Chapter 77: Total Annihilation
Chapter 77: Total Annihilation
Even the leading Jonin officer was taken aback, a rare occurrence.
"Could it be that at such speed, not even a slight change in direction is possible? Having incredible speed isn't always advantageous; it can also be a weakness..."
The thought flashed through his mind.
But,
Just as his thoughts turned, an anomaly occurred!
The blood trail left by the human form in the air, enveloped by the wind blades due to excessive speed, suddenly flew towards the direction of the silver light.
Not a single drop of blood fell to the ground!
All the blood that had gushed out from the cuts of the wind blades flew back into the silver light, and that silver light, without the slightest hesitation, traced a perfect arc, rushing towards the nearest group of people.
Like a flash of silver lightning!
Shh! Shh! Shh!
In an instant, more than a dozen Sand Ninjas stiffened in their tracks, their bodies splitting and exploding into countless blood droplets.
"Impossible!!'
"What's going on?!"
The nearby Sand Ninjas were all stunned, and in their panic, they couldn't react in time. Someone holding a kunai knife tried to resist Fengye, but they couldn't even see his trajectory.
The commanding Jonin's face underwent rapid changes, and he exclaimed in shock. This scene was something he had never expected. He couldn't believe that someone who had been sliced by the wind blades could still recover!
The opponent wasn't unable to change direction due to excessive speed!
"Quick!"
"Fourth Squad, Fifth Squad! Block his path!"
"Second Squad, provide support!"
His face twisted in shock as he shouted orders, drawing a katana and directing it towards the silver light that weaved through the battlefield, attempting to provide assistance.
Under his command, some of the stunned Sand Ninjas managed to regroup and once again unleashed large-scale Wind Style jutsu, aiming to block Fengye's path.
Yet, Fengye still didn't evade.
Once again, he charged head-on into the wind blades, ignoring all damage. The Kusanagi sword in his hand, enveloped in lightning, slashed through the air, reducing over ten Sand Ninjas to corpses.
"Don't panic!"
"Barrier! Barrier!!!"
As he witnessed the Sand Ninja team fall into complete disarray, the commanding Jonin's face turned ugly as he bellowed continuously.
Immediately, some Sand Ninjas attempted to use barriers to restrict Fengye's movements.
However, Fengye, having experienced the barriers before, was prepared. He easily avoided the range of the barriers. Although the barriers couldn't affect him, at most, they could only trap him momentarily, but he wanted to inflict damage, not get trapped.
Shush! Shush!!!
The attempt to block with barriers failed again, and over a dozen more ninjas fell to Fengye's Kusanagi sword.
This time, the Sand Ninjas were utterly thrown into chaos.
Countless Sand Ninjas wore expressions of shock and fear.
They were all elites from the Sand Ninja Village, unafraid of battle, even when facing enemies several times their number. But facing Fengye, an enemy they couldn't even see, let alone understand how he killed them, fear began to spread within their hearts!
It was instant death, again and again!
From the moment Fengye charged into the crowd, over half of their number had perished. None of the elite Jonin could withstand even half a round against Fengye!
It was always the same—a flash of silver light, and their bodies would be ripped and severed, without any chance to resist. This kind of battle was hopeless!
"Damn it..."
"We can't contain him..."
The commanding Jonin clenched his teeth as he watched this unfold, his eyes flicking between anger and panic. He knew that this operation had failed miserably.
The order to fall back was an arduous decision, especially since the village had high hopes for this mission, expecting it to be the key to turning the tide of war.
The difficulty in giving this order, coupled with Fengye's relentless slaughter, resulted in a brief few seconds where nearly ten more ninjas perished.
"They're finally retreating..."
Fengye narrowed his eyes, watching as the numerous Sand Ninjas received the order to fall back.
Due to the previous incident of breaking through the net of wind blades, his clothes were in tatters, shredded to pieces. Although the silver light and his speed should have obscured his state from view, he still didn't want to let anyone escape.
The slaughter thus far was merely a prelude; the true test of his abilities would come as the Sand Ninjas scattered in all directions. Even with his speed, wiping them all out would be a challenge.
However, ninja instinct kicked in.
The disoriented and confused Sand Ninjas, instead of immediately choosing the best retreat strategy, initially moved as a large group in one direction.
This was the scenario Fengye had been waiting for.
Without hesitation, he continued to charge into the crowd, his sword a blur as it rose and fell. In the span of nearly ten seconds, over a dozen more Sand Ninjas fell to his Kusanagi sword.
"Split up!"
"Don't retreat in the same direction!"
It was only then that the Sand Ninjas fully grasped the situation and began to scatter in different directions.
But by this point, over eighty ninjas had already perished, leaving fewer than twenty still standing. This sharp reduction in numbers made it significantly easier for Fengye to pursue and eliminate them.
Shh! Shh!!
Bathed in silver light, Fengye maintained his four-times-the-speed-of-Minato state, and whether facing Chunin or Jonin, none could withstand a single exchange with him.
After a circular sweep of continuous kills, taking down over a dozen more ninjas, the remaining four or five Sand Ninjas had fled to a distance of several hundred meters. But even this distance couldn't shake Fengye off their trail! The terrain was just too open!
Aside from the rock where the Sand Ninjas had initially taken shelter from the rain, there were no other complex geographical features nearby. It was a vast, open expanse.
If this were a dense forest, the Sand Ninjas, given Fengye's lack of proficient sensory skills, might have been able to escape by putting several hundred meters between them. But in this open terrain, it was impossible!
They would need to put at least a few kilometers between them before they could even attempt to use basic concealment ninjutsu to obscure their presence and flee in another direction.
Shush! Shush!!
The silver light weaved through the falling rain.
The number of Sand Ninjas continued to dwindle.
Five...
Four...
Three...
Finally...
Approximately two kilometers from the initial battle site, Fengye caught up with the last remaining Sand Ninja and mercilessly pierced his chest with the Kusanagi sword.
"You... monster..."
Fear shone in the Sand Ninja's eyes as he gazed at Fengye, and with a trembling voice, he uttered a single word before his consciousness faded away.
Fengye withdrew his sword and shook his head as he watched the body fall to the rain-soaked ground.
"A monster?"
"No."
"I'm just a human who's trying my best to survive until the end."
After saying this, Fengye turned to glance back at the battlefield. Even from a distance of a kilometer, he could still make out the ground soaked in blood.
Bodies lay strewn about.
Blood flowed like rivers.
It was a scene straight out of the Buddhist hells.
