Chapter 799: Lanchi: Me, a Cardinal?
Chapter 799: Lanchi: Me, a Cardinal?
"Good news and bad news?" Cardinal Lanchi couldn't help but feel a tingle in his throat. Sigrid didn't seem to be joking this time.
"Sigrid, why don't you get off me first? It's a bit cramped with both of us on this chair, and our posture is a bit undignified." He found that Sigrid was too close, leaving him nowhere to escape. He pointed to the sofa in the resting area of the principal's office, a more suitable place for discussing important matters.
He was a bit nervous now.
"What? Do I feel heavy to you?" Sigrid asked as she inched even closer.
"No, not at all. Bishop, you are light as a feather and a captivating woman." Lanchi's eyes were fixated on her exquisite face, her eyes like violets blooming in spring, domineering and relentless.
"Hmph, you know how to flatter. Alright, then I'll start with the good news." Sigrid laughed playfully, still stubbornly squeezing onto the same office chair as Lanchi, unabashedly pressing down on him.
"Take a look at this," she said, and Lanchi's gaze was drawn to her hand.
Her thumb held a holy seal, which she flipped like a coin.
It left a brief silver gleam in the air before landing back in her palm.
Even though it was just a fleeting glance, Lanchi recognized it instantly.
He was all too familiar with this style of holy seal.
He had seen it countless times on the members of the Protoss Empire's Dominating Heaven branch.
"Hmm?" Lanchi looked at the holy seal in Sigrid's hand, which glowed with an orange light, and voiced his confusion.
He had seen Sigrid's bishop's seal before.
It should be the Silver Moon Crown, with stars scattered around the edges, each a fragment of a shattered weapon, foretelling the failure and sad fate of the rebels.
Now, there was another half to the seal—a dazzling sun, radiating scorching light. Golden flames extended outward, forming a coronal, and at the end of each ray of light was an embedded brilliant gemstone. They shimmered with different colors in the sunlight, like the various emotions and powers that love could stir in people's hearts.
These arcs of light intertwined, seemingly finite yet infinite.
The radiance of the coronal shone in stark contrast with the icy hue of the Silver Moon Crown, yet they complemented each other perfectly, like the sun and moon destined to shine together.
Snap.
Sigrid gently snapped her fingers, and the new seal split into two.
"Wow." Lanchi quickly reached out to catch the falling seal.
He knew how important this bishop's seal was to Sigrid; it was the culmination of her years of hard work.
"..." Sigrid looked at Lanchi's flustered expression and couldn't help but laugh.
"Let me show you a magic trick." She brought the seals from her left and right hands together, and they merged back into one.
Lanchi raised his eyes slightly.
Since when could the Bishop's token be played with like magnets?
Lanchi breathed a sigh of relief.
Just now, he had thought that Sigrid had become too strong, to the point where she could even snap a bishop's seal.
"It's just a mere bishop's seal. If I really wanted to break it, I probably could." Sigrid saw through Lanchi's thoughts and proudly declared.
"Your divine power... what did you eat growing up?" Lanchi asked, echoing Talia's curiosity.
He never expected Sigrid to be capable of such a feat.
"Rest assured, I'm easy to feed and won't bankrupt your family. We've not only dated but also traveled together, so we know each other's habits quite well." Sigrid smiled.
"My family used to be somewhat wealthy, but times are tough now." Lanchi sighed.
As he calmed down and examined the seal more carefully, he realized that Sigrid's seal could be combined like a key, or separated into two distinct seals.

After Lanchi finished appraising the seal, he confirmed that the Bishop's Token was indeed different from the one Sigrid had shown him on the eve of the decisive battle with the Empire.
"So this is the Double Bishop's Token?" Lanchi was certain that Sigrid's influence within the Resurrection Church had increased significantly.
A single person wielding the power of two bishops.
However, it was a little different from what he had imagined and what Sigrid had initially told him.
"How is it possible for it to independently evolve into a sub-branch?"
