Chapter 785: Subarashi!
Chapter 785 Subarashi!
Currently, within the navigational route connecting Dressrosa and G-3...
Two Warships sailed on either side, while a much larger vessel—distinct from the Warships with its grid-patterned decorations—occupied the center. This ship featured not only cannons along its hull but also a prominent hotel-like structure atop its deck.
The ship’s sail bore a striking emblem: a wolf-helmeted head with a wolf tail, crossed by a massive sword.
This was the insignia of Dressrosa’s new king, King David, whose reputation had spread across the world as the “King Conqueror” and “Mad King.”
“Look at this, Kas, Wilbur!” David exclaimed, standing on the expansive deck draped in a hooded cloak, arms wide as he gestured toward the island they’d just passed.
“Ever since the Lord infused funds, Dressrosa’s pressures vanished. This island used to be in ruins, but now—listen to all those construction sounds everywhere!”
Beyond the crashing waves, the two Navy officers flanking David could still hear the fervent shouts echoing from the island. Structures were already rising, with countless more in skeletal frames. The architecture carried the island’s unique charm, inviting admiration.
“Indeed!” One bearded Navy officer nodded solemnly. “Such a sight! Just money alone can ignite boundless passion and hope. Subarashi! David, truly subarashi!”
The other chimed in, excited: “It’s exhilarating! Every island we pass shows this hope—it’s bursting with energy compared to before!”
The two Navy officers—Dougleg·Kas and Wilbur—were tasked with escorting King David. Kas, a resolute figure with a thick mustache and goatee, exuded ironclad determination. Wilbur, clean-shaven, radiated a philosophical mentor’s aura. Both aligned with David, a fellow disciple of Kuromr.’s philosophy and a man striving to fulfill Kuromr.’s will.
“Compared to you two, who can stand by the Lord’s side and directly act on his commands, I’m the one receiving support. If I fail now, I’d betray his trust,” David said, guilt flickering across his face.
His remorse was genuine. News of Gran Tesoro’s destruction had reached him. Unlike others unaware of the perpetrator, David knew the Lord’s vast funds and half of Gran Tesoro’s remains were likely hard-earned rewards. To squander this support for Dressrosa’s sake would be unthinkable.
After the World Meeting, these territories would be his!
“Huh? The Golden Ship?!” Wilbur suddenly spotted a golden glint in the distance. Sunlight refracted off a massive warship emerging from the sea.
“Golden Lion?!” The trio froze.
Kas grinned, signaling to raise flags: “Didn’t expect to meet Kuromr. here!”
“Is the Lord aboard that ship?!”
“Likely. Kuromr.’s on an escort mission to a new nation near Dressrosa—Kolf Kingdom,” Wilbur explained.
“Kolf Kingdom? I know them,” David mused. “They’re not a member state, though. Their king is formidable. Why would they join the World Government? Unless...!”
Realization dawned in his eyes. Kolf Kingdom’s strength lay in its mastery of exquisite stones and Bomb Rocks—natural weapons akin to cannonballs. Its proximity to Dressrosa made it ideal. Previously, invading risked a stalemate, but now funds eased material costs. Yet Bomb Rocks could save costs for construction and weapons. Was the Lord’s mission here for this?
“Lord went to... secure resources for Dressrosa!”
David clutched his eyes, voice trembling: “Forgive my uselessness, Lord!”
A firm slap on each shoulder startled him. Kas and Wilbur stood at his sides, their gaze saying, We understand.
“Kuromr. acts for us, even if he won’t say,” Wilbur said gently. “He’s a noble-hearted superior, hiding his care behind a gruff exterior.”
“Exactly!” Kas’s eyes glistened. “We mustn’t disappoint him. Let’s strive together, David!”
David clasped their hands, nodding fiercely: “The Lord’s wish is my mission. I’ll honor his efforts!”
Their eyes met, a fiery camaraderie igniting the air.
...
“Achoo!”
On the distant Golden Lion, Kuromr. sneezed, rubbing his nose as he gazed through the office window. “That a ship out there? A Warship?”
“Kuromr.,” Klah entered, “We’ve received a call and flags from Kas and Wilbur’s vessel. They’re escorting Dressrosa’s King David and request to accompany us.”
