Chapter 78: So-called Speeches Are Just Leaders Blabbering
Chapter 78: So-called Speeches Are Just Leaders Blabbering
The next day, as soon as Luk opened his shop, he saw Naruto waiting outside.
Kakashi must have used some method to inform Naruto that he had agreed to his request.
Luk glanced at the unusually tidy kid and waved him over. "Have you had breakfast yet?"
Naruto shook his head nervously.
"What do you like to eat?"
"Ichiraku Ramen!"
"Eating noodles every day isn't healthy."
Luk glanced at Ichiraku Ramen, which had already opened for business, and sighed. Actually, when he had beaten up Ayame's father yesterday, the old man had nearly gone crazy. He had immediately blacklisted Luk from the shop, and no one could talk him out of it.
Luk took Naruto to buy two servings of grilled meat as the main course and a few skewers of tricolor balls for dessert. He handed the food to Naruto as he walked over and asked casually, "Why did you stand so far away while buying the food?"
"If I stood next to you, the owner might have raised the price."
"…Alright."
How did Naruto manage to make every conversation so heavy with just a few words!
After they finished eating, they walked around the street for a bit to digest their food before heading to the Ninja Academy. The chunin at the entrance registered them briefly.
"Name?"
"Uzumaki Naruto."
"And you?"
"Senkai Luk."
The chunin raised his eyebrows, glanced at them for a moment, and then let them pass without asking any more questions.
The school was bustling with activity on the first day, filled with new students and their parents. To prevent getting separated in the large crowd, Luk took Naruto's hand. They had only taken a few steps when Luk noticed Naruto's grip tighten. A stern and serious man, dressed in jounin attire and the Uchiha fan symbol, walked past them, leading a black-haired, black-eyed child who looked quite aloof.
The aloof child glanced at Luk but quickly focused his attention on Naruto. Naruto did the same, and their gazes clashed intensely for a few seconds, like two martial arts masters exchanging blows. They went back and forth, advancing and retreating, entangled in a fierce exchange, almost like a perfect match.
It was clear that the only one who could engage the protagonist in such a heated exchange was the second male lead, Uchiha Sasuke, not even the female lead could match that.
The new students and their parents formed two groups. The children, closer to the stage, were preparing to listen to the Third Hokage's speech on the Will of Fire, while the parents waited in the back.
Luk walked over to the parents' group, where a variety of high-quality ninja caught his eye, such as the Ino-Shika-Cho trio (the Yamanaka, Nara, and Akimichi clans), the Inuzuka clan known for their human-animal fusion techniques, and the Aburame clan who raised insects.
The most significant figures were the head of the Hyuga clan, Hyuga Hiashi, and the leader of the Uchiha clan, Uchiha Fugaku.
Luk's first choice for analysis was Uchiha Fugaku. Although the manga didn't show it, the TV original depicted him as having the Mangekyou Sharingan.
As the progress bar slowly advanced, the Third Hokage made his grand entrance, drawing the attention of everyone.
This long-standing leader of Konoha was indeed a seasoned politician. He spoke eloquently, covering topics from the feuds of the Warring States period to the peace established by Konoha, from the current state of the ninja world to the happiness of the villagers. He droned on for quite a while.
As Luk listened, he started to feel something was off. The speech seemed to be subtly targeting Uchiha Fugaku!
He secretly glanced at Fugaku, who remained unusually calm, showing no emotion.
Despite the ongoing rebellion plots within the Uchiha clan, Fugaku could send his son to the Ninja Academy with a straight face and interact naturally with others. Now, even with the Third Hokage indirectly pointing him out, he could still maintain this composure. That was truly impressive.
"Where the leaves of Konoha flutter, the fire will burn endlessly. The flames will continue to illuminate the village and nurture new leaves."
After the opening remarks, the Third Hokage launched into the familiar process of passing down the Will of Fire. He droned on, emphasizing the importance of everyone contributing to the village, working hard, and dedicating themselves. Only then could the village continue to thrive.
"Don't think about what the village has done for you; think about what you can do for the village."
To Luk, this sounded like a line even a pyramid scheme wouldn't use.
The children listened with shining eyes, their admiration for the Third Hokage obvious. The adults, however, remained expressionless. Most had either been through their clan's indoctrination or were too experienced to be swayed by such rhetoric.
The speech was unusually long, and it was clear that the Third Hokage had made a significant decision after learning about the Uchiha. He was determined to instill the Will of Fire into the next generation of Konoha!
Luk supported this effort. He had already analyzed Fugaku Uchiha and was now making progress with Hiashi Hyuga. He was considering whether to analyze the Third Hokage if he kept droning on.
Unfortunately, just as Hiashi's progress bar hit the halfway mark, the Third Hokage ran out of steam. Though he seemed to have more to say, his speech was over.
The opening ceremony concluded, and the children rushed into their classrooms. Naruto turned back and bowed politely to Luk, a gesture that was uncharacteristic of the real Naruto.
"Thank you, Brother Luk."
"Sure, study hard and pay attention in class," Luk said simply, then noticed the child casually lifting his sleeve to wipe his reddening eyes.
Ah, this...
Luk couldn't help but shake his head. Orphans like Naruto were indeed pitiable.
While his own start might have been ordinary, at least he had a complete family and a relatively comfortable childhood. Naruto, despite his extraordinary identity, had barely enjoyed any real comforts.
Feeling a bit embarrassed by his own performance, Naruto lowered his head and walked into the crowd, waving at Luk from a distance with a big smile before running into his classroom. It was clear the boy was excited about school life.
Luk hoped he wouldn't be too upset when he became a dead-last in the future.
Luk looked up at the bright sun and started walking home, eager to see what Fugaku Uchiha had given him.
Back home, his father informed him that Might Guy had come by, taken on a mission, and set off for the Land of Iron.
Relieved that the biggest threat was gone, Luk smiled and nodded, then returned to his room and entered the mysterious space.
...
Today's gathering in the mysterious space was particularly well-attended.
All the Luks had gathered around a table.
"Let's get to the point. I have a date with a legal lolita," the Otherworldly Luk said first.
"This guy is beyond redemption. He's a total scumbag now."
Shinigami Luk sighed regretfully. When the Otherworldly Luk first joined, he was a pure love enthusiast. People do change.
"How hasn't White Syne succeeded yet? She just wants a warm meal; how hard can that be?"
"It's inevitable. Whenever she wants to eat, something always goes wrong. She's definitely cursed."
Morphing Luk listened with mixed feelings. "Do you think, if I want a partner, I should look for a human or a Pokemon?"
"Of course, you should have both! Isn't Articuno around? Quickly impregnate it with the Luk gene and make it lay an egg!"
"Moron, Articuno is genderless. It can't lay eggs."
Lamdragon Luk watched the argument silently, deep in thought. He was also a non-human Luk. Once he grew up, should he go to Kumogakure to see if the Lamdragons there were male or female?
If they were male, would two male dragons fight?
Seeing the conversation veering into inappropriate territory, the Hokage Luk clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Everyone, let's save the xp talk for later. I have a plan in the works. Do you have any suggestions?"
"What plan?" x6
The Hokage Luk pulled out a piece of paper with large letters written on it.