"You could say it mutated a little," Sigrid explained to Lanchi. "Back in the Protoss Snowfield Province, when you temporarily returned the [Saint's Token - Dominating Heaven] to me, I merged it back into the Bishop's Token. But later, in the Empire's Congress Building, it was your power that I used to defeat Askesan in the Arena of Doom."
She shared her deduction. "It's probably because the outcome of that battle was determined to be a joint effort between me and the Saint, which ultimately led to the transformation of my Bishop's Token."
"Ah?" Lanchi furrowed his brows, still puzzled by Sigrid's explanation, but a sense of foreboding began to creep into his mind.
Sigrid then separated the holy seal once more and placed the Radiant Sun Coronal into his palm.
Instantly, the bishop's seal, as if it had found its rightful owner, began to radiate with dazzling light, illuminating Lanchi's incredulous face.

[Note: Holder - Lanchi Wilford.]
"Wh-what?" Lanchi exclaimed, his eyes wide as he held the seal in one hand. "Am I a Cardinal Bishop?"
Lanchi suddenly realized why the mysterious Cardinal Bishop's movements had always seemed similar to his own. And why, after returning from the Northern Continent, he had been able to sense the presence of members of the Resurrection Church below the rank of bishop.
"Turns out the Cardinal Bishop is me?!?" he exclaimed, feeling a little overwhelmed by the revelation.
"Hey, young man, becoming a Cardinal Bishop at such a young age, your future is indeed boundless." Sigrid patted Lanchi's shoulder in a mentoring manner. "We can sit together at the next Bishop's meeting."
She sighed, even feeling a bit proud to let the other Cardinal Bishops see them as a pair.
"You might as well take this Bishop's Token with you..." Lanchi suggested tentatively.
"Do you think that will change the fact that you're a bishop?" Sigrid countered.
Although Lanchi hadn't possessed the Bishop's Token before, he was indeed a bishop.
The Astrological Compass of the Southern Continent Kingdom United Congress, capable of detecting the general movements of the Cardinal Bishops of the Resurrection Church, had always been tracking Lanchi.
As a result, when he became the new Cardinal Bishop without his knowledge, the Southern Continent people discovered a super-mysterious bishop who had settled in the Kingdom of Hutton, perplexing the United Congress.
Now, Lanchi was the second person to know the identity of that bishop.
"I'm a law-abiding citizen, not a cult leader!" Lanchi exclaimed, burying his head in his hands.
He had never felt happy about joining the Resurrection Church. If he had to admit to any joyful memories, they were all from times when he was alone with the Dominating Heaven Sect, acting as an anti-cult crusader against the Resurrection Church.
As a pioneer in the fight against cults, his conviction was now a little shattered!
"Also, congratulations, you now have your promotion token, and once you return to the mortal world, you'll quickly ascend to the seventh rank and obtain an epic-tier occupation." Sigrid's eyes held a hint of schadenfreude.
The engraving occupation tokens were often [Mechanical] or [Link] attributes, representing them as either craftsman products or special tools, possessing inheritance effects or being ancient divine artifacts.
Additionally, these two attributes were the only ones on the third row of the attribute periodic table, occupying the 21st and 22nd positions, and were the attributes closest to the Artificer and the Shadow World.
The inherent attribute of the Bishop's Token of the Resurrection Church was [Link], and when unsealed, all Bishop's Tokens had the single attribute of [Link]. However, upon coming into contact with their true owner, they would reveal the bishop's unique attribute.
The Bishop's Token was an epic item that adapted to the bishop's attributes, so the compatibility was extremely high, and it was often used as a promotion token.
"This seal will not only allow you to engrave the 'Seal Master' occupation, but the distribution ratio of magic power and spiritual power bonuses will also follow your own attribute proportions. You won't need to bother with material blending ratios, and since I'm not very good at teaching magic-based occupations, this will help you achieve it in one go."
"
Sigrid had finished delivering both the good and bad news, leaving it to the Saint to process.
The reason for her trip to the Southern Continent was to return the Bishop's Token to the Saint, and although she could have used it herself, it would be of great use to him as well.
