Chapter 772: Vishanti's Tome (First Update)
Chapter 772: Vishanti's Tome (First Update)
Seeing Jerry launch his first proactive attack, Thanos, though suspecting that his opponent might be a mere illusion to buy time, did not dare to take the matter lightly. He quickly raised his left hand and unleashed the power of the Infinity Stones to block the attack.
However, an unbelievable event unfolded as the blue beam of light completely ignored the defensive power of the Infinity Stones and continued straight toward Thanos' face.
Could this attack also be a fake?
This was the only answer Thanos could think of.
But, in reality, his guess was far off the mark.
The moment the powerful blue beam struck his nearly invincible body, Thanos instinctively released his grip.
Then, the glove embedded with the five Infinity Stones on his left hand and the Tyrant Blades in his right hand flew out, landing in the hands of the person standing opposite him.
"Alright, the rest is up to you guys!"
Jerry, holding the Infinity Gauntlet in his left hand and the Tyrant Blades in his right, turned to smile at Stephen, Professor X, and the other heroes who were now standing up and approaching.
Without the Infinity Gauntlet and the Tyrant Blades, Thanos was just a tank, and against Earth's diverse superheroes, he could only endure a barrage of attacks passively.
Professor X was stunned for a moment before reacting and immediately joined the other heroes in surrounding and attacking Thanos.
The events that unfolded after Jerry's appearance were simply too unexpected for them to process.
Who could have imagined that an unknown superhero could single-handedly challenge the terrifying Thanos, or rather, completely overwhelm him and effortlessly disarm him of his most powerful weapons, the Infinity Gauntlet and the Tyrant Blades?
"Wow, that's brutal!"
A moment later, watching Thanos being pummeled by the group, Jerry couldn't help but exclaim.
Even unarmed, with Thanos' strength and defenses, no single superhero on the field could likely stand a chance against him.
However, when it came to a group attack, the scenario was entirely different.
Professor X's mind control prevented Thanos from focusing, and Black Bolt's sonic attacks repeatedly caused him to spew blood. Mr. Fantastic's elastic restraints, Captain Carter and Captain Marvel's close-quarters combat, Doctor Strange's long-range magical attacks, and various supportive spells left Thanos in a constant state of defense, with his injuries worsening with each blow. He could only rely on his formidable body to endure the onslaught.
The scene resembled a perfectly coordinated gaming team taking down a boss. Although the boss was powerful, death was only a matter of time.
While the superheroes pummeled Thanos, Jerry stood to the side and discreetly opened his Panel.
"Fifty billion? A bit less than I expected, but it doesn't matter."
By stopping Stephen from opening the Dark God's Book, he had prevented another parallel universe from being destroyed by Xithon. Now, by stopping Thanos, he had saved half the life in this universe.
Given these actions, the red stars awarded by the Panel should have been substantial. Fifty billion was not a small number, but it fell short of his expectations.
However, he did not dwell on it too much. The primary use of red stars was as backup energy and for the first activation of a new world. With the Ring Universe, he did not lack the energy for regular use, and the activation of new worlds did not require much. Once he had the coordinates for a new world, he would need even less.
Currently, his dependence on the Panel has been reduced to a minimum.
"Sir, I truly appreciate your help!"
An hour later, the thick-blooded Thanos finally fell to the overwhelming assault. Without Thanos, their spiritual leader, his cosmic army instantly turned into a disorganized mob, with most of them fleeing in all directions.
Led by Stephen, Professor X approached Jerry and expressed his sincerest gratitude.
If Jerry hadn't appeared and taken Thanos's Infinity Gauntlet, the outcome of today's final battle would have been uncertain.
"Don't mention it. I just did a favor, and it didn't take much effort."
Jerry waved his hand, preparing to ask Professor X about Jean Grey's whereabouts. Suddenly, a Spatial Door opened beside him, and Wong, holding a book, burst out excitedly.
"I found Vishanti's Tome!"
"Is it really Vishanti's Tome? Can I borrow it to take a look?"
Jerry looked at the book in Wong's hands, his face lighting up with interest.
Vishanti is a combination of three ancient gods of the Multiverse, known as the guardians of the Multiverse. Their combined power is on par with the top-tier multiverse-level entity, Xithon.
Vishanti's Tome is similar to the Dark God's Book, both offering knowledge of the reader's choice. However, unlike Xithon, Vishanti does not mentally control the reader to perform evil deeds, making it much safer.
However, Vishanti's Tome is extremely rare, with only one copy existing. Unlike the Dark God's Book, which Xithon has replicated across almost every universe, sometimes with more than one copy per universe.
Jerry wasn't particularly interested in the laws of the universe or Vishanti's magic, as his own abilities were already quite strong. He simply wanted to borrow Vishanti's Tome to see if he could learn some advanced multiverse knowledge.
Although he was still far from the multiverse level, it was better to start learning early rather than scrambling at the last moment.
Wong was taken aback for a moment. He didn't recognize Jerry and turned to look at Stephen.
Stephen and Professor X exchanged glances and quickly came to an agreement through Professor X's telepathic abilities. Stephen then said to Wong:
"Give it to him!"
Their original purpose in sending Wong to the cosmic rift to find Vishanti's Tome was to discover a way to defeat Thanos. But they hadn't really expected to find it.
Now that Thanos was dead and the war was won, Vishanti's Tome had lost much of its usefulness. Lending it to Jerry, who had been a great help in killing Thanos, would be a way to repay his favor.
Of course, the main reason was that Jerry was too mysterious and powerful for them to refuse. If it were someone else, they might have hesitated.
Although Wong wasn't entirely clear on the current situation, he trusted Stephen. Since Stephen agreed, he had no objections and handed Vishanti's Tome to Jerry.
Jerry retracted the Tyrant Blades on his right hand into the Ring Universe, then took Vishanti's Tome and placed the Infinity Gauntlet in Wong's hand:
"Consider this a small token of appreciation for borrowing the book."
"T-this is the Infinity Gauntlet!"
Wong looked at the glove with five Infinity Stones embedded in it, his hand trembling, nearly dropping it.
Stephen and Professor X exchanged another glance, secretly relieved.
Anyone who didn't covet a treasure like the Infinity Gauntlet was unlikely to pose a threat to them or Earth.
