Chapter 773: Migration Team
Chapter 773: Migration Team
"Mr. Lindsey, where are we now...?"
"Hold on, let me figure this out... This is the damn spatial rules."
In the vast Dust Path World, Arona and Lindsey arrive at a brand new floating island.
They are having a conversation about their upcoming journey.
After bidding farewell to Clearsky, the journey ahead is evidently filled with new dangers.
But first, the chaotic spatial rules obstruct their path.
The center of the battlefield remains stable during combat.
However, the situation is different for those seeking to reach the world's center. Chaotic spaces frequently appear, constantly disrupting their progress.
Lindsey and Arona set off on their journey once more.
After a little over a day, on the second day before dawn, they are teleported to an unknown location again due to leaving the area of spatial stability.
"..."
"Now that we can fly, many tasks have become more convenient."
"But in situations like this, where we are randomly teleported to unfamiliar places, what can flying do?"
Lindsey examines the newly acquired Freedom Seal.
He has no choice but to resort to his old method.
Using the position of the Time Sun and the lit areas on the Strategic Map, he recalculates their current location.
"The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Since the sun is rising now, the left side is east. Based on the maps we've previously opened... Yes, we just need to continue moving left."
Lindsey analyzes the map while taking steps forward.
Arona, following behind him, quickly catches up and cautiously asks Lindsey:
"Mr. Lindsey, should we wait for a suitable spatial teleportation like before and then continue our journey?"
"Things will be different from now on," Lindsey immediately shakes his head. "Previously, we could wait for the spatial stability mechanism and seize the opportunity. But this time, our goal is the world's center, so we're essentially gambling on random teleports."
"..."
"Indeed, there's no good solution at the moment."
Arona nods slightly.
The girl's quick-wittedness allows her to realize that Lindsey's judgment is correct.
Over the next few days, Lindsey and Arona shuttle back and forth between traveling and the chaos of random teleports.
On the afternoon of the fourth day, they speed up on a new floating island.
Lindsey notices numerous human markers on the map ahead, and Arona now possesses an extraordinary vision.
Even though they are still far away, she detects the presence of this human team:
"Mr. Lindsey, are there people ahead?"
"And they are heading in the same direction as us," Lindsey replies to Arona while quickening his pace. "Since they are fellow travelers, we can either engage in combat or gather information."
Lindsey and Arona step onto the floating island ahead.
With their speed, they soon catch up with the team ahead.
At first glance, this is an ordinary human migration team with a scarce number of Awakened individuals.
"Hey, wait!"
"Something is approaching from behind."
"Two humans, one male and one female, not those Subhumans, nor the rumored insane Righteous Maiden."
These whispered discussions are carried by the breeze into Lindsey's ears.
A kind smile appears on his face, and he enthusiastically approaches the team members to strike up a conversation:
"Wait, everyone!"
"My companion and I have been separated by spatial teleportation, so I have some questions for you.
"..."
Soon enough, Lindsey learned of this news from the mouths of ordinary people.
He chose to part ways with them.
Before bidding farewell to Clearsky, Lindsey received a message.
The revival of the Serpent Demon caused a certain variable, leading powerful Awakened individuals to gather at the World Center to fight for a crucial interest.
As an Eighth Stage being who cultivated in the Dust Path World and a new friend of Lindsey, Clearsky's information was trustworthy.
However, from the perspective of ordinary people, the current situation seemed subtle.
The origin of the rumors was unknown.
The intensification of battles among High-Order Monsters and the shifting of battle locations led people to believe that the final showdown was approaching.
If one didn't seize the last opportunity and find a glimmer of hope near the battlefield where Powerhouses clashed, staying in the Outer Ring would mean facing the fate of falling into the Endless Void after the Spatial Fragmentation, resulting in death.
This was why people began their long journey.
The prolonged adventure had already made Lindsey vigilant about such matters.
So, after parting ways with the occasional human teams, Lindsey set up camp that evening to rest. While preparing and grilling meat, he asked Arona:
"Arona, do you think this news is a misunderstanding or speculation that arose spontaneously among people, or is someone secretly guiding them, intentionally causing such a reaction?"
Arona, waiting for dinner, began to analyze seriously:
"For ordinary people—this reaction speed is indeed too fast, and the spread is too wide."
"But to say it's a conspiracy—the appearance of the Feathered Serpent was very sudden. It's unlikely that it had the opportunity to prepare such a grand operation."
Arona's statement was entirely based on their experience.
After all, the person who released the Feathered Serpent was currently sitting right beside her, calmly starting a fire and grilling meat—Lindsey.
Lindsey's pupils reflected the color of the bonfire.
He prepared Arona's food and passed it to her before sharing his thoughts:
"According to Clearsky, that guy is a Demon Deity."
"The world's end, the final salvation, if there's no foul play involved with these things, I find it hard to believe."
Arona was taken aback.
From the perspective of a Follower, she began to think:
"Do you mean that followers of the Demon Deity have already appeared?"
"How is it possible to cultivate such followers in just a few days..."
Lindsey suddenly proposed a possibility:
"What if the original followers had their faith converted?"
Arona almost instinctively replied:
"Impossible! Our faith in the Righteous One is unwavering, and we always believe..."
The Blind Girl initially thought that Lindsey was questioning her faith.
But soon, she realized the meaning behind his words and her voice trailed off as she remembered something she had overlooked."
During their initial encounter, Lindsey had asked Arona about other followers.
In the current Floating Island, there were not only followers of the Righteous One like them but also a group of people who believed in the 'Sole God' and appeared to be up to no good!
"If their faith had shifted..."
Arona's heart was filled with a terrifying premonition.
The perfectly grilled meat, which she usually loved, now remained untouched at the edge of her mouth:
"But how is that possible?"
"Would an existence that forms a bond with its followers willingly give them up?"
"I don't understand..."
