Chapter 792: Everything Can Be Tatsumaki
Chapter 792: Everything Can Be Tatsumaki
These four people? If Kuro hadn’t seen them, it would’ve been fine. But the moment he laid eyes on them, the memory slammed into his mind without hesitation.
The North Blue Four Nations’ Kings!
It was precisely because of them that Kuro had leapt from the Commander position straight into his current rank.
In Kuro’s own words, these four were the final straw that broke the camel’s back. Without them, he’d still be lounging comfortably on Pegasus Island!
“Vice Admiral Kuro…”
The four Kings were startled by the gruesome expression on Kuro’s face, instinctively freezing in place.
They feared Kuro. Unlike other Kings, they were likely the most terrified of all. After all, this Navy officer had openly threatened them—promising to destroy their nations if they didn’t spread his propaganda.
But standing around like this wouldn’t solve anything. One of the Kings finally stammered, “Vice Admiral Kuro, why are you giving us such a grim look? We don’t recall offending you. In fact, we’ve followed your instructions!”
I’ll give you grim, you dimwits!
Kuro wanted to curse but held back. This was Mariejois, full of royalty. He had to maintain his Navy’s image.
Taking a deep breath, he forced an extremely strained smile and growled through clenched teeth: “I don’t remember telling you to… promote me!”
The four Kings exchanged glances, clearly uncertain.
What did this mean?
Was he dissatisfied with the promotion? True, as his top promoters, they’d kept close tabs on Kuro’s movements. They’d learned about that Navy broadcast through alternative channels.
Such terrifying accomplishments… yet he hadn’t become an Admiral. Instead, the World Recruitment faction had overshadowed him. That was indeed hard to swallow.
Ah, that must be it!
Right!
They affirmed it must be this. It couldn’t possibly be that Kuro disliked their promotion. No Navy officer would refuse advancement or fame. Impossible.
“It’s our mistake, Vice Admiral Kuro,” one King quickly said. “We’ll be more careful next time.”
“We’re grateful you saved our four nations,” the other three added, nodding.
“Careful? Really? I became a Vice Admiral because of you lot,” Kuro scoffed. “Don’t pull anything sneaky again.”
If this happened once more, Gramps might retire on the spot.
“Absolutely not! If we get the chance, we’ll definitely be more cautious!” The Kings nodded fervently. “We just didn’t know—if we’d realized, you’d certainly be an Admiral by now.”
Their words were true. If they’d publicized Kuro’s accomplishments back then, he’d have become an Admiral. But now that he was a Vice Admiral, becoming an Admiral required far more than just defeating one Lucius.
Still, they’d be careful. Next time a similar opportunity arose, they’d gather evidence and unleash a massive propaganda campaign at the critical moment!
Exchanging glances, they nodded subtly, understanding each other perfectly.
Thanks to Kuro, ever since the Vinsmoke Family’s harassment ended, the North Blue Four Nations had enjoyed rare peace. Their relations had grown closer after the Vinsmoke incident, and with the Treasure Map gone, there was no need to compete. They’d even opened their borders, trading freely. Life was far better than before.
This was why, despite fearing Kuro, they felt grateful. Their lives had improved. Their pockets had deepened.
Since this Navy officer was dissatisfied, they’d find ways to please him. They’d decided—starting now, they’d pay closer attention to his every deed, gather materials, and wait for the moment to launch his next campaign. Only then would he stop being angry.
Kuro studied them, noting their sincerity, then snorted. “I’ll trust you this once. Don’t pull anything else.”
“Certainly, certainly.”
The four Kings nodded in unison.
“Shirahoshi, what are you looking at?”
Meanwhile, Vivi, who’d been chatting with Princess Shirahoshi, noticed the fish princess glancing at Kuro repeatedly, her expression shrinking. Curious, she followed her gaze.
“That Navy officer… Is that Golden Lion?” Vivi asked, puzzled.
“Yes,” Shirahoshi replied weakly. “Luffy’s comrade seems to hate him and wants to defeat him. But the others fear him.”
Vivi blinked. “Did Luffy lose to him?”
“Yes,” Shirahoshi said. “The deepest wound on Luffy’s chest was from him. If someone hadn’t saved Luffy, he’d be dead.”
“That man!”
Vivi gritted her teeth, then shuddered. Just a Navy officer, yet so many Kings flocked around him?
The figure standing behind this Navy officer looked like a knight at first glance, but Vivi recognized him—‘King Conqueror,’ the rising star who’d recently conquered countless islands and nations.
And that attire—he must be the West Blue’s Insect Country King.
And the Twin-Horse Kingdom King from West Blue as well. Vivi knew that one because Pegasus Island nearby was famous.
Those four were the North Blue Kings.
What Navy officer could command such a swarm of Kings?
“Vivi, is that Vivi?”
Just then, a voice interrupted.
It was a man in green with a crew cut, followed by an elderly woman in revealing, avant-garde clothing.
“Oh! Mr. Dalton!” Vivi’s face lit up. “Long time no see!”
“Indeed! I thought you looked familiar earlier, but it’s really you, Princess,” Dalton chuckled.
“I didn’t mean to hide it back then,” Vivi smiled.
“What are you two looking at?” Dalton followed their gazes and asked, “That’s a Navy officer, isn’t it? I think it’s Golden Lion. I’ve heard he’s a highly capable and powerful Vice Admiral.”
“Mm?”
Kuro sensed the gaze and turned. Seeing Dalton watching him, he nodded slightly.
“Kuro, who’s that?”
Lida approached, his mouth full, speaking indistinctly. “Who’s that guy?”
“Eat first, then talk,” Kuro said, sipping wine. “That’s Tatsumaki.”
“Huh?” Lida blinked, then glanced again. “Tatsumaki?”
“That’s right. Green clothes, Zoan Bull Form Devil Fruit. Who else could it be besides ‘Tatsumaki’?” Kuro smirked.
There were plenty of people named Tatsumaki. Even Ajax was called Tatsumaki.
Who knew what the Tatsumaki in Mariejois would think upon hearing this.
“Yaa!!”
A sudden shriek pierced through. A massive net ensnared the giant fish officer, yanking her to the ground.
A goofy voice rang out:
“Gotcha! Gotcha! A huge mermaid! She’s huge! I caught her! Freebie! No charge!”
Beside her, a silly-looking guy bounced left and right like a monkey.
