Chapter 791: You Are Surrounded
Chapter 791: You Are Surrounded
Has Harry been rescued?
Sirius Black was initially stunned, but then he was overjoyed and turned to make a run for it.
"In that case, let's hurry too. There are too many of them, and it'll be troublesome if they catch up to us."
But soon, Sirius realized that Kyle hadn't followed and was still standing in his original spot.
"Come on, what are you waiting for?" he urged anxiously. "They'll be here any second now."
As he spoke, a cloud of dark mist appeared nearby, causing Sirius to panic and consider turning back to drag Kyle away.
"Leave? That's out of the question."
Kyle scoffed, "I'm a petty person. After being chased by them for so long, if I don't get my revenge, I won't be able to sleep tonight."
"What nonsense are you spouting now? At a time like this..."
"Fox, it's all up to you now."
Along with a crisp chirp, Sirius Black's figure vanished from the spot.
At the same time, Bellatrix Lestrange and the Death Eaters caught up.
"Clap, clap, clap..." She clapped her hands, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "How noble of you to give up your chance to escape and choose to stay behind. I'm touched."
"Is that so?" Kyle smiled. "In that case, how about you let me go as well? I promise to turn around and leave immediately, without lingering for a second. What do you say?"
As if they had heard a hilarious joke, the Death Eaters burst into laughter.
"Let you go?"
"Do you think you're still in a stroller at Hogwarts?"
"We'll torture you with the Cruciatus Curse until you regret not leaving on your own."
...
The Death Eaters mocked and intimidated Kyle with their words... or perhaps it couldn't be considered intimidation, as they were merely giving him a preview of what was to come.
"Did you hear that?" After a long while, Bellatrix stopped her grating laughter.
"It's a shame," Kyle muttered. "I already gave you a chance."
"What did you say?"
"Nothing, you must have misheard me."
"Don't try any tricks." Bellatrix said coldly. "You can't escape, and as for those who were sent away, we'll get their whereabouts out of you and capture them all again! If you tell us now, you'll suffer less, but I think you'd rather taste the Cruciatus Curse.
"How long do you think you can last? I guess, ten minutes."
"I also guess ten minutes. Want to bet a Galleon?" Kyle said with a smile.
"Ten is nothing." Bellatrix parted her lips, revealing a cruel smile, and raised her wand.
"Wait a moment, I have something else to say." Kyle raised his hand, "Aren't you curious about where I learned that Iron-Armour Curse I used earlier?"
Hearing this, Bellatrix paused.
"Quickly, tell us!" she shrieked.
"It was the Dark Lord who taught it to me. He also wanted me to be his successor." Kyle said calmly, "Maybe in a few years, you'll all become my servants."
"Shut up!"
"How dare you insult the Dark Lord, you're asking for death!"
"Kill him!"
A chorus of curses and shouts filled the air, as no one believed Kyle's words.
Bellatrix didn't believe him either, but she hesitated for a moment, instinctively.
Among all the Death Eaters present, only she knew that the Iron-Armour Curse Kyle had used was identical to Voldemort's.
Impossible... No, it couldn't be.
Bellatrix quickly dismissed the unrealistic thought and glared at Kyle with pure hatred.
"You're asking for it."
"I have evidence." Kyle said again, taking out a box and placing it on the empty ground in front of him.
"The Dark Lord also gave me a token, it's inside here. You'll know the truth once you take a look."
"Do you think I'll fall for such a lame lie?" Bellatrix narrowed her eyes.
"Then how about this." Kyle casually tossed his wand aside, "There are so many of you, and I'm just one person, and now I don't even have my wand. Surely that shows my sincerity.
"Of course, if you're afraid, you don't have to look, but if the Dark Lord gets angry later... tsk tsk, you decide."
Bellatrix's hand, which was holding her wand, paused again, as if she was struggling with something.
And when the other Death Eaters thought of how Voldemort punished people, they fell silent. Perhaps they didn't believe Kyle's words, but they didn't dare take the risk.
