Chapter 782: Mr. Miracle (1st Update)
Chapter 782: Mr. Miracle (1st Update)
"What did you promise him?"
At the Cia Tech Department Base, Jerry asked Charles with a hint of curiosity.
Charles smiled.
"A peaceful life. After we deal with Shang, I plan to turn the castle at home into a school, only for mutant students. Mr. Howlett can become a teacher there, teaching the children how to fight and protect themselves."
"Good idea."
Jerry nodded.
It seemed that the establishment of the mutant school had already been planned by Charles at this point.
It must be said that Charles was quite good at judging people. Ron appeared fierce on the surface, but in reality, he had his own moral boundaries and wouldn't easily harm innocent people.
So, he had long grown tired of war and killing, hoping for a peaceful life.
"Early this morning, he left to find his brother. I wonder if he will be successful."
Charles's eyes held a glimmer of hope.
Logan's brother had similar abilities. If they could recruit him, they would have a better chance against Shang.
However, Jerry shook his head when he heard this.
"I advise you not to get your hopes up."
Logan's brother, known as Sabretooth, was even more powerful than Logan before the latter was injected with Adamantium, but his temperament was brutal and murderous, with no moral boundaries except for his love for his younger brother.
Such a person clearly wasn't a good fit for Charles's team.
Just as Jerry finished speaking, Logan, dressed in a leather jacket and smoking a cheap cigar, walked over to them from the entrance.
"How did it go?"
Charles stepped forward to ask.
Logan shook his head.
"He doesn't want to leave the army or live a peaceful life. We had a big argument, but it's over now. I'll visit him when I have the time."
"It's alright. Maybe in the future, when your brother gets tired of it, he'll choose a peaceful life like you."
Charles was slightly disappointed, but he didn't show it on his face.
At that moment, a figure rushed over.
"Charles, we found a lead on Shang. He's in the Soviet Union."
The person who spoke was the Cia agent, Mara Mactaggert.
Charles turned to Jerry, about to speak, but Jerry, who had already read his mind, interrupted him.
"Sorry, I have some business in New York for the next few days. I won't be able to join you."
"Alright!"
Seeing how straightforward Jerry's refusal was, Charles had no choice but to take Logan and Mara to find Erik.
For Charles, he now wanted to involve Jerry in every mission. On one hand, Jerry always provided them with valuable information they didn't know. On the other hand, Jerry's strength was a significant asset.
Although Jerry had never shown his true strength, the astute Charles had noticed some unusual details about Jerry.
First, Jerry could block his telepathy, indicating that Jerry's telepathic abilities were at least on par with his own.
Second, when Jerry said he had used a lot of energy to modify Hank and Raven's genes, making their appearances change, it showed that Jerry possessed a powerful ability to influence mutant genes.
Third, Jerry's body was also extraordinary. During their search for mutants, Charles had never seen Jerry sweat, even when they had walked long distances and both Charles and Erik were out of breath, Jerry remained unaffected.
And Jerry had once mentioned that he seemed to have lived for a very long time, likely not much younger than Logan.
The final and most subtle point was that Jerry seemed to produce items like money, paper, food, and drinks out of thin air whenever he needed them.
Others might not have noticed, assuming Jerry was pulling these things from his pockets or some other hidden place when no one was looking. However, with his powerful telepathic abilities, he knew that Jerry was indeed producing these things out of thin air.
So he speculated that Jerry might possess a Spatial ability, either Spatial Storage or Spatial Transfer.
"You guys are having quite a blast, huh!"
While Charles and the others were meeting with Cia Director Mckenzie to discuss the next steps in their capture plan, Jerry strolled to the agents' recreational area at the back of the building.
At that moment, Mike, Raven, and the newly recruited mutants were partying, showing off their abilities. The Washington Statue in the courtyard had even been cut in half.
"Jerry, come dance with us! We've given you a new nickname, Mr. Miracle, because you brought a miracle to me and Hank!"
Raven, upon seeing Jerry, stopped dancing with Hank and ran over to invite him.
"I think you guys should tone it down a bit. Charles and the others will be here soon, and it won't look good if they see you like this."
Jerry didn't join Raven in dancing but snapped his fingers.
Suddenly, the entire scene began to reverse. The damaged Washington Statue, the burning lawn, the shattered glass walls, and the messy lounge all reverted to their original state as if time had flowed backward.
"Oh, my God, this really is a miracle! That's so cool!"
The newly recruited mutants couldn't help but exclaim in awe at the changes around them. Even Hank and Raven were wide-eyed, as they had never seen Jerry use such an ability before.
"It seems you've all given yourselves some fitting nicknames?"
After everything returned to normal, Jerry pushed open the glass door and walked into the lounge.
He didn't have any issues with their celebration; they were all in their twenties and had to hide themselves as much as possible every day. It was rare for them to have a chance to let loose and celebrate with their kind.
"Yes, I'm Mystique, Hank is Beast, Salvador is Angel, Sean is Mermaid, Arman is Darwin, Alex is Havok, and we decided to call Charles Professor X and Erik Magneto!"
Raven, now calmer, sat on the sofa and introduced the nicknames they had just come up with to Jerry.
"Pretty fitting. Oh, and here come Charles and the others; you're about to have your hands full!"
Jerry nodded and then seemed to sense something, smiling at the group.
As if on cue, Charles, Erik, Logan, and Mara Mactaggert appeared at the glass door, apparently arguing about something.
"These kids aren't ready; they need training and learning!"
"Learning and training in the field will be more effective; they're not ordinary people."
The argument was mainly between Charles and Erik. Charles believed that the newly recruited mutants were not yet mature enough and needed to be gradually trained before they could undertake missions.
Erik, who had been a killer, disagreed, believing that practical experience was the best way to grow.
