful runic circuits, he also had to ensure the house-elves were well-fed so they could fully focus on their work.
Felix wasn’t exaggerating; the house-elves confirmed it with their testimony: "Mr. Heip is truly amazing!" xN
Time slipped by, and before he knew it, half a month had passed.
Felix looked at the hundreds of Magical Automaton models, feeling very satisfied. Although these models didn’t have any runic circuits, they could be considered rough drafts.
But that was enough.
On the day of their departure, Felix prepared a lavish farewell banquet for the house-elves.
"You are truly generous!" xN
Receiving another wave of gratitude, Felix bid farewell to these "volunteer workers."
In the following week, Felix began engraving Ancient Runes of varying difficulty levels based on the number of students in each year. He also used the Fortifying Charm to prevent damage, as these were all valuable!
Felix worked himself to the bone to get everything done.
"Next time, I’m not doing this again! It’s too damn exhausting!"
Felix felt drained, his face pale, but his understanding of Ancient Runes had advanced significantly.
He casually picked up a half-finished Magical Automaton, a palm-sized humanoid figurine. It resembled a proportionally reduced young man in an Eastern-style student uniform, wearing fingerless black gloves. Both the gloves and the back of the shirt were adorned with a golden sun emblem.
After a few minutes of completing the Ancient Runes circuit, he waved his wand, and the Magical Automaton sprang to life.
It first tested its limbs, kicking and punching, then raised its index finger in a classic pose. After a few seconds, it suddenly swung its arm, and a football-sized ball of fire erupted from its finger, flying out a good half a meter…
"Ha ha ha ha…"
Felix's Magical Automaton, though inspired by a fighting game, was not a direct copy. He made some significant modifications to the appearance and moves.
The Magical Automaton came in 12 different designs, ranging from handsome men and beautiful women to elderly people and children, providing students with a wide selection of preferences.
Each puppet, in addition to basic combat moves, also had an "External Skill" design. However, considering practicality, Felix kept it simple, dividing them into "Fire", "Ice", "Lightning", and "Cutting."
Taking Fire as an example, for safety reasons (never underestimate the recklessness of young wizards), the student version of the Magical Automaton released a basic Fire skill, which was mostly just a more visually appealing version of ordinary fire.
Felix was well-versed, and he even modified one character's skill to transform into a Firebird—yes, a Phoenix.
Felix was very satisfied. Perhaps, he could bring a new trend to Hogwarts!
Having finished the teaching aids, Felix turned his attention to his "Deluxe Edition" combat puppets.
There were six in total.
If he had to label them to satisfy imagination, the keywords would be:
Flame Master Lady;
Ice Master Lady;
Lightning Master Lady;
Cutting Master Lady;
Speed Master Lady;
Transformation Master Lady;
Heh, the characteristics were surprisingly consistent.
In summary, his collection of action figures included two new types: a Speed Assassin and a Transformation Disruptor. These six action figures were no ordinary puppets; they were crafted from high-quality materials, inscribed with complex Ancient Runes and protective magic, making them true Alchemy Artifacts.
Taking the Flame Master Lady as an example, she was inscribed with a powerful Fire magic that could reach extremely high temperatures and shoot up to 20 meters, capable of blowing up half a wall and maintaining this combat intensity for ten minutes.
By his estimation, any one of these six Magical Automatons could easily outmatch a seventh-year graduate.
When combined, the six action figures offered a mix of ranged and melee attacks, speed and power, strong offense and disruption. They could fight individually, in pairs, trios, quartets, or as a full team of six, with their power increasing exponentially.
Felix, with a malicious grin, thought that these six puppets could easily hold off a certain unnamed Potions Professor for ten minutes!
The only drawback was that they required a wizard to control them.
But the key was that Felix himself was much stronger than the Magical Automatons...
Useless, useless, Felix shook his head, realizing there was still room for improvement.
At the very least, he needed to grant them some combat intelligence.
He looked at the remaining materials and decided to mix in some lower-quality materials to create five more puppets, stronger than the student versions but weaker than the deluxe editions.
He would use them as prizes for the course, one for each year!
Perfect!
Felix took out a small box and placed the teaching aids inside—no surprise, the box was enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm.
As for his six action figures, Felix didn't give them a second thought. He waved his wand, making them float and fly onto a green emerald ring on his left index finger.
This ring, which appeared to be a storage ring, was essentially an Alchemy Artifact reinforced with an Undetectable Extension Charm and stabilizing runes.
It also had a concealed runic circuit to minimize magical fluctuations, making it look like a simple decorative gemstone ring.
Yet, this ring stored a third of his wealth, accumulated from his travels across various lands!
However, a wise man keeps multiple hideouts, and Felix already had two. He was still short one more.
And for this third hideout, he had a lead from a few days ago.
