Chapter 794: Perhaps... This Is the Worry of the Strong
Chapter 794: Perhaps... This Is the Worry of the Strong
"Don't be discouraged, Miss Edgecombe. Protego is quite difficult to learn; many Aurors have failed to master it. However, I believe you have a natural talent for this spell... it just takes more time", Ivan consoled her.
"Really?" Marietta's spirits lifted immediately, as if she had been given a great encouragement.
"Of course. So don't rush. You've already practiced for over an hour. Why don't you take a break?" Ivan replied with a smile.
Marietta nodded immediately, readily agreeing. Her gaze was filled with admiration as she looked at Ivan.
Even during the break, Marietta showed no signs of resting. After putting down her wand, she moved closer to Ivan and began to speak enthusiastically.
"Hals, I watched the memories in the Pensieve yesterday... oh my, you are the bravest person I've ever seen!"
"You defeated the Basilisk, the Dragon, and those Dark Wizards disguised as professors... I never knew you did so much to protect this castle in secret. And... and you even fought off the Dark Lord alongside Professor Dumbledore... that's just incredible..."
By the end of her speech, Marietta's cheeks were flushed, her words stumbling, and her excitement was palpable, making her look like a devoted fan.
After expressing her admiration, Marietta begged Ivan to tell her about the epic battle from the previous school year.
Although she had seen the general course of the battle through the Pensieve, she was still curious about the details and the events leading up to it.
Ivan felt a bit helpless with Marietta's persistence.
However, he didn't have the heart to outright refuse her request and recounted the story of how he had overcome numerous obstacles to rescue Harry from Voldemort's clutches and engage in a fierce battle with him.
In fact, Ivan had told this story countless times. Recently, more and more students had started to idolize him, and no matter where he went, he was always pestered with questions.
This was far beyond what Ivan had expected, and it even made him somewhat regret bringing the Pensieve from the Headmaster's Office.
Initially, he had only intended to use his memories to expose the Ministry of Magic's lies, but he hadn't anticipated this "side effect."
Indeed, being too outstanding wasn't always a good thing.
Perhaps this was the worry of the strong...
Ivan mused to himself. After spending some time extricating himself from Marietta's clutches, he opened the System's task bar to check his progress.
【Task: Fanatic Followers
Mission Objective: Have over one hundred Fanatic Followers at Hogwarts
Mission Progress: 214/100 (Completed)
……】
"Already this many people admire me? Unfortunately, there's no additional reward of Legendary Points..." Ivan glanced at the System Bar, then closed it, murmuring to himself.
In recent days, he had been actively forming the Dark Arts Defense Association not only to undermine the Ministry of Magic's authority but also to see if he could earn more Legendary Points from this already completed task.
It now seems that the possibility is extremely slim, and this attempt can be considered a failure...
However, Ivan wasn't too disheartened, as he had long ago realized that as his strength increased, the difficulty of obtaining Legendary Points also rose.
For example, in his first year, killing a single Troll could earn him Legendary Points, but now even killing ten might not be enough.
After all, a first-year student killing a Troll would be surprising, but for the renowned genius wizard Ivan Hals, dispatching a few Trolls was entirely normal.
"Let go... let go of me!"
As Ivan was thinking, a commotion suddenly erupted at the entrance of the Room of Requirement. Ivan turned his head curiously and saw George and Fred dragging Draco Malfoy over.
"George? Fred? Aren't you supposed to be on leave today? Why did you come here?" Ivan looked at the two in surprise, then shifted his attention to Draco Malfoy, who was struggling desperately. "And why did you bring Malfoy here?"
George grinned and tightened his grip on Malfoy. "Fred and I were passing by the eighth floor when we saw this guy lurking around suspiciously. He was definitely trying to find out where we meet so he could tell Umbridge..."
"So, we decided to bring him here", Fred added.
"But bringing him in exposes the Room of Requirement, doesn't it?" Ivan looked at the two with exasperation.
"Don't worry, after we interrogate him, we can use a simple spell to erase his memory!" Fred waved his hand dismissively.
"However, we've never been very good at Memory Charms. We might turn him into a complete idiot..." George said with a regretful tone, but he looked eager to try.
"No, you can't do this to me. I'm not here for Umbridge... let me go!" Malfoy was terrified by their words, shouting and struggling even more intensely.
The young wizards nearby, hearing the commotion, gathered around.
Seeing the situation escalating, Ivan quickly intervened. "Alright, George, let him go. Malfoy isn't lying; he's just here to see me."
George and Fred exchanged a glance, still skeptical of Ivan's words but obeying his command. They released Malfoy, who fell to the ground.
Malfoy picked himself up from the floor, straightening his robe that had been pulled out of place, and glared angrily at the two.
The Weasley Twins paid no attention to Malfoy's furious gaze, each brandishing their wands as if waiting for him to resist.
"Those two packages, were they from you, Malfoy?" Ivan suddenly asked.
Ivan's question shifted Malfoy's attention from George and Fred. He looked at Ivan, nodded, then hesitated. "You... you knew already?"
"The handwriting on both notes is yours, isn't it?" Ivan pulled out two slips of paper from his wizard robes and waved them in the air.
When Maca tracked the owl back and said the sender was a Slytherin, Ivan had his suspicions.
Last year, when he accompanied Mad-Eye Moody during an investigation, he had examined many people's handwriting, including Malfoy's. After carefully searching his memory, Ivan confirmed his suspicions.
