Chapter 780: Ivan: I Will Reveal Everything the Ministry of Magic Has Concealed!
Seize back the Casting Rights from the Ministry of Magic?
The young wizards present were quite puzzled, struggling to understand Ivan's meaning.
Hermione, however, grasped some of it and translated Ivan’s words with a hint of exasperation. "Are you saying that the Ministry of Magic has let Umbridge forbid us from learning Protective Charms, so we have to learn them on our own?"
"That's one way to put it..." Ivan nodded, not contradicting her, but instead continued, addressing the hundred pairs of eyes watching him.
"I hope you haven't forgotten Umbridge’s speech at the Opening Feast. She, representing the Ministry of Magic, told us that the British Wizarding World is very peaceful, with no disputes or chaos. She said we can all put away our wands and study magic in the safety of Hogwarts..."
"But I think you all know this is nothing but a complete lie!" Ivan scanned the room, his gaze sharp as he silently cast a Sonorus Charm on himself.
"Think about it, everyone! Four years ago, Quirrell; three years ago, Lockhart; two years ago, the Dementors and Peter Pettigrew; and the chaos at the Triwizard Cup just a few months ago!"
"These are things we have all experienced firsthand, proving that the Ministry of Magic is lying. Danger has never been far away, and the Wizarding World is not safe!"
"And what did Minister Fudge and his Aurors do when we faced danger and were left helpless?"
"They provided us with no effective help at all!" Ivan stated firmly. "Nor did they fulfill any of their promises!"
"The Ministry of Magic has only disappointed us time and time again, allowing Dementors to wreak havoc at Hogwarts, creating chaos, and even wrongly imprisoning a hero of the Wizarding World in Azkaban for thirteen years!"
At this point, a mocking smile appeared on Ivan's face as he spoke each word deliberately. "The Ministry of Magic excels at issuing safety statements after the fact, maintaining a false sense of harmony and peace, suppressing anyone who dares to speak the truth, and trying to deceive our parents that all danger was just an accident..."
"But this Ministry of Magic, full of lies, continues to arrogantly command us, telling each of us to give up learning the magic that can protect us, and to waste our time and energy on dull, meaningless classes..."
"They are afraid! Afraid that we will see through their lies, know the truth, and more importantly, that we will break free from them and gain the power to protect ourselves..."
Ivan's loud voice echoed continuously in the Shrieking Shack, his rhythmic words quickly stirring the young wizards' anger and bringing back the dangers they had experienced in this castle.
The fear the Dementors brought two years ago was still fresh in many minds!
They also remembered that when those disgusting creatures descended from the sky, intent on harming them, it was not the Ministry of Magic's Aurors who stood in front of them, but Hogwarts' hero, the magnificent Dragon Knight Ivan Hals!
Seeing the right moment, with the young wizards now accepting his ideology, Ivan pointed at the door of the Shrieking Shack and spoke.
"If any of you still believe the Ministry of Magic’s rhetoric and expect Aurors to arrive in time when you face danger, then you are free to leave now. I won’t stop you!"
"But... if you are determined to take up your wands to protect yourselves, your loved ones, and your friends, then I formally welcome you to join the Defence Against the Dark Arts Association!"
As Ivan finished speaking, Luna immediately stood up, her tone light and cheerful. "I believe you, Hals. The Ministry of Magic is all a bunch of liars! My father says they're even more annoying than Nargles..."
"Right! The Ministry of Magic has no right to stop us from learning Protective Charms. We need to reclaim our Casting Rights!" Ernie Macmillan quickly chimed in, showing his firm support for Ivan's beliefs.
After the two spoke up, more and more Young Wizards raised their hands, declaring their intention to join the Defence Against the Dark Arts Association. In the end, even the Slytherin students joined in, and not a single person left!
"I'm very glad to have your trust!" Ivan looked at the enthusiastic young wizards and smiled. "Next time you come here, I will reveal everything the Ministry of Magic has been hiding from us!"
Ivan's words piqued everyone's curiosity. Could the Ministry of Magic be hiding even more secrets from them?
However, after arousing their curiosity, Ivan didn't provide an answer. Instead, he immediately shifted the topic and began organizing today's study session. He divided the 168 Young Wizards into groups based on their year and house, with the Prefects responsible for managing each group.
"Are we training here?" someone in the crowd shouted after Ivan finished assigning the groups.
Ivan glanced over and saw that it was Colin, a year younger than him. However, many of the other young wizards also had concerns about the training ground.
After all, the Shrieking Shack had been abandoned for a long time. It was dirty and cluttered, with dust everywhere and a musty smell in the air. The only thing it had going for it was its spaciousness, making it far from an ideal training ground...
Ivan understood their concerns and asked with a smile, "What do you think a proper Training Ground should have, Colin?"
"Um... some Combat Dummies?" Colin thought for a moment, unsure.
"Great, Combat Dummies!" Ivan nodded and then waved his wand at a corner of the Shrieking Shack. The old, moldy tables and chairs began floating in the air, twisting and transforming. Within seconds, over a hundred dummies stood up.
Not only that, but these Combat Dummies had wheels at their bases. Driven by magic, they moved around continuously, not just static targets but ones that could run, jump, and even counter-attack!
Colin and the others were left speechless, their jaws dropping in amazement.
"Does anyone else have any requests?" Ivan put down his wand and looked at the crowd.
The students' eyes lit up. They finally understood that Ivan was preparing to transform the place using Transfiguration. They immediately started discussing their ideas.
"We need a place to sit and rest, and the dust on the floor should be cleaned up!"
"The windows need fixing, or they'll let in drafts..."
"We need bookshelves and cabinets..."
"How about some decorations over there?"
...
Ivan listened to everyone's suggestions and waved his wand accordingly.
Under the effects of the Transfiguration Spell, the wooden floor was replaced with smooth, neat stone tiles. The damaged walls were repaired, and the fallen bookshelves were restored and refreshed. Even the broken bricks and debris were transformed into beautiful decorative items.
However, Ivan didn't do everything himself. After handling the major renovations, he took the opportunity to explain the key points of Transfiguration and delegated the remaining tasks to the older young wizards.
An hour later, the dilapidated Shrieking Shack was completely transformed...
