Chapter 78: Husband and Wife
Chapter 78: Husband and Wife
Jiang Xia woke up feeling refreshed, only to find herself lying with her head on Zhou Chenglei’s arm, her limbs sprawled across his body, using him as a human pillow.
Of course, this human pillow was lying flat on his back, his long arms wrapped around her waist.
Jiang Xia wasn’t one to sleep in, and the sky was already bright. She glanced at the watch on the bedside table—it was 7:30.
She had never slept in this late before!
Zhou Chenglei was still asleep, so she carefully removed his hand, propped herself up, and planned to get out of bed.
Zhou Chenglei had already woken up once. His internal clock was always on time, and he would wake up at the same hour every day.
Usually, he would go for a run, but it was raining today, so he stayed in.
In the past, even on rainy days, he would wake up and get out of bed, never lingering in bed.
Today, he was a bit reluctant to wake her, afraid of disturbing her, and ended up drifting back to sleep.
Now, as Jiang Xia moved, he woke up again. The sight before his eyes made his breath catch.
"Where are you going?" His voice was raspy, and his rough hand gripped her slender waist.
Jiang Xia was pulled back onto him by his strong arm. She pressed his hand to stop him.
"It's almost eight, it's too late, I need to get up."
Zhou Chenglei rolled over and looked at her lazily. "It's raining, and there's nothing to do. Why get up so early?"
Jiang Xia's heart raced. "Mom and Dad are outside..."
She could hear Zhou’s parents talking.
A shadow loomed over her, and his lips sealed her words.
Zhou Chenglei kissed her gently.
He then tilted his head to find her neck...
The rain outside tapped softly against the closed, carved glass window. On the desk by the windowsill, high school textbooks were neatly arranged, creating a serene and cozy atmosphere.
The morning sea was gentle, its waves softly lifting and dropping the fish.
Jiang Xia, unable to control herself, kept hearing Zhou’s parents talking outside, causing her to bite her lip.
Zhou Chenglei, noticing this, feared she might hurt herself and lowered his head to pry her lips apart.
Sweat trickled down his neck...
When the storm finally calmed, the rain had stopped, and the sun peeked through the clouds.
The two lay quietly in each other's arms.
Zhou Chenglei kissed her forehead.
She was his wife now.
Jiang Xia reached for the watch on the bedside table to check the time, but her arm was still weak and trembling.
Zhou Chenglei picked up the watch from under the pillow, glanced at it, and then put it back down.
"What time is it?"
Zhou Chenglei gently pushed the hair sticking to her forehead and face away, wiping the sweat from her nose.
"A little past ten-thirty."
Ten-thirty? It's already noon!
Jiang Xia quickly sat up. "We need to get up!"
Zhou Chenglei followed suit, looking at her with a smile in his eyes. "What's the rush?"
Jiang Xia’s face flushed under his gaze, and she glared at him. "Get up! It's already noon!"
Her voice was sweet, with the softness of a southern Chinese woman, and a hint of coquettishness she had never shown before.
Zhou Chenglei: "..."
She was killing him!
Don’t look at him like that!
Zhou Chenglei couldn’t resist lowering his head again.
"Knock, knock..." The sound of a knock on the door was followed by Zhou’s mother’s voice. "Aolei, the production team said there’s a call for Xiaxia. She needs to take it by eleven."
Even though the door was closed, Zhou Chenglei quickly pulled the blanket that had been kicked to the corner over them and replied, "I know."
Jiang Xia’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest as she pushed him away.
She sat up, grabbed the blanket to cover herself, and began searching for her clothes.
Her clothes and the blanket had been kicked to the corner, and some of her smaller items were probably buried under the blanket, making them hard to find.
"Don’t rush," Zhou Chenglei said, holding her arm and giving her a look.
Jiang Xia: "……"
Her face turned beet red, and she kicked at him. "Don't look! Get out!"
Zhou Chenglei's eyes twinkled with amusement. "I won't look. Don't make me leave. I'll find you some clothes."
Zhou Chenglei got out of bed without a care and walked over to the wardrobe.
Jiang Xia glanced at him, and she couldn't help but notice his impressive physique. Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs, and a well-defined abdomen...
Her face flushed, and she quickly looked away.
Her cheeks burned even hotter, and she buried her face in the sheets, flustered. "Just get out already!"
Zhou Chenglei: "……"
Why was he being kicked out again?
He still found a set of clothes for Jiang Xia, the new ones he had bought for her. He even picked out some undergarments and placed them on the bed. "I've found your clothes. Do you want me to bring in a basin of hot water for you?"
Zhou Chenglei stretched out his hand to pick up a pair of pants from the corner of the bed.
Jiang Xia immediately shook her head. "No need!"
If he did that, the whole world would know what had happened.
Zhou Chenglei then took a black suit pant from the wardrobe. "Should I bring a bucket of water to the bathroom for you to shower?"
Jiang Xia: "……"
She didn't usually shower in the morning. Suddenly doing so would only make things more suspicious.
"No."
"Then I'll bring in a basin of hot water."
"Fine." Zhou Chenglei put on a shirt and said, "Lie down, and I'll open the door and go out."
Even though there was a curtain, he would still have to lift it to go out.
If someone saw her still in bed...
Jiang Xia quickly said, "No! Don't open the door! Wait a bit before you go out."
"Alright." Zhou Chenglei's lips curved into a smile. He had never seen her so contradictory and adorable.
She was so shy, it was endearing!
"Turn around!"
Zhou Chenglei: "……What if I don't?"
Jiang Xia glared at him. "Turn or not?"
She didn't realize how beautiful her eyes were, bright and lively. Glaring at him like that, it had no real effect, but rather...
In short, Zhou Chenglei couldn't resist her gaze.
Her glare made him feel like he was in trouble!
Even a sage like Liu Xiaohui couldn't withstand such a look!
Zhou Chenglei feared he wouldn't be able to leave the room, and he needed to go outside to take a call. So, he turned around and didn't look at her.
Jiang Xia glanced at the clothes he had picked out. "Why this set? It's so inconvenient."
Wearing a dress for housework was impractical and easy to get dirty.
She had no choice but to put on her nightgown.
Zhou Chenglei said, "We're not going out to sea today, and it should rain tomorrow. We'll visit our parents this afternoon and stay in the city for the night, then head back home tomorrow."
Jiang Xia thought about it and agreed. "Alright."
After changing, Jiang Xia checked herself, making sure everything was in order. She sat down at the desk and opened her high school textbook, then said, "You can open the door now."
Zhou Chenglei looked back and saw her seriously reading. "……"
He couldn't help but smile, but he didn't dare laugh out loud. He opened the door and quickly brought in two basins of water, closing the door behind him.
Jiang Xia put down her book and looked back. "Are you going to wash up in here? Not take a shower?"
He usually showered after his morning run.
"Not really, I just need to clean up."
"Clean what?" Jiang Xia was confused.
Then, she saw Zhou Chenglei take something out and clean it in the water.
Jiang Xia: "……"
No!
Wasn't that thing supposed to be disposable?
"Make sure you clean it thoroughly!" Jiang Xia said hurriedly and rushed out.
She couldn't bear to watch!
