Chapter 797: The Dragons Depart
Chapter 797: The Dragons Depart
The destructive power of dragons is well-known. A single dragon, with its massive size and wide-ranging breath attacks, can cause immense destruction. How much more devastating would it be with ten thousand dragons?
Under the dragons' relentless rampage, the once towering Solar City visibly crumbled. Many landmark buildings were reduced to rubble, their grand structures shattered and demolished.
Among the most severely damaged was the Blazing Sun Palace.
Thousands of furious black dragons stormed into the palace, tearing apart any suspicious buildings and even the roofs of those that seemed harmless, meticulously searching every nook and cranny.
The dragons ravaged the palace for over an hour, leaving nearly half of the structures damaged to varying degrees, with a quarter of them completely destroyed.
The casualties, both inside and outside the palace, were countless. Each time the dragons angrily toppled a landmark building, thousands of Skrull civilians were killed or injured. Desperate cries of despair echoed through the city's every corner.
Manina paid little heed to the civilian casualties, as long as the dragons didn't harm the royal family. He even issued orders to the palace steward, Pel, to suppress any armed resistance, ensuring no dragon was harmed.
The only thing Manina truly regretted was the heavily damaged palace. This was his home, after all! The extensive destruction would likely cost a fortune to rebuild.
Damn it! How did the Red Dragon King's information leak to the dragons? Could there be a traitor among them? Manina pondered deeply.
Plante, who had been hovering above the city, watched the ruins below with a complex mix of emotions. Manina truly had the nerve to orchestrate such a massive event! There was no doubt now that a significant rift had formed between the Skrull people and the dragons.
In the past, dragons were treated as "semi-livestock" by the Skrulls. Now, with the tensions so high, making the dragons submit and become a subservient race would be nearly impossible.
"Manina must pay a heavy price for this! Otherwise, he won't learn his lesson!" Plante thought with a vengeance.
He tacitly allowed the dragons' rampage, knowing that the royal family would have to foot the bill for the reconstruction.
...
The dragons' destruction continued for an hour and forty minutes before gradually subsiding. As Manina had anticipated, the dragons found no evidence and their anger had mostly been vented.
The Dragon King now returned to the surface, carrying transparent containers with the three-headed dragon's remains. The other dragon bodies and organs from the underground chamber were also gathered, ready to be taken back to Dragon Island for proper burial.
The dragons responsible for the destruction, after venting their anger, returned to the vicinity of the dragon hill, landing and folding their wings, their mournful cries never ceasing.
Once most of the dragons had gathered, the Dragon King raised his head and spoke to Manina, who was hovering above: "Fine, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt this once. I expect a reasonable answer in two weeks."
With that, he spread his wings and flew into the sky, the other dragons closely following, each carrying a transparent container.
Manina's projection quickly assured, "Rest assured, Dragon King, I will provide a true answer in two weeks. Then, we will bring this mastermind to justice together!"
"Let's hope so," the Dragon King replied coldly, leading the gaunt-faced Red Dragon Queen and the other dragons into the sky.
The massive dragon formation circled mournfully around the Red Dragon King's remains, escorting the Dragon King toward Dragon Island.
Soon, the dragons had all departed, leaving only the ruins of Solar City as proof of their presence.
……
After the dragon clan left, Maninas in the communication screen let out a sigh of relief.
The dragons are finally gone! His next move was to find a suitable scapegoat to kill, to quell the dragons' wrath. And this scapegoat couldn't be just anyone; it had to be a significant figure. Only a prominent person would have the resources to build a secret laboratory in the small hills near the royal palace.
"Who should I choose?" Maninas pondered.
……
Seeing the dragon clan leave, Plante felt a bit more at ease.
He would leave the rest to Maninas to clean up. After all, Maninas had created this mess and should handle it himself. Plante looked at Maninas in the video feed, raising an eyebrow, and asked, "Maninas, this really has nothing to do with you?"
"Absolutely nothing to do with me! Senior Plante, you should know me well. I am not the kind of person who would betray the interests of my allies!" Maninas immediately defended loudly.
Maninas' tone was incredibly sincere, and if Plante didn't know his character, he might have believed him! Plante gave a derisive chuckle, ready to deliver a few sarcastic remarks.
But at that moment, Maninas' expression suddenly changed, and he said anxiously, "Sir Plante, there seems to be an emergency up ahead!"
"An emergency?"
"Yes, an emergency! According to the reports from our ancestors, a massive change has occurred in the 'Final Secret Realm'! Cao Cao, the powerful Blue Star warrior, has turned traitor. Now, Lady Cecilia has been severely injured and desperately needs your immediate assistance!" Maninas' voice was filled with urgency.
Plante's eyes went dark.
His greatest fear was that Cao Cao would turn traitor, and now it had actually happened! No, he had to get there immediately!
Without hesitation, he selected the target location in his mech and vanished in a flash of white light, disappearing from the sky above the Sun City.
……
At the same time, in the world of the "Evolution" game.
Su Yu was currently in the mage tower on the north side of the Golden Sparrow Palace, methodically absorbing spiritual energy for his cultivation. This mage tower was built by Eliza with a massive investment.
Although Su Yu had another mage tower in his territory, it was too far from the Golden Sparrow Palace. For Eliza and Tina to visit Su Yu, they would have to use a teleportation array. To see Su Yu more frequently, Eliza had the mage tower constructed within the palace, allowing her and Tina to be by his side at any time, rather than leaving it to the cat Chenxing alone.
However, just as Su Yu was in the middle of his cultivation, he suddenly heard a woman's scream from the north. The woman was far away, and the sound was very faint by the time it reached him. But with the spiritual energy absorption array activated, all his senses were at their peak, and he still caught the sound.
Coincidentally, his cultivation cycle had just ended, so he reached out to deactivate the absorption array and cast a "Teleport" spell.
A brilliant white light flashed, and the next second, his body appeared beside the screaming woman.
Upon a closer look, he was immediately startled.
He was in the main hall of the Assassin Guild's headquarters, a place he had visited before. The hall was surrounded by many stunned NPC assassins and players. In the center of the hall, a young woman, covered in blood, lay sprawled on the ground, barely conscious.
Seeing this woman, Su Yu was instantly shocked.
For she was none other than the legendary powerhouse of the Golden Sparrow Empire—Cecilia Nightblade!
