Chapter 798: Bell Universe (First Update)
Chapter 798: Bell Universe (First Update)
"Oh, don't be so rude. As his wife, I should protect his innocence, but sometimes he really goes too far.
He's in room 7520 at the Philia Grand Hotel. If you hurry, you might catch him. If you can, take my phone and snap a couple of photos. I can use them to get out of this miserable marriage."
Laurel, who had been about to rise and retaliate, immediately relaxed when she heard that Catwoman was after George. In a tone filled with resentment, she revealed George's whereabouts to Catwoman.
She had been struggling with how to get rid of her husband George and take control of the entire company. Now, with someone coming to cause trouble for George, how could she let this golden opportunity slip away?
If Catwoman could kill George, that would be best. Even if she couldn't, as long as she had the phone, Laurel could easily frame Catwoman for George's death later.
Even if Catwoman claimed that Meling Cosmetics was toxic, who would believe a murderer?
Besides, their company's public relations team wasn't just for show.
"You seem to be cooperative. I'll take the photos, but you might not get a chance to use them."
Catwoman, seeing Laurel's honesty and remembering that Laurel had once stood up for her when George had scolded her at the company, decided to spare her. She picked up the phone from the table and tucked it into the front of her pants.
"Jerry, let's go!"
Walking with a cat-like gait to the window, Catwoman called out to Jerry, who was lying on the sofa.
But Jerry didn't get up:
"Someone who can always track her husband's location and knows exactly who he's with isn't that simple. Most of what she just said was a lie. She's trying to deceive you.
George isn't the mastermind; she is. She wants to use you to kill George and then use Meling to make a fortune."
"The cat is talking!"
Laurel, who had been about to smile at Catwoman's departure, was immediately stunned.
To Laurel, Catwoman was just a crazy person in bizarre clothing, perhaps with some good fighting skills, but not particularly hard to understand.
But the cat lying on the sofa suddenly speaking and revealing her inner thoughts was truly terrifying.
Catwoman, of course, trusted Jerry completely. Without a word, she turned and pounced on Laurel.
An angry wildcat is very dangerous.
"Since it's like this, I'll have to kill both of you!"
Seeing her plan exposed, Laurel's face turned vicious. She dropped the act of a wronged wife and engaged Catwoman in a fierce struggle in the bedroom.
After learning about the side effects of Meling, Laurel hadn't given up using it or sought treatment. Instead, she had increased her usage, making her skin as hard as stone.
She wanted to take revenge on George, gain power and money, and only by becoming stronger could she achieve all of this.
Catwoman's speed, strength, and reflexes far exceeded those of a normal person, and Laurel was no match. However, her hardened skin and lack of pain sensation made her impervious to attacks.
For a while, the two were evenly matched.
As for Jerry, he simply lay there, watching the two women fight, with no intention of helping.
First, he knew Catwoman wouldn't lose. Second, he understood that revenge was most satisfying when done personally.
Most importantly, Catwoman hadn't asked for his help.
"I won't let you off!"
After a prolonged struggle, Laurel realized she couldn't match Catwoman. Although her skin was hard, her internal organs weren't, and the constant superhuman blows from Catwoman were taking their toll.
She seized the opportunity to kick the Catwoman away and lunged toward the window.
The bedroom was on the second floor, and with her body, a direct fall wouldn't hurt her. Once she reached the street, Catwoman wouldn't be able to chase her anymore.
However, her plan was beautiful but she forgot about the strange, talking cat on the other side.
Just as half of her body was flying out of the window, she suddenly floated in mid-air.
“Wingardium Leviosa!”
It turned out that Jerry had calmly cast a levitation charm.
Lifting someone as heavy as Laurel was quite draining for Jerry, but he didn't need to keep her floating for long; he just needed to stop her from escaping temporarily.
Sure enough, the Catwoman, who had reacted, lashed out with her whip, ensnaring Laurel and pulling her back forcefully.
Half an hour later.
Jerry looked at the bound and bloodied Laurel, then asked Catwoman:
“Really not planning to kill her?”
Laurel ultimately wasn't a match for Catwoman, who had tied her up and hung her from the living room beam.
Catwoman lifted Laurel's chin with her finger:
“I think it might be better to hand her over to the police for trial.”
Today's battle had allowed Catwoman to vent all the pent-up hatred in her heart. Considering that her recent companion was also a police officer, she ultimately decided against killing.
Jerry didn't really care. Whether Laurel lived or died didn't matter much; even if she escaped from prison in the future, she wouldn't pose a threat to him.
So, Jerry and Catwoman gathered all the evidence they had found and, along with the bound Laurel, dumped everything at the police station entrance.
Getting a confession from Laurel wasn't easy, given that she was a tough individual with no pain sensation due to nerve damage.
However, Jerry could read minds.
Due to his limited magic power, he couldn't use high-level spells like the Imperius Curse or the Cruciatus Curse, but his mind-reading ability, which was based on mental power, was still usable.
So, without needing Laurel to answer, Jerry could directly read the answers from her mind whenever Catwoman asked a question.
The next day, Laurel and George were arrested, and the news about the toxic Meling Cosmetics hit the front page of the newspapers.
The mention of Catwoman and a talking cat in Laurel's confession initially made the police think she had been damaged both neurologically and mentally by prolonged exposure to the toxic cosmetics.
Three days later, Jerry fully absorbed the magic power he had gained from dismantling the Meling Group and slowly opened his eyes.
“I can start building the prototype now!”
With a flick of his tail, a cat bell made of Vibranium, Uru Metal, and Arcane Metal appeared on the table.
Next, Jerry infused the bell with various spells and laws.
While he couldn't create a complete universe yet, with some of his magic power restored, making a simplified version of the Bell Universe wasn't a problem.
This simplified version of the Bell Universe contained all the laws of a true, complete universe, but it was only about thirty square meters in size.
However, that was fine. As his magic power increased, the Bell Universe would gradually expand and wouldn't be much different from the ring universe of the main soul in the Marvel world.
