Chapter 798: Old Man Can Take His World Meeting and Shove It!
Chapter 798: Old Man Can Take His World Meeting and Shove It!
"I've been searching for you a long time", Kuro growled. "Ever since I emerged from hiding, I've been hunting you down, Lucius Kro!"
The Transponder Snail displayed a malevolent grin. "Over twenty years ago, I wanted to challenge you to a proper duel. Now fate gives me my chance! Come find me, fight me - let me claim the title of World's Strongest, or defeat me and claim the greatest treasure this world holds."
"Twenty years ago? I was barely in my teens back then! Who even are you?! Some East Blue remnant?!"
Snap!
The Transponder Snail disconnected without warning.
"Hey! Hey!" Kuro shouted into dead air, fingers tightening until the receiver crunched into unrecognizable debris.
"Damn it!" He shot to his feet, pupils contracting to pinpricks, steam practically pouring from his ears. "Coward! You've got guts alright! Full speed ahead! Old Man's going back!"
"Kuro, there's a World Meeting happening right now."
"Old Man can take his World Meeting and shove it!" Kuro practically roared at Tina. "Five Elders wouldn't stop me! How many ambushes have I survived since taking G-3? Not enough apparently! The Four Emperors know better than to step on my territory, but now every two-bit punk wants my head? Fine! Let them try!"
Garp chuckled. "Someone's itching for a fight!"
Kuro's voice turned icy. "Want me to send you to join Zeff in the afterlife?"
"Ohooo, scary!" Garp mimicked Lucius Kro's pouting lip.
"Dead old man..." Kuro's eyes narrowed razor-thin. He took a deep breath and barked, "All hands! G-3 direct subordinates, prepare immediate departure! Now! Immediately! Back to G-3!"
"Understood!"
Klah, Kas, and Wilbur snapped to attention, saluted sharply, and stood with military precision.
"Kuro, abandoning your post now means dereliction of duty. Your detachment's mission to escort the Royal Family will fail, resulting in disciplinary action against our Navy ratings."
Tina hadn't even finished saying "disciplinary" before Kuro stormed out, clearly incapable of hearing another word.
"Hehehe, give it up, Miss Tina. When Kuro's like this, he's deaf to everything", Kaku shrugged with a grin.
Zoro nodded. "Considering he's the one who took on Big Mom alone."
Kuro had served in Navy Headquarters for two or three years. Anyone paying attention knew his temper.
Last time he snapped, Marine Headquarters had been left reeling.
He'd gone one-on-one against Totto Land and won.
Tina sighed helplessly. "But how do we handle the Royal Family escort without his detachment?"
"Reassign forces", Garp laughed heartily. "Old Man's never seen Kuro this mad before! Definitely terrifying!"
"Strong killing intent, but..." Kaku smirked. "Compared to Gran Tesoro, this is child's play."
Zoro agreed. "True. After obtaining that 'Supreme Great Quick Blade,' his killing intent could actually alter weather patterns."
"Alter weather patterns?!" Garp looked skyward. "That's Conqueror's Haki territory! Amazing! Hahahaha!"
"And that's not even his full power?" Tina murmured, eyes wide with awe.
The Monster moniker? Clearly no exaggeration.
...
Outside the dining hall, Sazil boasted to gathered Marines. "You should've seen it! When those pirate ambushes came, I didn't flinch! Remember - I'm Sazil Kuro! Their strongest pirates couldn't withstand my refined Haki attacks!"
The Marines nodded. A young ensign asked, "Then what happened?"
"Then? Those pirates started calling us World Government lapdogs! Naturally I suggested countermeasures to Vice Admiral Kuro! I was total-"
Suddenly, every Marine's eyes shifted behind him.
"Oi! What's that look?! Don't believe me? I really did suggest countermeasures to Vice Admiral Kuro! I'm total-"
Their gazes remained fixed.
"Who dares interrupt Great Officer Sazil's story?!" He turned, cursing, but froze mid-sentence.
The crowd parted as a massive Marine formation approached. At their head - Kuro.
"Vice Admiral Kuro!"
Sazil snapped his mouth shut, straightened like a post, and waited as Kuro and his entourage passed. He silently fell into formation beside Klah.
"Mr. Klah..."
"Shhh", Klah whispered. "Unless you want two weeks in the infirmary."
Sazil clammed up. Kuro's face looked like it might drip water - volcanic rage. Not a word dared escape this tense moment. Worse, he felt chills running down his spine, like being sliced by invisible blades. Speak wrong? He'd die screaming. Who made this Demon Vice Admiral so furious anyway?
Last time he'd blown up, an assassination had been attempted...
"Vice Admiral!"
Ai En and Binz rushed over. "Reporting, Vice Admiral!"
Kuro barely glanced. "Fall in. We're leaving."
"Understood!" Ai En obeyed instantly. She didn't need explanations. That face. That oppressive aura. Something huge was happening. Following orders was safest.
"Golden Lion, where do you think you're going?"
As Kuro exited, black-clad government officials blocked his path. "The World Meeting is ongoing! Your duty is to wait for the Royal Family's session to conclude and provide escort. What do you think you're-"
Crunch!
Kuro didn't let the official finish. One hand seized his throat, lifting him bodily. "I'm already furious. Don't test me. Move."
He flung the man like a ragdoll into his comrades, sending them sprawling.
Klah pressed his lips together. Damn bureaucrats, no sense of self-preservation. Kuro hated government officials enough on good days. Choosing this moment to interrupt? Even Lida crouched nearby like a nervous kitten.
No one joked with Kuro when he was angry. That way lay death.
