Chapter 788: Intimidation (First Update)
Chapter 788: Intimidation (First Update)
Stay calm, staying up all night isn’t a big deal. I’ve done it before... Qiao Sang took a deep breath and gritted her teeth.
“Fine.”
Birit let out a sigh of relief.
To be honest, he felt a bit guilty about suggesting this. Qiao Sang’s situation was special. As an Imperial Class student, she should have a dedicated teacher to guide her. He had never taught Imperial Class students before, and this time, he was only chosen because he happened to be in Supernest. Otherwise, with his qualifications, he wouldn’t have been able to teach Imperial Class.
He didn’t know how the Imperial Class teachers taught their students, but he could imagine they wouldn’t let these prodigies sleep on the ground outside.
Thankfully, Qiao Sang didn’t object...
...
The two of them walked out of the Beastmaster Center.
Looking at the empty street, occasionally passed by a wild beast companion, Birit suddenly felt sentimental. “There are so many wild beast companions in Zone Thirty. No wonder everyone prefers to sleep in the Beastmaster Center even if they have to sleep on the ground at night.”
Zone Thirty has a large population of ordinary people, and many Beastmasters only come here on missions. They usually don’t stay for long, so during their stay, the well-protected Beastmaster Center is naturally their first choice.
Why didn’t you think of this earlier... Qiao Sang didn’t want to continue this depressing conversation, so she asked, “Where should we go next?”
Most bars close around two or three in the morning. By now, almost all the popular and highly-rated bars they had planned to visit tonight were already closed. Apart from bars, Qiao Sang had no idea where else to look.
Birit thought for a moment and said, “How about we go to the wild and catch some familiars that sing well, then gather them to sing one by one?”
That’s actually a good idea... Qiao Sang’s eyes lit up, and her drowsiness vanished.
She had felt tired earlier, not just physically, but mostly because she felt hopeless about finding Adinix. Now she saw a glimmer of hope.
If beautiful music could indeed attract Adinix, then when all the best voices in Zone Thirty were gathered in one place, Adinix would surely appear.
“I think it’s a good idea,” Qiao Sang agreed.
Then she thought of something and asked, “But which familiars sing well?”
Birit was silent for a long time before he spoke. “Like the Echo Beast and Stringbeast. We’re not sure what familiars are in Zone Thirty, but we’ll catch any that sound good or sing well.”
I see, the goal is unclear, and we’ll have to listen and catch as we go... Qiao Sang’s initial enthusiasm cooled down a bit.
The two of them mounted their familiars and headed to an area where wild beast companions lived. It wasn’t hard to find such places; a quick online search would do.
Zone Thirty had several areas where wild beast companions lived. These places were off-limits to ordinary people or low-level Beastmasters, but they posed no significant danger to Birit.
With Birit by her side, Qiao Sang didn’t feel particularly nervous.
Half an hour later, they arrived at a ruin. Everywhere they looked, there were collapsed houses, buildings made of green bricks and wood.
Some beams had fallen, some walls had crumbled, and among the blackened wood and stones, clusters of green weeds grew.
Wild beast companions were seen dozing off in every corner and on the roofs of the buildings. These familiars were all relatively small, and from their size, it seemed none of them were beyond the Advanced level.
“What do we do if the familiars are all asleep?” Qiao Sang asked.
She wasn’t familiar with all the familiars in Supernest, and now that they were asleep, she couldn’t hear their voices to judge if they sang well.
Just as this thought crossed her mind, Birit said, “Watch me. For now, you and your familiar should cover your ears.”
Qiao Sang didn't understand what he was about to do, but instinctively covered her ears and instructed, "Everyone, cover your ears."
"Xunxun~"
The Invisibility Treasure Seeker obediently covered its ears.
"Steel Slash."
The Steel Treasure raised its wings to just below its eyes.
Lulu didn't make a sound, silently zipping up her backpack.
Seeing that everyone was prepared, Birit looked at Fammoth and said, "Howl."
Fammoth nodded, then stepped forward and opened its mouth:
"Fafa!!"
A deafening roar erupted from it.
Invisible sound waves rippled outward.
As the terrifying sound waves spread, from a high vantage point, one could see cracks appearing on the ground within a one-kilometer radius, extending further and further.
Familiars woke up from their slumber, panicking and screeching as they fled in all directions.
"Xunxun!"
The Treasure Seeker, covering its ears, reappeared with an expression that said, "So loud."
Birit closed his eyes, feeling the cries of the familiars around him.
After a few seconds, he suddenly opened his eyes and shouted, "Intimidation."
"Fafa!"
Fammoth let out a cry.
An overwhelming wave of Intimidation emanated from it, spreading outwards.
The powerful Intimidation blanketed the entire ruins.
All the familiars that were fleeing froze, their eyes rolling back as they collapsed to the ground.
Flying-type familiars also plummeted.
Qiao Sang, despite covering her ears, still felt a buzzing in her head from Fammoth's roar. However, when she saw the scene before her, she was momentarily stunned.
So, so strong...
At that moment, she deeply realized the terrifying power of an Imperial Familiar.
"That Panda Bear Fuzzy", Birit said. "And that Clear Tongue, Windpipe, Doxidora, and the Curly-Headed Orange Cat..."
After listing dozens of familiars, he continued, "These familiars had good vocal lines when they cried out. Capture them all."
Wow, so impressive. So many familiars crying out together, and he could analyze which ones had good vocal lines in such a short time... Qiao Sang was dumbfounded, admiring Professor Bilet's abilities while feeling the significant gap between herself and the expert.
"Capture them all", Birit repeated when he saw Qiao Sang's lack of response.
Qiao Sang snapped out of her daze and looked at the Treasure Seeker. "Find them all."
"Xunxun~"
The Treasure Seeker, hearing its Beastmaster's command, ascended to the sky, removed its ring, and took out the Familiar Identifier.
"Panda Bear Fuzzy", Qiao Sang said.
The Treasure Seeker scanned the area.
Soon, its gaze locked onto the target, its eyes glowing blue.
In the next second, a Panda Bear Fuzzy slowly rose into the air.
Qiao Sang then said, "Clear Tongue."
The Treasure Seeker split into two, with the Substitute using Psychic Power to control the familiar while the original held the Familiar Identifier, operating it.
Soon, a holographic screen about ten inches in size appeared in the air.
It displayed a familiar similar in structure to a clam, with a large tongue protruding from it.
The Treasure Seeker quickly locked onto the Clear Tongue.
The moment its gaze fell on the Clear Tongue, the Substitute seemed to know its location and lifted it up.
"Windpipe."
"Doxidora."
"Curly-Headed Orange Cat..."
Qiao Sang listed every familiar Birit had mentioned.
As Qiao Sang called out the names, the Treasure Seeker found and controlled each familiar, bringing them to a clearing.