Recently, the Protoss Empire on the southern shores of the Northern Continent had just been pacified, and they still needed her. At the very least, she would have to wait until the covenant with the Aethertalan Kingdom was successfully concluded before she could leave.
A round trip to the Southern Continent would take at least two months, and the Protoss Empire couldn't afford to have her away for that long.
Now, after wishing upon stars and moons, she had finally gotten the opportunity to visit the Southern Continent during her vacation. The tough times were finally over.
To her delight, even before she could meet the Saint in the mortal world, she encountered him in the Shadow World, allowing her to deliver the holy seal earlier than expected.
After a long while...
"Sigrid, I'm glad I ran into you in the Shadow World. Otherwise, I might have spent another year trying to figure out who this Cardinal Bishop is."
Lanchi expressed his gratitude to Sigrid.
Things had come to this point, and he could only accept this bishop's seal.
Whether he had it or not, it changed nothing about the fact that he was a Cardinal Bishop.
It would be just right to use it to ascend to the seventh rank.
Moreover, seeing that Sigrid seemed to want him to become a Cardinal Bishop to support her, he might as well play along if it made her happy.
"We're a pair now."
Sigrid held up her Bishop's Token and placed it next to Lanchi's, gazing at the pair of holy seals through their radiant glow, her smile growing sweeter by the moment.
"Then won't your Double Bishop's Token become a single one again?"
Lanchi asked, looking at Sigrid.
His Bishop's Token could be used by Sigrid herself, so by giving him a portion of her power, she was also giving up a portion of her authority.
"Isn't the Frenzy Bishop the one who controls the Dominating Heaven Sect? Do you want to start your own sect now?"
Sigrid grinned, hooking her arm around Lanchi's neck as she questioned him.
Even with Lanchi holding one of the tokens, she could still enjoy the power of two bishops as long as Lanchi was hers.
"That's not going to happen."
Lanchi looked down at the token in his hand and murmured to himself.
He would never go back on his word to Sigrid.
From the very beginning of their collaboration, they had promised never to betray the Bishop, to work for the Bishop, and in return, the Bishop would protect him and provide him with resources.
She was a bishop who kept her word, never breaking a promise to Lanchi.
Over time, they had become close companions who trusted each other with their lives, each becoming an indispensable part of the other's life.
"As long as you're the Dominating Heaven Saint, you'll always be my Dominating Heaven Saint."
Sigrid looked at him proudly, her eyes conveying that he had no hope of escaping from under the Bishop's wing.
"If you need sealing stone tablets, I'll help you get them. If you need promotion tokens, I'll deliver them. If you need to defeat powerful enemies, I'll fight for you."
She vowed confidently.
Life under the Dominating Heaven Sect would always come with abundant blessings.
Lanchi chuckled softly and sighed, feeling as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his shoulders.
"You truly are a useful big sister."
He praised Sigrid sincerely.
She was always so reliable that he didn't know what else to say.
"Then are there useless big sisters? Are you talking about your demon princess master from the Southern Continent?"
Sigrid hesitated for a moment, then leaned closer to him, asking a question.
She wasn't the type to allow him to bring up other women during their time together.
But Lanchi always seemed to inadvertently bring up the same woman.
Over time, Sigrid had almost come to remember the woman Lanchi couldn't forget.
She had heard from Antanas that Lanchi's 'Great Lover Poet' was based on a demon named Talia, and that he had a historic and exceptionally beautiful demon companion. Without a doubt, the "useless" person she referred to was this demon princess.
"How do you know she's a demon princess?"
Lanchi was caught off guard, guessing that Antanas' loose tongue had revealed something to Sigrid.
Before he could organize his thoughts, he felt Sigrid's oppressive aura growing stronger.
Suddenly, he felt that she had been mysteriously stirred up with a competitive spirit, her gaze becoming more aggressive.
"Hey, Saint, compared to me, she's far inferior, right?"
Sigrid leaned back in her chair, her eyes fixed on Lanchi's as she pressed for an answer.
This question might be a bit dangerous, but she was curious to hear the Saint's honest response.
If she ever met Talia, the Saint's demon teacher, she would happily share the Saint's answer with her.
