Chapter 79: The Photoshoot
Chapter 79: The Photoshoot
7:45 PM.
Qiao Sang sat at her desk, planning out the rest of her summer vacation.
It was only July 6th, and high school usually started in early September.
That left her with a bit more than a month and a half.
Fangflare's Points had reached 456. If she added them all to its Level, it would only need 176 days to evolve, assuming a normal increase of 2 Points per day.
She could have Fangflare earn Points through battles and complete an evolution during the summer.
As for the Blazing Trait, she had Fangflare try to activate it this morning, but it couldn't be used with 100% reliability like Skills.
She had done some research on Traits.
The Alliance rated Traits from E to S, a total of six levels.
This wasn't based on their usefulness, but on how well the Trait was utilized.
It was somewhat similar to the proficiency of Skills.
For example, Moonrush Grass's natural tendency to sleep in the rain was an innate E-Rank Trait that couldn't be changed because it couldn't be controlled.
Many experienced Beastmasters would consider the Traits their familiars possessed.
Qiao Sang believed that the Beastmaster Codex's Trait level evaluations might follow the Alliance's standards.
If Fangflare's Blazing Trait required Points or specific conditions to activate, she thought it best to let it develop naturally.
After all, if she needed to rely on Blazing Fire to turn the tide in future battles, she wouldn't consider herself a qualified Beastmaster.
This morning, she had experimented with Skills.
Since they were still in the residential area, Fangflare could only practice Flame Fang using Clones.
Using Clones to train other Skills simultaneously would likely result in complaints from the neighbors.
Five Clones, each releasing eight Flame Fangs, totaling forty.
This was the current limit of Fangflare's energy.
It was a significant improvement from the early days when it could only release about twenty Flame Fangs after a full energy recharge.
Little Treasure Seeker was an unexpected addition.
Initially, she had planned for her second familiar to still be an egg.
However, she didn't mind this unexpected development.
In fact, she even thought it could happen more often...
Little Treasure Seeker was still a newborn pet.
Training it directly would be inhumane.
It could enjoy its childhood for a bit longer, and training could start in a month...
The focus of her summer would still be on Fangflare...
Under the lamplight, the young girl propped her chin on one hand and held a pen in the other, writing and pausing intermittently.
In the living room, the three familiars were playing hide-and-seek.
Little Treasure Seeker, invisible, floated openly on the TV.
Watching Fangflare and Plump Homing Dove search aimlessly in the kitchen, it clenched its short claws to its mouth, feeling a strange excitement.
In another room, she was still on the phone.
"Hello, is this Sister-in-Law? No problem, just a casual call, my Sang Sang..."
...
The next day.
With Little Treasure Seeker perched on her head and Fangflare in her arms, Qiao Sang set off for the Golden Entertainment Tower, where she had an appointment with Song Yuan.
Little Treasure Seeker held a bottle of milk, sipping curiously as it examined its surroundings.
Whenever its gaze met a passerby, they would quickly look away.
This made it feel particularly amused, so it started deliberately staring at people until they noticed it.
In contrast, Fangflare seemed much more mature and serious, unlike its usual self.
It knew today was an important day.
Its Beastmaster had said that if the photoshoot went well, it could drink as much milk as it wanted in the future! And the new little brother's formula would also be earned from this!
18th floor, Golden Entertainment Tower.
"Mr. Song, the person you invited has arrived", a young woman in a business suit reported after knocking on the door.
"Let her in", Song Yuan said, picking up the contract she had prepared.
The young woman didn't leave, standing there hesitantly.
She remembered that her boss had invited the winner of the Newcomer Competition.
Since they were about to discuss a collaboration, Qiao Sang's background had been thoroughly investigated.
A recent junior high school graduate, she had been admitted to Holy Water High School through Special Recruitment and won first place in the Newcomer Competition with her Junior Familiar, Fangflare.
But the file didn't mention that she had a Treasure Seeker. Could it be a wild Supernatural Creature?
Should I report this to the boss...
But the security downstairs seems to be quiet...
"Do you have anything else?" Song Yuan asked.
"No", the young woman, after much consideration, decided to trust the security.
Thirty seconds later.
Song Yuan was stunned when she saw Qiao Sang walking towards her. Instead of immediately greeting her, she picked up the phone and dialed a number.
"Hello, is this the Patrol Department? I have a wild Ghost-type Companion Beast here, a Treasure Seeker. The address is..."
Qiao Sang: "…!"
Qiao Sang hurriedly said, "This is my newly bonded familiar!"
Song Yuan: "!!!"
After a brief but effective conversation, Song Yuan finally hung up the phone.
"I remember you just graduated from junior high school", Song Yuan said with a complicated expression.
"Maybe I'm just a prodigy", Qiao Sang replied.
Song Yuan: "..."
She suddenly didn't want to speak anymore.
After a while, Song Yuan couldn't help but ask, "Why did you bond a Ghost-type familiar as your second familiar? You could have bonded a more manageable familiar first and waited until you were stronger to consider a Ghost-type."
Song Yuan was puzzled.
She wasn't the type to meddle in others' affairs, and she had seen prodigies among her relatives' children, but compared to this girl, they all seemed a bit ordinary.
This made her feel a genuine appreciation for talent.
From the girl's talent, she could see the potential for a professional Beastmaster career.
But bonding an unmanageable familiar too early would waste time dealing with problems and battling wits with the familiar.
She also had to be wary of some radical familiars who might try to break the bond at the cost of mutual destruction.
None of it seemed like the right choice.
They say geniuses think differently from ordinary people, but her relatives' children seemed pretty normal.
Qiao Sang sighed, "Sigh, I didn't want to, but it's a prodigy."
Song Yuan: "..."
She really shouldn't have spoken.
The endorsement and photo shoot proceeded exceptionally well.
Fangflare only needed to model three new season sunglasses, which didn't take much time.
The Little Treasure Seeker watched the entire process with curiosity.
It floated in front of a pink heart-shaped sunglasses that had just been changed and clumsily removed the Ring from its head, placing the sunglasses inside.
Qiao Sang: "..."
She had been closely monitoring the Little Treasure Seeker.
Knowing the habits of Treasure Seekers, she couldn't just let it do whatever it wanted.
Each Treasure Seeker has different preferences, and she wanted to observe what her own Treasure Seeker liked.
She didn't expect it to take the sunglasses.
Could it be that it likes the same things as Fangflare?
Just as Qiao Sang was about to ask the Little Treasure Seeker to take out the sunglasses, it removed the Ring on its own and handed the sunglasses back.
Qiao Sang was quite relieved.
She thought the Little Treasure Seeker had sensed her thoughts.
But then it floated over to Fangflare, who had just finished the shoot, and offered the sunglasses to her.
"Xun xun~"
"Ya~"
Fangflare called out hesitantly.
Qiao Sang: "..."
As the Beastmaster of the two familiars, she, of course, knew what they were saying.
Qiao Sang looked at the Little Treasure Seeker with a peculiar expression.
Was that praise sincere?
It felt like there was a maturity beyond its years in its words...
