Chapter 778: Deal (First Update)
Chapter 778: Deal (First Update)
"How did you all get here?"
Seeing Charles and Erik following closely behind Hank and Raven, Jerry raised an eyebrow.
Hank scratched his head, looking a bit helpless:
"I just went to find Raven, and Professor Charles and Erik were there, then—"
"Then I used a bit of my ability. I apologize, I don't usually use my powers on my friends, but this involves Raven, and I had to be cautious."
Before Hank could finish, Charles stepped forward to explain.
When Hank came to find Raven, he was speaking hesitantly, clearly hiding something.
Although Hank was a mutant, he was also an agent of the Cia. Having only known each other for two days, Charles naturally didn't trust Hank completely. So, when Hank came to find Raven, Charles immediately used his telepathy.
After using telepathy to understand Hank's purpose, Charles couldn't let Raven go with Hank alone.
"Alright, it's not a big deal. Shall we start now?"
Jerry waved his hand. He wasn't angry, just a bit surprised.
But it made sense. Apart from Morph Raven, Charles wouldn't restrict the use of his abilities, especially in the Cia, where he would be even more cautious.
"Let's start. I'm ready."
As soon as Jerry spoke, Hank immediately responded with excitement.
He had been waiting for a long time to become a normal human. When he initially delved into biology alongside his expertise in physics, it was to cure his hirsutism and live a normal life.
"And you, Miss Raven?"
Jerry turned to look at the beautiful and seductive Morph Raven.
Raven's expression was a bit lost. She opened her mouth to answer, but Charles suddenly spoke up:
"Raven, I think you should consider this a bit more. We don't have to rush into a decision."
Charles wasn't entirely opposed to Raven wanting to become a normal human; he just didn't think it was necessary. He didn't believe mutants were superior or that they should be discriminated against.
If Raven truly felt anxious about her appearance, becoming a normal human could be a good choice.
He was advising Raven out of concern. He was skeptical about Jerry's ability to turn mutants into normal humans and worried the outcome might not be perfect.
To be honest, he could see through everyone they had met, including Erik, with or without his telepathy. But he couldn't see through Jerry. Not only could he not read Jerry's mind, but the few days they had spent together had left him with a certain feeling.
Firstly, Jerry's appearance at the Cia was too coincidental. When the agents found him, Jerry just happened to be there, and he conveniently knew all the information about the Black King and was willing to share it.
The Black King had managed to remain hidden for so long; it was unlikely that he would reveal his intentions and abilities so easily.
Secondly, the Cia agents had informed him that there was no record of Jerry Carmen in their system, as if he had appeared out of nowhere.
Lastly, although Jerry had been with them, claiming he didn't want to see the Black King's plot succeed, he hardly participated in their activities or showed much interest in the Black King's movements. Instead, he often went sightseeing or visited the laboratory to chat with Hank about biology.
It just didn’t feel right overall.
"But do you think I look good like this?"
Hearing Charles's words of encouragement, Raven transformed into her blue, Avatar-like original form and then undid the leather jacket she was wearing, tossing it to the ground.
"Oh, Raven, what are you doing? Put your clothes back on!"
Seeing Raven's appearance, Charles quickly turned away and reached out to block Erik's view as well.
To him, Raven was like a girl he had raised, like a sister, a family member. Even though she was in her original form, being naked was no different from being unclothed, and he couldn't bear to look.
However, his action clearly gave Raven a different interpretation, and disappointment gradually showed on her face.
"Of course, you still think I look ugly, like a monster."
Raven turned to Jerry.
"Jerry, please, I want to look like a normal person."
Jerry was about to speak, but Erik pushed Charles's hand away, walked straight to Raven, and looked at her with sincere eyes.
"No, I think this is the most real you, the most beautiful you. You shouldn't feel inferior. You should be proud. You don't need to change yourself for anyone. You are you, a unique mutant in this world.
If you become a normal person, you won't be a mutant anymore, and you won't be the same species as Erik and Charles."
Raven, who had been determined, heard Erik's words and her lizard-like yellow eyes narrowed. Her face showed hesitation once again.
One of the reasons Magneto could gather a large group of loyal mutants was not just his power but also his unique personal charm.
He truly felt proud to be a mutant and genuinely believed that Raven looked the most real and beautiful in her current form.
If one day Raven became a normal person and ceased to be a mutant, he would no longer see her in the same light.
Seeing the situation, Jerry's eyes flickered, and he immediately said:
"Here's the deal. I can help you change your appearance to look like a normal person without removing your X-gene, so you'll still retain your mutant abilities.
However, this will be quite draining for me, and I need you to agree to one condition."
"What condition?"
Before Hank and Raven could speak, Charles was the first to ask.
Jerry slowly replied:
"It's quite simple. The Cia is about to have Hank research a brainwave amplifier to enhance your telepathic abilities, and then use your powers to search for potential mutants.
I need you to help me focus on finding a mutant named Jean Grey in one year."
"Brainwave amplifier? The director hasn't informed me about researching such a device!"
Hank was puzzled.
Jerry waved his hand.
"He will notify you in a few days."
For someone like Jerry, who could create life, altering some physical traits while retaining X-gene abilities was not a difficult task.
So he decided to be straightforward and achieve his goal through a trade, saving Charles and the others from constantly suspecting him.
