Chapter 782: Ivan: I Really Don't Fit in Ravenclaw
Chapter 782: Ivan: I Really Don't Fit in Ravenclaw
"Keep working hard, and one day you'll make it too!" Ivan stepped forward and patted Anthony on the shoulder, smiling. Then he turned to Hermione and the others. "If you had worked together a bit better, you might have had a chance to take me down!"
Hermione and the others rolled their eyes, not believing a word. Seven of them together couldn't even force Ivan to use his Movement spell, so no matter how well they cooperated, it wouldn't make a difference with such a huge power gap.
Pansy and Hannah exchanged a glance, having personally experienced Ivan's extraordinary magic. They were starting to believe the exaggerated stories their families told.
Ernie Macmillan, on the other hand, wasn't surprised at all. He knew Ivan had been holding back when fighting them.
If it were a real battle, it would probably end in a second because they couldn't block Ivan's magic at all.
Ernie still couldn't forget the memory of that massive Fiendfyre sword that cut through the fog, stretching dozens of meters. He couldn't believe that a wizard could wield such magic; it was like a moving natural disaster!
Ivan was unaware of Ernie's thoughts. When there were many people around, he usually kept his Legilimency at the lowest level to sense malice and didn't have the time to read everyone's minds individually.
After consoling the Prefects' wounded pride, Ivan called the young wizards who were watching to regroup and continue their dueling practice.
During the morning, Ivan had already assessed their strengths, so this time he deliberately grouped those with similar abilities together.
Firstly, this would help them spur each other on, avoiding one-sided matches where one side always won.
Secondly, it made it easier for him to provide guidance since similar abilities meant he only needed a few words to turn the tide.
As Ivan had expected, the students he guided felt like they suddenly became stronger, easily defeating their opponents. They all looked up to him with admiration.
The practice continued until evening. Ivan then selected a few of the fastest-improving students for individual guidance, earning another wave of gratitude.
As for those young wizards dueling the wooden dummies, they were thoroughly beaten. The magic dummies were incredibly agile and durable, and even when half-broken, they could still move around.
To avoid leaving a lasting negative impact on these young minds, Ivan had to repeatedly reduce the dummies' strength, making them easier to handle.
After a series of "tough" battles, the young wizards who finally defeated their "powerful enemies" felt a great sense of accomplishment. The frustration from being thoroughly beaten earlier vanished, and they even left with a hint of reluctance.
As the organizer of the Defence Against the Dark Arts Club, Ivan was one of the last to leave.
Before he went, thinking about that annoying Bronze Knocker, Ivan stopped Luna, who hadn't left yet.
"Do you have time tonight, Luna?" Ivan asked straightforwardly.
"Um... I need to take care of the Crumple-Horned Snorkack and write back to Father..." Luna muttered, listing her evening tasks, then smiled. "But I can do those things tomorrow!"
"That’s good. I’d like to ask for your help. Please meet me on the eighth floor at ten o’clock tonight. It shouldn’t take up too much of your time", Ivan said cautiously, careful not to reveal too much information in case someone was listening.
Luna simply blinked and nodded without asking any questions.
After bidding Luna farewell, Ivan went to Hogsmeade to purchase some magical materials, feeling a hint of excitement.
While he hadn’t figured out the essence of magic, he had thought of another way to pass through the gate!
He suspected that the Bronze Eagle in the Room of Requirement, similar to the one at the entrance of the Ravenclaw Common Room, might show special favor to Ravenclaw students, or perhaps they were one and the same. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a coincidence that they asked the same question!
With this in mind, he had invited Luna to join him at the Room of Requirement later that night.
Success would be ideal, but even if they failed, it wouldn’t be a big deal. Luna was very discreet and wouldn’t casually share the information, as he had already seen this multiple times.
...
As night fell, Ivan found an excuse to leave the dormitory and arrived on the eighth floor of the castle on time.
Luna, dressed in a peculiar robe, was already waiting there.
"It seems I’m a bit late", Ivan said apologetically, feeling a bit embarrassed since he seemed to always be the one who arrived late whenever they met.
"No, I just got here too", Luna shook her head, indicating she didn’t mind. Her eyes were full of anticipation, clearly excited about the midnight adventure.
Ivan didn’t waste any time. After casting a few spells to ensure no one was watching, he walked back and forth in front of a wall three times, then pushed open the door that suddenly appeared and walked in.
Luna followed Ivan into the dark space, but she wasn’t the least bit afraid. Instead, she asked curiously.
"Where are we? Did you find another chamber?"
"Not a chamber, but close. This is the Room of Requirement, established by Rowena Ravenclaw", Ivan replied casually, then raised his wand and cast a spell.
"Lumos Maxima!"
The blue light from the Lumos spell gradually dispelled the darkness, revealing the Bronze Door in front of them.
Luna gazed at it, immediately noticing its resemblance to the door at the entrance of the Ravenclaw Common Room.
"Do we have to answer a question?" Luna asked curiously.
"Yes, let’s give it a try!" Ivan encouraged her.
With Ivan’s expectant gaze, Luna stepped forward to the door, and the Bronze Eagle slowly opened its mouth.
[What is the essence of magic?]
Hearing the familiar question, Ivan felt a bit disappointed. It seemed the Bronze Eagle treated everyone equally and wasn’t as easy to deal with as he had hoped.
Ivan sighed, preparing to call Luna to leave, when the young witch suddenly spoke.
"Magic is just magic. It’s a wondrous thing, invisible and intangible, but it allows us to cast spells and create miracles!"
Luna’s innocent and straightforward answer made Ivan chuckle, but to his surprise, the Bronze Eagle nodded after a moment of contemplation...
