Chapter 776: Cerebro (First Update)
Chapter 776: Cerebro (First Update)
"From now on, you'll all be working here."
The next day, at the Cia's Technology Department headquarters, Jerry and Charles, along with a few others, were officially appointed as special agents under the guidance of the department head.
After a brief tour of the facility, everyone was drawn to an advanced-looking aircraft in the center of the base.
At that moment, a young man in a white lab coat, who was inspecting the aircraft, noticed their interest and introduced it:
"This is the supersonic plane I developed, currently the fastest aircraft in existence."
The head of the Technology Department immediately introduced the young man to the group.
The head had clearly informed the young man about Charles and the others being mutants. In turn, the group learned about the young man's identity from the introduction.
The young man's name was Hank Mccoy, the youngest and most talented researcher in the Technology Department. He was now assigned to work alongside them.
"Beast."
The moment Jerry saw Hank, he recognized him as the future X-Men's core technology specialist, known as "Beast", and the inventor of the Cerebro.
In Jerry's eyes, the most important people at the moment were Charles and Hank.
Charles could use his unique ability to sense mutants, and he immediately confirmed Hank's mutant status upon seeing him.
Hank, on the other hand, was the smartest scientist among the mutants. Most of the X-Men's equipment was developed by him, and the research and subsequent upgrades of the Cerebro were also his responsibility.
As for the others, including Magneto, they were expendable to Jerry.
Of course, since Jean had not yet been born, Jerry was not in a rush to force Charles and Hank to cooperate and search for mutants with the X-gene.
That didn't align with his style.
For now, he would blend in, focusing most of his energy on the assimilation of Earths and the creation of new planets and life forms in the Ring Universe.
He had considered using the laws of time to fast-forward to next year, as the time laws in this universe were different from those in the main universe.
In the main universe, time was irreversible. Even with a time machine, one wouldn't actually return to the past but rather create a new timeline.
When Thanos used the Infinity Gauntlet to erase half of the universe's life, the Avengers couldn't use a time machine to prevent it. Instead, they had to enter different timelines to collect the stones and snap their fingers again to bring back the vanished individuals. They also had to return the stones to their original timelines to prevent the creation of damaged timelines.
So, even he, whenever he left, would anchor a specific time point rather than use the laws of time to reverse it upon return.
However, the fundamental time laws in this universe were clearly different. Time in this universe was reversible, and any reversal would alter the entire future of the universe.
If he recalled correctly, a scientist named Bolivar Trask would, ten years from now, capture a large number of mutants for experimentation. He would achieve a crucial breakthrough using Mystique's genetic material.
This would lead to the invention of the Sentinel, a new type of combat robot capable of detecting and simulating mutant Dna.
Sixty years later, mutants would be hunted down in large numbers by the fully developed Sentinels, struggling to survive and nearly facing total extinction.
Unfortunately, Professor X and Magneto used Kitty Pryde's ability to send Wolverine Logan, who possesses a self-healing gene, back to 1973 to alter history and prevent the development and production of the Sentinels.
As a result, everything in the old universe will be erased, and a new universe will begin from 1973.
Theoretically, if Jerry wanted to, he could use his time laws to adjust the timeline of this universe, whether it be traveling to the past or the future.
However, after careful consideration, he decided it would be best not to do so.
This is not one of those Mini Worlds; it is the Marvel Universe, where beings more powerful than him are abundant. Time is a sensitive matter, and if he were to draw the attention of Eternity, it would not be worth it.
Stealing the Phoenix Force was already a risky move.
If it weren't for the Ancient One's help last time, he might have already fled this world.
The key is that risking the use of time laws for less than a year is not worth it. One year is nothing; he can wait.
At his current level of power, since he has already caught the attention of Eternity, if he doesn't want to follow the path of a dark anti-hero like Thanos and avoid being hunted, he needs to be more mindful of his actions.
At the very least, he should try to appear more lawful and good.
After a brief introduction, Hank admitted to being a mutant and, encouraged by Mystique, demonstrated his abilities.
In addition to his super-intelligent brain, Hank also has a pair of large, beast-like feet and a much stronger body than a normal human.
"Let me show you to your rooms to rest!"
After demonstrating his abilities, Hank put his shoes back on and led the group to the mutant agents' dormitory, which had been prepared in advance.
On the way, Jerry initiated a conversation with Hank about biology.
Although he is not an expert in physics, he is absolutely at the top in the field of biology.
Without delving into the magical aspects of creating life, he had learned a great deal of biological knowledge to develop the previous Witch Enhancer. He later exchanged knowledge with top biologists like Banner from the main universe and even studied the biology of other planets.
He had also taken the time to research the body of the Water Sprite, created by the Celestials, and gained a lot from it.
So, in just a few minutes, Hank was thoroughly impressed by Jerry's insights into biology, especially since Hank was working on a Gene Serum to help him become a normal human.
"Mr. Carmen, I didn't expect you to have such a deep understanding of biology. I'm currently working on a Gene Serum. I was wondering if you could spare some time to guide me."
At the entrance to the mutant dormitory, Hank sincerely asked Jerry.
Jerry smiled and nodded.
"Please call me Jerry. I wouldn't say I'm guiding you; we can learn from each other."
He knew what Hank was working on with the Gene Serum, but that wasn't important. Building a good relationship with Hank would help him quickly develop the Cerebro.
A year from now, he would upgrade the Cerebro to be able to locate any mutant on Earth, so he could find Jean the moment she was born.
