Chapter 777: Jerry's Multiple Abilities (Second Update)
Chapter 777: Jerry's Multiple Abilities (Second Update)
Two days later, in the Cia’s Technology Building, the experiment room.
"Hank, do you want to remove the X-gene from your body and become a regular human?"
Jerry looked at the latest version of the Gene Serum Hank handed over. The analytical magic array in his pupils shifted slightly, quickly analyzing all the components of the serum.
Hank clenched his teeth and nodded.
"Not all mutants are like you and Charles, who don’t need to hide. For someone like me and Raven, we are essentially no different from monsters. I don’t need superpowers; I just want to live like a normal person. In this serum, I added the Transformation gene extracted from Raven’s blood, combined with my previous research. I think it might help mutants return to normal."
After talking to Raven last night, he learned that she shared the same concerns. With her consent, he drew her blood for research.
This was the initial version, with many flaws, and he wanted Jerry to give him some advice and guidance.
Jerry took the Gene Serum from Hank, but shook his head and handed it back.
"Your Gene Serum won’t remove the X-gene. Instead, it will cause the X-gene to mutate."
Over the next few minutes, Jerry explained the biological principles behind Hank’s Gene Serum, pointed out the errors, and described the potential mutations that could occur after injection.
Mutants originated from experiments conducted by the Celestials using Earth humans as templates. Their existence is more technologically advanced than the Inhumans created by the Kree. The current era’s technology and knowledge cannot remove the X-gene.
Raven’s X-gene primarily involves Transformation, allowing her to change into any normal human. However, she remains a mutant at her core. When not using her abilities, she has blue skin.
Hank’s idea of using the Transformation gene to turn mutants into regular humans is fundamentally impossible.
"So, Raven’s gene can’t help me become normal."
Upon hearing Jerry’s explanation, Hank’s face fell, and he slumped into a chair nearby. He thought his years of research were finally about to bear fruit, but now he realized he had been on the wrong path.
"If you really want to become normal, I can help you."
Seeing Hank’s dejected state, Jerry smiled and said.
He wasn’t helping out of sympathy but to ensure Hank focused all his energy on developing the Cerebro for Professor X, rather than the Gene Serum.
However, he definitely wouldn’t help Hank improve the Gene Serum, even though he could.
If he helped Hank develop a serum that could turn mutants into regular humans, it would inevitably fall into the hands of the Cia. In the future, such a serum might not be used to help mutants like Hank who want to be normal. Instead, it could be weaponized against all mutants.
If the Gene Serum affected the timeline and prevented Jean from being born in this universe, it would all be for nothing.
"What, do you know how to improve this Gene Serum, Jerry?"
When Hank heard that Jerry could help, his first thought was that Jerry had already figured out how to fix the flaws in the Gene Serum. He immediately got excited and stood up.
However, Jerry simply threw the Gene Serum into the nearby trash bin:
"No, it's one of my abilities that can help you return to normal."
"Isn't your ability the same as Professor Charles, which is telepathy?"
Hank asked, surprised.
When the mutant team was formed, the Cia had cataloged all the mutants' abilities. Jerry's ability was listed as telepathy.
"Who says you can only have one ability? Charles can do mind control in addition to telepathy, and the White Queen can transform into a diamond form as well as use telepathy."
Jerry shrugged.
Hank was taken aback for a moment, then nodded. It was true; while most mutants had only one ability, there were those with two or three.
In fact, what Hank didn't know was that Jerry's magic was itself an ability, and it wasn't just two or three.
"If it's possible, can I bring Raven along? She also wants to return to a normal human form."
From the first time Hank saw Raven, he had secretly liked her. Plus, Raven shared the same concerns and desires, which made him feel closer to her.
"Of course."
Jerry nodded indifferently.
For him, whether it was one, two, or even a hundred, it was just a matter of a wave of his hand. Besides, turning Mystique into a normal human would be good; it would at least prevent the possibility of "Sentinel" robots in the future.
However, it was a bit of a pity. After all, he thought Mystique's ability was something any woman would dream of—being able to transform into anyone and having an extremely long lifespan.
But everyone has their own perspective, shaped by their upbringing, personality, and various other factors, which influence their final thoughts and decisions.
For example, Charles was born into a wealthy British aristocratic family and had always lived a comfortable life, so he was more inclined to believe in the peaceful coexistence of mutants and humans.
Erik, on the other hand, had been persecuted since childhood and had witnessed his mother being shot dead right in front of him. Later, he was cruelly trained to become a killer.
So, in his eyes, humans and mutants could never coexist peacefully. Eventually, it would come down to a fight to the death. Only by eliminating all humans could mutants live freely and happily.
Jerry thought Mystique's ability was great, but she felt insecure about her true appearance. So, he respected her choice.
As long as it didn't affect his own interests, Jerry considered himself fairly open-minded.
He always believed that as long as someone wasn't breaking the law or doing something against public morals, they should be free to make their own choices.
Because, in life, every choice a person makes will be regretted in the future.
It's like a city; those inside yearn for the outside, and those outside yearn for the inside. No matter which path you choose, you'll regret not choosing the other, but as long as it's your choice, it's the best choice.
So, for Aisha, Has, and Hermione, Jerry never tried to interfere with their lives based on what he thought was best. Instead, he let them live in the way they found most suitable.
"I'll go now."
With the confirmation, Hank immediately ran out of the lab to find Raven.