What if... the Dark Lord's wrath was not something anyone could bear.
She took a hesitant step forward, but as she gazed at the open box, a sudden sense of dread washed over her.
Intuition caused Bellatrix to pause, but the others' attention was on the box, and they didn't notice her hesitation.
Finally, the group approached the box and peered inside.
The box was pitch-black and empty, and just as they thought they had been tricked and were about to explode in anger, a lucky Death Eater noticed something flashing in front of him.
It seemed like two gemstones, rare orange gemstones.
And then...
Thud... Thud...
Without warning, the Death Eaters who had looked into the box toppled forward and fell still.
"Damn it, it's a trap!" a Death Eater realized and shouted, "Kill him!"
"You're a little too late for that," Kyle said, raising an eyebrow at them.
A snake's head, like a speeding train, shot out of the box. Its scales were a dark emerald green, and its razor-sharp fangs glinted with an eerie light... Oh, and those mesmerizing orange eyes.
Thud... Thud...
The expressions on the Death Eaters' faces froze, and their bodies stiffened as they fell to the ground.
However, whether it was because there were too many people, and the curse was shared among them, or because they didn't directly look into the Basilisk's eyes, the number of people who fell was far fewer than Kyle had imagined. Most of the Death Eaters were still on their feet, clutching their heads and howling in apparent extreme pain.
But it didn't matter anymore.
Kyle casually twirled his finger and summoned a new wand... This was his real wand. As for the one he had thrown away, it was one he had picked up a long time ago.
"Go, leave none alive," Kyle said lightly.
The massive Basilisk immediately surged forward, its fifty-foot-long body crushing anyone in its path as it plowed into the crowd. The Death Eaters, who had been clutching their heads and howling, now forgot their pain and began to scatter in all directions.
During this chaos, many people accidentally looked into the Basilisk's eyes as they fled in panic. But this time, there weren't as many people around to share the curse. They quickly fell to the ground.
"It's a Basilisk! Don't look into its eyes!" someone finally recognized the creature and shouted a warning to the others.
Kyle was surprised. He hadn't expected that even among the Death Eaters, there would be someone who cared about the lives of their comrades.
As a reward, he cast a Binding Curse to slow down the well-wisher's escape and released Norberta from the box.
The Norwegian Ridgeback dragon roared into the sky, and dragonfire rained down, exploding into fireworks on the ground.
Kyle then apparated and appeared on Norberta's head.
He didn't bother with the others and instead commanded the Basilisk from above, directing it straight towards Bellatrix Lestrange in the crowd.
Compared to the minions, she was a truly valuable catch.
Bellatrix was also trying to escape, and although her intuition had saved her from the initial trap, she was still affected by the curse, causing her escape to be noticeably slower. The Basilisk quickly caught up to her.
"Avada Kedavra!"
She screamed, trying to kill Kyle, who was perched on the dragon's head, but because she dared not open her eyes, her aim was so far off it almost hit Dementor. Kyle didn't even need to dodge.
"Damn it, damn it..." Bellatrix screamed hysterically, "The Dark Lord will never forgive you! Never!"
"You make it sound like we could coexist peacefully," Kyle chuckled lightly.
At Kyle's command, the Basilisk swiftly approached Bellatrix.
Sensing the threat of death, Bellatrix panicked. She frantically cast Iron-Armour Curses, trying to block the Basilisk's advance.
However, it was futile.
The Basilisk opened its massive jaws and lunged forward, its fangs piercing her body. Bellatrix immediately fell silent.
Just as Kyle was about to say something, he suddenly felt a sense of dread and instinctively covered Norberta's head with the box in his hand.
The giant dragon disappeared instantly, and Kyle fell from the air.
At the same time, a flash of light, more blinding than any Killing Curse, sped past where he had just been.
It moved so fast that Kyle couldn't even see how it flew by.
