At that moment, two armies were facing off in the Caribbean, with countless missiles ready to launch. A Soviet warship suddenly broke away from the fleet and charged toward the American fleet.
"If that warship crosses the no-go line, they will immediately launch missiles, and a nuclear war will be inevitable!"
Moira, sitting in the co-pilot's seat, spoke with urgency.
Charles placed his hand on his head and activated his telepathy.
"The crew of the Aral Sea has been killed by the Scarlet Witch, and she is now controlling the ship to sail toward the no-go line. This is Shaw's scheme!"
Knowing that Shaw must be hiding nearby in a nuclear submarine, Charles first controlled a Soviet sailor to fire a missile, destroying the ship driven by the Scarlet Witch to ease tensions between the two armies.
He then instructed the Siren to locate the nuclear submarine using her sonic abilities. Finally, Erik, with all his might, lifted the entire submarine from the ocean floor into the air, intending to carry it away.
However, the opposing mutants were no pushovers. Whirlwind created two massive whirlwinds, causing Charles and his team's aircraft to crash on a nearby deserted island along with the nuclear submarine, and they launched an attack.
"Shaw is absorbing nuclear energy, intending to release it and detonate both sides. Moira, contact both fleets and tell them to retreat."
Freeing himself from the wreckage, Charles immediately sensed Shaw's intentions.
"Shaw is mine!"
Knowing Shaw was inside the nuclear submarine ahead, Erik didn't wait for Charles to finish assigning tasks and charged forward in anger, seeking revenge for his mother's death.
"Try to remove his helmet so I can help!"
Noticing Erik's departure, Charles quickly turned to Jerry, who had silently appeared beside Erik like a ghost.
He immediately ordered Mystique to stand guard and sent Logan to lead a team to neutralize the teleporting Scarlet Witch and Whirlwind before assisting in the fight against Shaw.
"Open up!"
Erik reached the nuclear submarine, and with a wave of his hand, he tore open the sturdy doors and rushed inside, immediately shutting off the nuclear reactor.
Without the nuclear reaction, Shaw, who was in the process of absorbing nuclear energy, had to emerge with his helmet on.
"Why are you—"
"Silence!"
Just as Shaw was about to brainwash Erik, Jerry appeared and silenced him.
Erik and Charles's falling out was partly due to Shaw's brainwashing before his death, a result Jerry did not want to see and the reason he had come along.
