Chapter 775: The Black King's Plot (Second Update)
Chapter 775: The Black King's Plot (Second Update)
"Colonel Henry previously rejected the proposal to deploy Jupiter Missiles in Turkey, citing the potential threat to Russia and the risk of war.
However, after being taken away by those people yesterday, his attitude completely changed during the subsequent combat meeting, and he strongly pushed for the deployment of missiles in Turkey.
This must have something to do with the Black King."
When Jerry mentioned the intelligence about the Black King, Mora immediately understood why Colonel Henry’s stance had suddenly shifted.
"I think we need to talk to your superior. Only by making them believe in the existence of mutants can we convince them of the Black King's plot."
Charles thought for a moment and said.
Currently, the number of mutants is small, and most of them, upon discovering their abilities, tend to hide out of fear.
So, in reality, apart from a few individuals who are particularly attentive, many countries' high-ranking officials are unaware of the existence of mutants.
To prevent the Black King's plot and stop two countries from launching a nuclear war, the most important thing is to make the higher-ups believe in the existence of mutants. Only by believing in mutants can they understand how dangerous the Black King's plan is.
Jerry, however, was not in agreement. In his view, the longer mutants remain hidden from the public, the safer they will be.
Given the nature of human leaders, once they learn about the existence of mutants, who could potentially threaten their safety and interests, they would likely think of eliminating or dissecting and studying them, regardless of whether they are good or bad.
However, he did not voice his objections. Instead, he nodded and smiled, joining the three of them as they drove to the airport and then flew to Washington.
His purpose in coming to this universe was not to improve the lives of mutants or to foster harmony between humans and mutants. He was here for Jean Grey's Phoenix Force.
If he had to worry about all these messy issues in every universe, it would never end.
He wanted Professor X to witness the hostility of human leaders towards mutants and ultimately join Magneto in establishing the school for gifted youngsters.
Then, he would continuously use the telepathic amplifier to find new mutants until he found Jean Grey next year. That was his desired outcome.
"I won't be joining you for the meeting with the superior. You can find me back at the hotel when you're done. I'll go for a walk."
The next day, at the hotel entrance in Washington, Jerry waved to Charles and the others and walked straight into the bustling city.
He had no interest in negotiating with the Cia director. Instead, he preferred to explore the capital of this era, and he already knew the outcome.
Seeing Jerry walk away, Charles and the others felt somewhat helpless.
They naturally hoped Jerry would join them to meet the Cia director, as all the intelligence about the Black King came from him.
However, Jerry had already made it clear that he had no interest in the Black King or the Cia. He provided the intelligence solely because he did not want a nuclear war to break out and many innocent people to die.
So, they could not force him to do anything. He could do as he pleased.
Moreover, they couldn't force him. Jerry’s occasional displays of telepathic ability were stronger than Charles’s. Charles could not read Jerry’s thoughts, but Jerry could easily read Charles’s.
That night, when Jerry returned to the hotel after a day of wandering, Charles and the others were also back. They had brought along the head of the Cia’s technology division and another mutant, Erik Lensherr, who had the ability to manipulate magnetic fields.
After meeting Jerry, they briefly recounted the events of the day.
The meeting with the Cia Director did not go smoothly. Initially, when Charles demonstrated his abilities, the Director refused to believe it, suspecting him of being a spy. It was only when Raven transformed into the Director's appearance that the existence of mutants was acknowledged.
However, after confirming the existence of mutants, the Director did not immediately dispatch agents to help them find the mastermind Shaw. Instead, he ordered his subordinates to detain all the mutants with special abilities.
But after Charles persuaded them, the Head of the Technology Division and the agents, including Mora, defied the Director's orders and joined them in the pursuit of the Black King and his group of mutants.
They met at the docks. In the first encounter, the elite agents of the Cia were mostly wiped out by Tidal's tornadoes. If Charles hadn't used his telepathic ability in time, the remaining agents would have been controlled by the White Queen.
Fortunately, during the battle, they encountered Magneto, Erik, who was seeking revenge for the murder of his mother by the Black King.
Erik used his magnetic manipulation to destroy the Black King's yacht, forcing them to escape in a nuclear submarine. However, Erik himself nearly drowned after falling into the water.
In the end, Charles saved Erik from drowning. The Cia Director, having witnessed the power of mutants, agreed to form a mutant special team within the Cia to deal with the Black King and his group.
"So, I'm now an agent of the Cia."
After hearing Charles's account, Jerry nodded without any visible emotion.
This identity meant nothing to him; it was neither important nor exciting.
"Not quite yet. Once the procedures are completed tonight, I'll take you to the base tomorrow, and you'll officially be part of the Cia's mutant special team.
I've always believed that people with superpowers exist, even though it's been a laughing matter to most. But I've never changed my mind about it."
The portly Head of the Technology Division replied with some excitement.
"You remind me of someone I know."
Looking at the excited Head of the Technology Division, Jerry smiled, then introduced himself to the newly arrived Erik before returning to his room.
The person he was referring to was none other than the current S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, Coulson.
Like the Head of the Technology Division, Coulson had always been fascinated by superheroes and people with special abilities since childhood.
It was this admiration for superheroes that led him to join S.H.I.E.L.D., where he encountered various extraordinary events.
Similarly, the Head of the Technology Division joined the Cia due to his fascination with superpowered humans and eventually rose to the position of Head of the Technology Division.
There are many government officials and scientists who conduct cruel experiments to gain special abilities and study superpowered beings and mutants. However, there are also people like Coulson and this Head of the Technology Division who simply admire their existence.
Sometimes, it's hard to distinguish between good and evil in humans.
