Chapter 797: A Mad Plan!
Chapter 797: A Mad Plan!
Draco was utterly stunned as he gazed at the Golden Fireplace before him.
Even the well-traveled Lucius was left speechless for a moment before he finally came to his senses and cautiously approached, reaching out to touch the golden bricks.
His years of dealing with money told him that this was genuine gold!
But how could that be possible?
Lucius couldn't hide his shock. He preferred to believe that this was the result of Transfiguration, but Ivan's magical prowess was so high that even he couldn't tell the difference...
"Nicolas Flamel is my Master..." Ivan explained calmly, shattering Lucius Malfoy's illusions.
Although he needed the 700,000 Galleons to fund his army and reduce the Magic consumption of the Philosopher's Stone, he didn't want Lucius to think that the loss of this money would cripple him.
"Nicolas Flamel... Transmutation... Philosopher's Stone..." Lucius muttered to himself, his face turning pale. He realized he had lost his most important bargaining chip.
Just as Lucius Malfoy was lost in his thoughts, Ivan's voice suddenly cut through the silence. "You mentioned you had important information to report, Lucius?"
Lucius Malfoy snapped out of his daze and quickly remembered he still had another card to play. He hurriedly responded.
"Yes, I recently received a message. The Dark Lord has a major operation planned for this month. The Aurors guarding Azkaban will be rotating shifts in fifteen days, and Voldemort intends to take advantage of this opportunity to rescue all the Death Eaters imprisoned there during the weaker defense."
Determined to seize this one chance, Lucius revealed everything he knew, even exposing several Ministry of Magic officials who had aligned with the Death Eaters.
"Good, this information is somewhat useful", Ivan nodded, acknowledging Lucius's contribution.
Ivan had already received word about Voldemort's plan to rescue the Death Eaters. The Dementors guarding Azkaban had clearly informed him that they would have a day off in fifteen days.
Of course, this "day off" wasn't granted by the Ministry of Magic but was orchestrated by Voldemort, who would have the Dementors attack Wizards and Muggles on the mainland, creating chaos and diverting the Aurors' attention.
When Ivan received this intelligence, he knew Voldemort would use this opportunity to rescue the imprisoned Death Eaters, and he had already adjusted his plans accordingly.
Now, with Lucius Malfoy's involvement, the plan might need some adjustments.
"I have a task for you, Lucius", Ivan mused for a moment before speaking.
"Please instruct me, Lord Hals. I will do anything you ask, no matter the difficulty!" Lucius responded with evident excitement.
"Very well! I need you to determine the exact time Voldemort plans to strike. Then, on the fifteenth day, before Voldemort can act, you must release the Death Eaters from Azkaban and lead them to create chaos, declaring the Dark Lord's return to the entire Wizarding World", Ivan said, each word deliberate.
"What?" Lucius stared at Ivan, almost certain he had misheard.
"Do I need to repeat myself?" Ivan's tone grew sharper with displeasure.
"No, I heard you clearly, Lord Hals..." Lucius quickly shook his head, then hesitated. "But... the Death Eaters may not trust me. After all, in their eyes, I betrayed the Dark Lord once."
"Don't worry, there will be another Voldemort willing to cooperate with your work..." Ivan casually said, tapping his fingers lightly on the armrest of the sofa.
Another Voldemort?
Lucius's pupils constricted, finding the idea absurd. Could there really be two Dark Lords in the world? And one of them would be willing to cooperate with their plans?
Wait... This might not be entirely impossible!
After a brief moment of shock, Lucius quickly regained his composure.
He suddenly recalled the memories he had purchased from several Knockturn Alley wizards recently, where he had seen Ivan cut off one of Voldemort's hands!
If they could obtain some blood and flesh as ingredients, they could brew a Polyjuice Potion and create a second Voldemort!
With Ivan's level of magic, impersonating Voldemort shouldn't be too difficult...
The thought made Lucius's head spin. This was undoubtedly the craziest plan he had ever heard in his life!
But precisely because it was so insane, the Death Eaters would never suspect that someone would dare to impersonate Voldemort and free them from Azkaban before the appointed day!
"Can you tell me why you want to release those Death Eaters early?" Lucius swallowed hard, cautiously asking.
"Fudge has been Minister of Magic long enough. Now, retiring wouldn't be such a bad idea", Ivan said with a cold smile.
Retiring? More like being forced into retirement?
Lucius inwardly scoffed, beginning to understand Ivan's intentions.
For the past six months, Fudge had insisted that Voldemort did not exist and had the Daily Prophet widely publicize this view.
The news of Voldemort suddenly breaking into Azkaban, leading the escaped Death Eaters in a rampage through Diagon Alley, would be a resounding slap in Fudge's face, knocking him off his throne as Minister of Magic.
Moreover, Lucius doubted that Ivan would let the escaped Death Eaters go free. Most likely, they would be "timely" apprehended or killed by "Aurors" and "concerned citizens" after their rampage.
The legendary Dark Lord, outnumbered, would put up a valiant fight before fleeing in a flurry...
This impressive victory over the Dark Lord would naturally be credited to the candidate Ivan chose, becoming a significant boost for their campaign for Minister of Magic.
Lucius shivered involuntarily. This young wizard in front of him was bold enough to scheme against both Voldemort and the Ministry of Magic. Such audacity far exceeded his imagination!
Most importantly, such a meticulous plan could not have been devised on the spur of the moment. It would take far more than twenty days to prepare.
This meant that Ivan Hals had known about this all along and had been preparing in secret.
There must be other spies in the Death Eaters' ranks besides himself!
"Lucius, what do you think of this plan? How confident are you?" Ivan asked.
"Seventy percent, it's worth a shot! But there are two issues that need to be addressed!" Lucius carefully considered for a moment before speaking seriously.
"First, our numbers are too few. The Dark Lord would never bring just me on a rescue mission!"
As he said this, Lucius sneaked a glance at Ivan, seemingly wanting to ask how many moles he had planted among the Death Eaters and how many could participate in the plan.
However, Ivan remained silent, watching him with interest, as if waiting for him to come up with a solution.
Lucius had no choice but to speak reluctantly. "In the Death Eaters, there are others who want to break free from the Dark Lord's control. Many have rebellious thoughts. I'm close to Goyle, Crabbe, Goyle, and Gagerson. Perhaps I can find a way to persuade or control them."
