Chapter 781: Go Ahead, All of You!
Chapter 781: Go Ahead, All of You!
A spacious and tidy Training Room appeared before everyone’s eyes.
The Students were thrilled, and many looked proudly at the surroundings, as they had all contributed to its creation!
Ivan waved his wand to neatly arrange a bookshelf and then spoke.
“In the future, this will be our training base. You can all come here to practice Magic every morning on rest days.”
“As for now…” Ivan glanced at the shorter male Witches in the crowd and continued. “All Students in their Third Year and below, head to the right. The Practice Dummies there will be your opponents… the ten Students who destroy the most dummies before we leave will receive an extra share of the reward!”
As Ivan spoke, everyone turned their attention to the right, where over a hundred Practice Dummies stood, moving back and forth without a moment’s rest.
Since these Practice Dummies were made of wood and didn’t seem very threatening, even the first and second-year Young Wizards didn’t take them seriously. They rubbed their hands together eagerly, and some even thought there were too few dummies, feeling they wouldn’t be enough to go around.
Ivan merely smiled, not responding. The animated Practice Dummies were no pushovers, and these young, inexperienced students would be lucky not to cry.
“Pansy, Ron, Anthony, and Hannah, you few will be in charge of guiding them!” Ivan turned to the Prefects and said.
Ron and the others nodded, calling the younger students over to start practicing on the dummies.
After settling the younger students, Ivan turned his attention to the remaining upper-year Students, organizing them into pairs for combat practice.
Soon, the Shrieking Shack was bustling with activity. Spells of various colors flew through the air, and Ivan moved around the room, healing the injured with healing spells and occasionally offering guidance.
“Raise your hand, Seamus! Pay attention to the wand’s flicking pattern… right now, use Petrificus Totalus!”
“Don’t just rely on Shield Charms; most of the time, dodging is the best option…”
“Ernie, I need to remind you that using Blasting Curses during practice is a violation. You still can’t control the power of your Magic.”
...
After making a round through the Shrieking Shack, Ivan was disappointed to find that the over a hundred Students were much weaker in Magic than he had expected.
Only a few could master Protego, and some of the graduates were barely proficient with the Disarming Charm.
This year’s students are not up to par!
Ivan shook his head. When he considered that Snape could create his own spells by fifth year and Sirius Black and his friends had self-taught advanced Transfiguration spells like Animagus transformations, the contrast was stark.
And Tom Riddle, of course, had created Horcruxes and fused bloodlines before he even graduated, making even some Professors no match for him.
Having seen such exceptional individuals, Ivan couldn’t help but marvel at the gap between them and the current students, who hadn’t even mastered basic Magic.
Of course, the main reason for this phenomenon was the long period of peace and the unreliable Defense Against the Dark Arts Professors in recent years.
The morning passed quickly, and as lunchtime approached, Ivan called for a break after the Students had been practicing intensively for two hours.
Following that, Ivan waved his wand and conjured several long tables, instructing Dobby to contact the House-elves in the castle to bring some food over. This way, they wouldn’t have to waste precious time by returning to the castle.
After a simple lunch, Ivan called the resting young wizards to gather around, explaining the important points to note during combat. On a whim, he turned to the Prefects and asked Hermione and the others to come up and demonstrate with him.
“Seven of us together?” Anthony Goldstein asked, somewhat hesitantly.
“Of course!” Ivan nodded.
Thinking about Ivan’s impressive Transfiguration skills and his performance during last year’s Triwizard Cup, Anthony Goldstein finally closed his mouth and took out his wand.
Hermione and the others, who had a rough estimate of Ivan’s strength, silently drew their wands and stood opposite him.
The other young wizards stepped back a few paces, leaving a wide space, eager to watch the demonstration.
Feeling that it still wasn’t quite safe enough, Ivan raised his wand and cast a few Protective Charms to prevent any accidental injuries. Then, he casually stood in the middle and looked at Hermione and the others, saying,
“This battle is just practice, but you can unleash your full power without any restrictions. You don’t need to worry about hurting me!”
Hearing Ivan’s words, the Prefects couldn’t help but frown, and Anthony felt that Ivan was being overly confident. They were Prefects, among the best wizards in their year!
“Expelliarmus!” Anthony, determined to show Ivan his strength, immediately waved his wand and shouted loudly.
Hermione and the others didn’t dare to slack off and raised their wands to cast spells.
“Stupefy!”
“Reducto!”
“Sectumsempra!”
A series of spell beams shot out in a conical shape, quickly reaching Ivan’s eyes.
However, such a minor situation was not even a warm-up for Ivan. He simply lifted his wand, and a magic barrier appeared around him, deflecting all the magic aimed at him.
While casually countering their spells, Ivan didn’t forget to offer advice on how they could effectively cooperate to bring him down.
“Pay attention, don’t fight alone. Work together and cast spells at the same target in a short period. Only then might you break through my Shield Charm!”
“Remember to change your positions constantly, Ron. Don’t always stand in the same spot while casting; it’s a big no-no in combat!”
Under Ivan’s constant guidance, Hermione and the others, who were initially fighting individually, gradually developed some coordination and worked better together.
However, they soon realized in despair that no matter how perfectly they coordinated their attacks, Ivan always managed to counter them with ease. For a full five minutes, they couldn’t even force Ivan to move.
The battle quickly ended when Ivan switched to the offensive. Looking at the Prefects who had been knocked down, looking like defeated roosters, Ivan shook his head with a smile. He had held back as much as possible; otherwise, the fight would have ended in seconds.
“I dare say even the Professors aren’t as skilled as you, Ivan!” Anthony panted as he got up from the ground, his eyes full of admiration and disbelief. The bit of dissatisfaction he had felt earlier had been completely dispelled during their confrontation.
