Chapter 774: A Younger Version of Professor X (First Update)
Chapter 774: A Younger Version of Professor X (First Update)
"Charles! Charles! Charles!"
In the noisy bar, a group of young men and women were gathered around a central table, waving their hands and cheering loudly.
Standing on that table was a man who looked to be in his early thirties, handsome and well-dressed.
He was holding a long glass filled with alcohol, pouring it into his mouth, trying to finish it in one breath, a feat that was clearly not something just anyone could manage.
"Such a young Professor X, and this scene—could it be?"
Jerry, who had just entered the bar, used the name location method to immediately identify the man standing on the table and drinking as Professor X, Charles Xavier, albeit a younger version.
Along with this scene, he quickly recalled some information from his memory and deduced which universe he was in.
X-Men: First Class, it must be 1962, a time when mutants had not yet entered the public eye, and the X-Men and Magneto were not yet acquainted.
"It looks like I'll have to wait a year in this universe!"
After confirming the time, Jerry stroked his chin and thought to himself.
If his memory served him right, Jean Grey was born in 1963, and it was now 1962. He would have to wait until next year to implement his plan and extract the Phoenix Force to enhance the ring universe.
Having figured this out, Jerry started walking toward Professor X.
Even if Jean Grey were to be born next year, due to the Phoenix Force within her, Jerry would not be able to locate her using the owl's name location method. However, Professor X could.
Jean Grey not only possessed the Phoenix Force but was also a mutant with abilities similar to Professor X's. The Phoenix Force had merely amplified her powers, causing her to lose control frequently.
Since she was a mutant, Professor X could use the device that amplified his brainwaves to find her.
Therefore, if Jerry wanted to quickly locate Jean Grey when she was born next year, he would need Professor X's help and, naturally, needed to establish a good relationship with him.
This wasn't a difficult task.
While Jerry was thinking, Professor X had already been pulled to a corner table by a beautiful woman. Jerry recognized her as Moira, an agent from the Cia.
Moira had come to Professor X because she had witnessed several people with extraordinary abilities teleporting Colonel Henry away during a mission, but her superiors did not believe her, thinking she was joking.
Her superior was in a meeting when the call came through, and the meeting was initiated by Colonel Henry himself.
So she had come to Oxford University, where she sought out the renowned professor, Charles Xavier, who specialized in the study of mutant genes, to get verification.
However, as soon as she opened her mouth, Charles used his telepathy to read her memories.
Charles had always been dedicated to helping mutants live peacefully among humans and had been searching for other mutants like himself and Mystique.
Thus, he did not hesitate to agree to Moira's request.
Just as they were about to leave the bar to discuss matters in more detail, a figure suddenly blocked their path.
"Good evening, gentlemen!"
It was Jerry, who had just walked in from the bar's entrance.
"Hello, sir. We have some important matters to attend to. If you have any questions, perhaps we can talk tomorrow."
Charles, seeing that Jerry looked young, assumed he was a student at Oxford University. He politely greeted Jerry, then called Mystique and Moira to continue heading out of the bar.
This bar was located right next to Oxford University, and most of the people who came here were professors and students from the university.
"The leader of those mutants is called the Black King. His ability is to absorb and release energy, and he can use energy to maintain his youth. The one who can turn into a diamond is called the White Queen. The one who can teleport is called the Red Devil. The one who controls whirlwinds is called Whirlwind."
Jerry didn't elaborate; he simply provided a brief explanation of the nicknames and abilities of the mutants who had kidnapped Colonel Henry, as Moira had seen.
Sure enough, upon hearing Jerry's response, Charles and the others immediately stopped in their tracks and turned to look at Jerry with a mix of surprise and astonishment.
"Professor Charles, your telepathy won't work on me."
Jerry turned his head and noticed that Charles had quietly raised his hand to his temple, starting to use his telepathic abilities. Jerry smiled slightly at the corner of his mouth.
Although Professor X is a Level 4 mutant, his power is still at the Earth-level. His mental power couldn't possibly match Jerry's solo-universe level.
"Are you a mutant with mind control abilities as well?"
Charles, realizing that his telepathic abilities had no effect on Jerry, his initial shock turned into a hint of excitement.
His telepathic abilities had never failed before, unless Jerry possessed similar powers and could resist his mind reading.
Discovering a new mutant, especially one with telepathic abilities like his own, was naturally a cause for joy.
Especially since the other party seemed to have no ill intentions.
"Well, you're not entirely wrong."
Jerry paused for a moment but didn't contradict Charles.
He did have mind control abilities, but not because of mutant genes. Instead, it was due to Magic, which allowed him to read minds and memories, such as Legilimency.
Explaining what Magic was and its principles to Charles and the others would likely be a waste of time, so he simply went along with it, as it didn't really matter.
"You seem to know a lot about those mutants. Could you tell us more in detail?"
At this point, the efficient and attractive Cia agent, Moira, spoke up.
Today, she had come to see Professor Charles with only a hopeful attitude, not expecting to succeed, let alone gain some unexpected information.
"This place is too noisy for a detailed discussion. Let's go outside first."
Charles, looking at the bustling bar, led everyone out and then to Moira's private car.
Jerry didn't hide anything and provided a brief account of what he knew about the Black King.
"Actually, I learned this information accidentally through my telepathic abilities, sensing your conversation and thinking it might be useful to you, so I stopped you.
The man known as the Black King is actually named Sebastian Shaw. He was a scientist during World War II, using the alias Klaus Schmidt. He leveraged the power of to gather and train mutant subordinates for his own service.
His ultimate goal has always been to provoke a nuclear war between major powers, using the radiation to accelerate the emergence of mutants, thereby gathering all mutants to form a Mutant Kingdom."
