Chapter 781: Surface Scan Used Well
Chapter 781: Surface Scan Used Well
The pirates moved swiftly, quickly surrounding Noardi and encircling him.
The moment the first pickaxe pierced his Body, the pirates' attacks struck in unison. In an instant, Noardi collapsed to the ground, swallowed by the mob.
Years-long enslavement. Years-long helplessness, trapped like an undead husk. No matter how his heart roared, his body remained unresponsive, imprisoned within its own flesh.
Now, finally freed.
And the culprit is dead!
They... won.
"Lion Bite!"
Hiss!!
A sudden howling wind erupted around them, engulfing the entire area where the charging pirates stood. In the blink of an eye, the wind transformed into a dense network of blades, slicing into their bodies. First their heads were severed, then their torsos split apart, scattering like fallen building blocks drenched in spurting blood.
The frenzied carnage froze the remaining pirates in their tracks.
"There’s someone in the sky!"
Sheridan’s pupils constricted as he looked upward. A flicker of golden-white light shimmered faintly in the air, reflecting sunlight.
The light descended rapidly, kicking up a cloud of dust mist upon impact. A hooded cloak billowed as it landed, its edges flaring mid-air. Beneath the swaying hood, a sharp, handsome face smirked arrogantly, a cigar clenched between his teeth as he sneered at the crowd.
"Navy!"
Sheridan’s voice cracked. "They’re already here?!"
"Truly, I expected a better show", Kuro muttered, glancing at the fallen Noardi, whose labored breathing now grew faint.
"Satisfied?" he murmured.
Noardi’s lips trembled. After a long pause, he rasped, "I’m not... satisfied."
"There’s plenty unsatisfied in this world. Whether you like it or not, you’re still a slavemaster. You stubborn lot cling to your beliefs until the very end, never changing."
"I’m not satisfied!!" Noardi cried hoarsely, his eyes dimming as they closed for the final time.
Kuro shook his head, turning away from the old man. He’d long sought death; the outcome was inevitable.
Yet stubborn men like him, if left unchecked, would only become threats. Both sides were trash—neither deserved saving.
This was why Kuro had lingered in the sky, delaying his arrival.
"So, Noardi was here to buy you time?" Sheridan glared at Kuro’s back, but seeing no other Navy forces, his tension eased slightly.
"We outnumber you. What good does one man do? Take him down first!"
"One man?"
Kuro activated the Transponder Snail on his wrist, dialing a number. As the call connected, he said, "I’ll make a call. Warships will arrive shortly."
No sooner did he finish speaking than a blinding cascade of white lights flashed, nearly blinding the battlefield.
When the radiance faded, a group of Navy soldiers stood behind Kuro, their postures rigid, muskets cradled in their arms, exuding grim determination.
"Ready arms!"
Kuro raised his hand.
Clack!
The soldiers snapped into formation, their gun muzzles locking onto the pirates. With a downward slash of Kuro’s arm, he barked, "Fire!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets erupted into an iron curtain, tearing through the pirates.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The remaining pirates clutched their wounds, collapsing in agony.
Guns were weak here, but the sheer Aoe ensured hits. Half their numbers fell in an instant.
The Navy reloaded, resuming fire, but Sheridan lunged forward, shielding the pirates.
"Expansion Jelly!!"
His body ballooned, absorbing the bullets that pierced his translucent flesh, embedding themselves inside.
"Interesting... Logia?" Kuro mused. "Doesn’t seem quite like it. Similar to Katakuri’s ability?"
"Lion Bite", Lucci frowned. "The ‘Immortal Body’?"
"You know him?" Kuro asked.
Lucci nodded. "A pirate once infamous on the Grand Line. Captured twenty years ago with a bounty of 220,000,000 Beri."
"Appetizing!" Lida drooled. "Tastes like jelly!"
"Stop thinking everything’s food! What’s wrong with you?!" Kuro groaned.
"I’m a Jelly Man! Ejection!"
Sheridan roared, his body convulsing as bullets erupted from his flesh, hurtling toward Kuro’s position.
Kuro raised his hand, but Sazil charged ahead.
"Leave it to me, Vice Admiral Kuro!"
The young officer grinned. "A big pirate like this? My perfect opponent!"
"Impact Tide: Chaotic Wind!"
He lunged forward, his fist striking air that erupted into chaotic shockwaves, deflecting the incoming bullets. Vaulting upward, he clenched both fists, swinging them down in a devastating arc.
"Impact Tide: Splitting Wind!!"
Hiss!!
The shockwave surged like a colossal axe blade, cleaving Sheridan’s torso in two.
"Worthless!"
Before the wound could close, Sheridan’s fist shot forward, elongating with Haki-enhanced force toward Sazil.
"Surface Scan!"
Sazil twisted mid-air, the fist grazing his body. Sheridan clenched his teeth, retracting the limb while launching his other fist forward. Both arms blurred like afterimages, hammering Sazil from multiple angles.
Yet Sazil’s body moved like a falling leaf, evading each strike with pinpoint precision.
"Surface Scan, huh?" Lucci narrowed his eyes.
"Used well", Kaku nodded approvingly.
Though the Six Styles was a Navy technique, its mastery often lay with World Government agents. Lucci’s endorsement carried weight—Sazil’s Surface Scan rivaled even the old masters.
"Muda da!!"
Sazil cackled maniacally, catching Sheridan’s arm mid-swell. Using his Devil Fruit ability, he sent the limb flying. Diving downward, he aimed straight for Sheridan’s head.
"Impact Tide!"
His fist, wrapped in Haki, smashed into Sheridan’s skull.
"Storm Punch!!"
Boom!!
The thunderous blow drove Sheridan’s head downward with bone-shaking force.
As the dust settled, Kuro lit a fresh cigar. "There’s more to deal with later. I’ll grab a late-night snack. I’m starving."
