Chapter 780: Unique Bars (First Update)
Chapter 780: Unique Bars (First Update)
"Success, success, I can see them!"
After a series of operations by Hank, the massive machine connected to the helmet finally started. Under the influence of Cerebro, Charles sensed the presence of mutants in the surrounding city.
As Charles spoke, a smile appeared on Erik's face.
"The coordinates of the first mutant have appeared."
Hank pulled out a sheet of white paper from the machine, which displayed a very precise set of coordinates.
"I knew it, we have many companions out there!"
Charles clenched his hands, continuously stimulating his brain waves, feeding the coordinates of the mutants he sensed into the machine's printer.
In just fifteen minutes, they accumulated twenty sheets of paper with coordinates written on them.
"Alright, Hank, turn off the machine. Charles is at his limit."
Noticing that Charles's mental energy was about to be depleted, Jerry reminded Hank to shut down Cerebro.
Charles was still young, and his abilities were not fully developed. His mental strength was certainly not as strong as it would be in his later years. Being able to use Cerebro for fifteen minutes was already quite remarkable.
Sure enough, when Hank turned off the machine and removed the helmet, Charles swayed as he stood up, almost fainting.
Fortunately, Raven reacted quickly and caught him.
"Charles, how are you?"
Following Raven, Erik approached, looking somewhat anxious.
As a killer who had been brutally trained from a young age, filled with a desire for revenge, Erik had few friends. He was always alone.
Charles, who could understand him, was perhaps the first friend Erik truly recognized in his heart.
If not for Charles, Erik would have left with all the information about the Black King on the night he joined the Cia.
"I'm fine. We should set out as soon as possible; the coordinates can change at any time!"
Charles shook his head, trying to clear his mind, and then spoke to Erik.
Cerebro indeed helped Charles pinpoint the exact locations of nearby mutants, but mutants were living beings, not stationary objects. Their positions could change at any moment.
"Let's go!"
Erik thought for a moment and took Charles from Raven.
They had negotiated hard with the Cia to take on the task of finding mutants themselves. They couldn't afford to return without any results, or the Cia agents would interfere, which was not what Erik wanted.
"Jerry, do you want to come with us? You're just idle here anyway."
Just as they were about to leave, Charles remembered something and turned to Jerry with a smile, extending an invitation.
Erik's face showed a hint of surprise at Charles's invitation, clearly not part of the original plan, but he didn't object.
Jerry looked at Charles, thought for a moment, and then nodded.
Indeed, staying here to help Hank with problems was the only thing he did. Joining Charles and Erik in recruiting mutants seemed like an interesting venture.
He understood Charles's small intentions but didn't care.
Just like when he had helped Raven and Hank return to their normal human forms, he had claimed it was a significant effort, but in reality, it was just a minor use of Magic.
As long as we can smoothly obtain the Phoenix Force from the multiverse later, helping with this small task in the early stages isn't a big deal.
By taking the Phoenix Force from Jean Grey and giving some assistance to her future school, teachers, lovers, and friends, it can also be considered a form of compensation for her.
It was evening, and they stood outside a large, extravagantly decorated bar in Washington.
"I hope this time, it will be successful!"
Erik made a slight gesture, and the metal door of the bar automatically opened. Charles and Jerry stepped in together.
Since they left the laboratory, they had already visited five coordinates, but they hadn't managed to recruit a single mutant.
Four of the coordinates were empty, clearly indicating that the mutants who were previously located had moved from their original positions and were now somewhere else.
One coordinate was fine, but the mutant there was just a six or seven-year-old child, not meeting the criteria for recruitment into the Cia.
"Looks like it's a unique bar."
Jerry looked around the noisy bar, where women were dancing provocatively on the tables, and couldn't help but smile.
Erik and Charles, standing beside him, also smiled, sharing a knowing look that only men could understand.
In their younger days, Professor X and Magneto often visited bars of this type for leisure.
Charles, being a descendant of British nobility, was wealthy and handsome, making him a regular at such bars. Jerry first met him during a wild night at one.
Erik, as a killer, would often go to bars to release stress after a job or to spend a night with a beautiful woman. His son, Quicksilver, was the result of one such encounter.
So, the two were quite familiar with this kind of bar, while this was Jerry's first time entering one.
Although Jerry had lived for many years, traveled to many worlds and universes, he spent most of his time studying magic, researching laws, and working on ways to enhance his own power.
His leisure time was mostly spent with Hermione, his family, or enjoying the scenery.
The bars he visited most often were the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley and the Hog's Head and Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade Village. This kind of uniquely styled bar was a first for him.
"Found her, she's the girl in the black lace lingerie dancing on the table in the middle."
Charles placed his index finger on his temple and used his telepathic ability, quickly pinpointing the mutant's location within the bar.
Without Cerebro, Charles's range for detecting mutants was greatly reduced, but covering the entire bar was still manageable.
As long as the mutant didn't stray too far from the initial location, especially if it was a home or workplace, Charles could generally find them.
"Let's go say hello!"
Jerry, feeling a sense of novelty on his first visit to this type of bar, took the lead and walked to the table in the middle, sitting down to watch the performance.
Charles and Erik exchanged smiles and sat down on either side of Jerry, ordering triple drinks from the waiter.
Finally finding a mutant who met the recruitment criteria and seemed likely to be recruited, the two men's previously gloomy moods improved significantly.
