Chapter 771: This Treasure Is Destined for Me!
Chapter 771: This Treasure Is Destined for Me!
Not far ahead, Klah sniffed the air and turned to Kuro, saying, "Sir Kuro, I smell blood... a lot of it."
"I can see that already."
Kuro stared at the dried, jet-black bloodstains on the ground, splattered in trails leading forward. Beside the bloodstains were residual traces of an explosion—clear signs of combat. He crouched down and picked up a rectangular, rock-like object. The charred edges carried a faint gunpowder scent. Frowning slightly, he muttered, "This thing still smells of explosives."
Such objects littered the ground. Occasionally, Kuro spotted torn scraps of clothing near them.
This was clearly the site of a major battle.
Klah’s nose twitched again as he glanced ahead. "Sir Kuro..."
"Hmm."
Kuro pressed forward. Soon, on a flat expanse ahead, he found the owners of the torn clothes—uniformed men sprawled across the ground, their bodies riddled with explosive wounds, utterly lifeless.
They were soldiers from Kolf’s Kingdom Army.
Beyond them lay a village of stone huts, most of which were scorched black, as if ravaged by fire. Kuro could sense human auras there—chaotic, wild.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As the navy neared the village, deafening roars erupted from within. Unidentified objects shot out like cannonballs, hurtling toward them.
"I’ll handle this!"
Sazil lunged forward with a thunderous stomp, leapt upward, and drew back his fist. With a roar, he punched the incoming projectiles mid-air.
"Impact Tide!!"
Whoosh!!
A shockwave erupted from his fist, deflecting the objects in all directions, scattering them onto the ground.
"Heh, I’m awesome!"
Sazil landed, puffing out his chest proudly. After so long since gaining his ability, he finally felt useful instead of being the one taking hits!
Boom!!
Upon impact, the deflected objects detonated, carving craters into the rocky ground and sending rubble flying. A few shards zipped past the navy, slicing one soldier’s cheek, leaving a fresh wound.
If the shockwave from this distance was this fierce, how powerful was the explosion itself?
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As the first explosions faded, the village roared again, launching more projectiles.
This time, Kuro raised his hand and gently clenched his fist.
The airborne objects froze mid-flight, motionless. One drifted toward Kuro, stopping before him.
It was an irregular, rock-like object. Under the sunlight, its jagged edges glimmered crimson, with faint green specks flickering on its surface. Kuro could sense the energy simmering within.
He flicked his finger. The rock zipped backward at blinding speed, slamming into the ground.
Boom!!
The explosion unleashed a dust-laden mist. As it cleared, a gaping crater revealed itself.
"This is a Bomb Rock", Lucci explained beside him. "It generates explosive force on contact. Its power rivals cannonballs—stronger even, depending on the impact. The harder it hits, the more devastating the blast."
Kuro smirked, raising an eyebrow. "What a gem!"
Indeed, though slightly weaker than the navy’s Dynamite Rocks, this was a priceless asset. The crude, unrefined stones—clearly mined and used directly—were cheap and easy to produce. And with their impact-reactive properties...
Kuro flicked his fingers again. One of the frozen Bomb Rocks rocketed upward, vanishing into the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The village launched another barrage.
Kuro’s finger moved once more, a single downward press from above.
Whoosh!!
From the heavens, a crimson-tailed meteor streaked down at breakneck speed, colliding head-on with the incoming projectiles. The impact point—mere meters from the village—was chosen with surgical precision.
Boom!!!
The sky itself seemed to shudder. The Bomb Rock’s detonation erupted into a fireball, its shockwave howling like a tornado, hurling debris and rubble in all directions. The stone huts, already battered, were shredded in an instant, their massive stones flung backward like paper.
Kuro heard distant screams, muffled but unmistakable. Even from afar, the explosion’s force made his cloak snap violently in the wind.
At the impact site, a crater the size of a small meteorite gaped open.
"This power..." Sazil muttered, his scalp tingling.
This was on a whole other level compared to the earlier explosions!
"Old Man, with a single calculation... this treasure is destined for me!" Kuro declared solemnly, his eyes gleaming.
His theory was confirmed—the explosive force scaled with impact velocity. Even an ordinary rock dropped from the sky carried immense power.
And this was nowhere near the altitude of Kuro’s treasury. If a Bomb Rock were dropped from that height—half the island could vanish in an instant.
Such a resource was wasted as mere cannon fodder.
The explosion had driven the villagers out. Over a hundred figures poured out, each clutching a rectangular tube. They glared with the ferocity of beasts.
"Navy?! How did they find this island? It’s outside their jurisdiction!" one shouted.
"So what? We crushed the Kingdom Army, and we’ll do the same to the Navy! Whoever comes, we fear none! We’ll tear this nation apart, and with Bomb Rocks, carve our place in the Grand Line!"
"Charge! Destroy them!"
The chaotic battle cries rang out. Kuro narrowed his eyes.
"Pirates, huh? Recognize any of them?"
Klah studied the crowd, but Lucci spoke first, "A few have bounties. That one with the red headband—Blood Towel Gavas, 30 million Beri."
After all, the Cipher Pol’s agents excelled in memory and intelligence.
Especially Lucci, the strongest CP9 agent in eight centuries—even in CP0, his skills remained unmatched.