Recognizing this unique Killing Curse, Kyle didn't hesitate for a moment. He immediately used the Ring of Resurrection to cast a corporeal Patronus of the Basilisk and sent it into the box.
He looked furious, but not because of Bellatrix; it was because of... the box in Kyle's hand.
"You thief!" Voldemort had never been so angry; his chest heaved as he let out a hoarse roar.
"How dare you steal from the great Lord Voldemort!"
He recognized it; the Basilisk that Kyle had just taken was the one from the Chamber of Secrets in Hogwarts, the one he had used to kill a student during his school days.
In Voldemort's mind, he had long considered the Basilisk his possession, always plotting to return to Hogwarts and release it from the Chamber.
But he never imagined that not only had the Basilisk already been released, but it now belonged to someone else.
This was something he could not tolerate.
"Shameless thief, give me that box, or die!" Voldemort waved his hand angrily.
"That's out of the question." Although Kyle's heart was racing, he pretended to be calm and said, "This is mine, a gift from Salazar Slytherin to his heir."
"You lie!" Voldemort's scarlet eyes deepened, "I am the true descendant of Slytherin, and you are just a pathetic thief."
"Then why does the Basilisk obey my commands?" Kyle rebutted, "That proves my point; you are the fake, and I am the real deal.
"Don't forget, Riddle is a Muggle's surname..."
"Cruciatus Curse!"
A beam of red light hit Kyle, a sensation as if a thousand needles were piercing his body simultaneously, causing his consciousness to blur.
But this was what Kyle had been waiting for; as Voldemort chose the Cruciatus Curse, more suitable for torture, instead of the Killing Curse, Kyle seized the opportunity and endured the pain to use the last chance of magical disguise from the Resurrection Ring.
And so, right under Voldemort's nose, Kyle disappeared.
This caught Voldemort off guard, and upon realizing he had been tricked, the enraged Voldemort roared, unleashing his anger on the surviving Death Eaters nearby.
The Death Eaters never imagined that they would escape the Basilisk and the dragon, only to die by the hand of the Dark Lord they served.
It wasn't until the last Death Eater fell to the Killing Curse that Voldemort lowered his old wand, staring silently at the spot where Kyle had vanished, deep in thought.
More Death Eaters arrived, including Draco Malfoy, but when he saw the scene before him, his face turned deathly pale, and his legs trembled so much that he nearly knelt down.
Fortunately, Lucius was there to support him from behind.
However, his expression was far from pleasant.
The Death Eaters had never suffered such heavy casualties, and even that madwoman, Bellatrix...
Lucius turned his head to look at Bellatrix Lestrange lying motionless in the distance, his throat moving slightly.
"Master!"
Avery approached Voldemort, "What should we do now?"
Voldemort glanced at him, "That fool Bellatrix acted on her own, falling into the trap set by the Order of the Phoenix, and was killed by Dumbledore."
For some reason, Voldemort chose not to reveal the truth to them, instead pinning everything on the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore.
Avery's eyes flickered, and although he had only glanced at the scene earlier, the state of the Death Eaters around them didn't seem like Dumbledore's doing; it was more like...
He quickly pushed those thoughts aside and agreed, "Yes, she was a fool."
"Should we take revenge?" Barty Crouch Jr. joined them, "How about we attack the Ministry of Magic again? That new Minister has been working against us; it's a good opportunity to kill her."
"Then, I leave this matter to you." Voldemort said, "It's up to you to deal with the Aurors and Dumbledore. I await your good news."
Barty Crouch Jr. immediately knelt, "I just want to help you... Master..."
Voldemort didn't even spare him a glance and disappeared without a word, turning into a cloud of black mist.
However, Avery beside him snickered without restraint, "Go to the Ministry then. Good luck, Barty."
"Shut your mouth!" Barty Crouch Jr. glared at Avery with malice.
"Tsk, not only are you stupid, but you also have a temper." Avery shrugged it off, waving his hand dismissively before disappearing with a Disillusionment Charm.
