Chapter 77: Six-Tail: Is That It?
Chapter 77: Six-Tail: Is That It?
“Keh—Jeh—”
Haunter stuck out its tongue and plastered itself against the helicopter window, turning into a giant pancake face.
It almost covered the entire window.
Little Six-Tail could only peek through the gaps left by Haunter, gazing at the vast, green mountains stretching endlessly. This was the first time it saw the world from such a perspective.
Jing He felt relieved that Haunter didn’t float out of the helicopter. It would be a disaster if it got blown away like the last time they were on a bus.
Soon, the helicopter landed on a clearing.
As soon as they stepped out, they saw Daisuke, accompanied by a shiny Metang and a Chikorita.
"Teacher Jing He."
“What happened?”
Jing He remembered that Zuzuji Mijin had already called for the Kana Green Tunnel project to be halted.
The Kana Green Tunnel was a major project by the Hoenn League, aimed at connecting Kanaz City and Greenleaf Town. If the tunnel could be completed, it would greatly benefit the development of Greenleaf Town and the residents of both cities. However, it would also have a significant impact on the environment and wild Pokemon.
From Daisuke’s explanation, Jing He learned that Devon Corporation had indeed stopped the construction, and some of the equipment was being gradually removed. However, the Kana Green Tunnel was a large-scale project, and if Devon didn’t take it, other companies, big or small, would. These other companies might cause even more environmental damage.
In a difficult position, Devon Corporation had no choice but to continue the project, but they were doing their best to minimize the environmental impact and even investing their own resources to restore damaged areas.
“So, the most worrying issue of wild Pokemon unrest has still appeared?” Jing He asked.
“Yeah,” Daisuke nodded, a worried expression on his face.
He led Jing He to the construction site. From a distance, they could see a group of wild Pokemon already occupying the area.
If it were another company, they might have resorted to violent eviction. Some might even contact Pokemon hunters to capture the wild Pokemon, to avoid future complications.
Daisuke, considering Jing He’s expertise as a Pokemon psychologist, who could even calm down rampaging Pokemon, thought it might be possible to ask Jing He to help pacify the wild Pokemon.
Otherwise, if another company took over, the harm to the wild Pokemon could be even greater.
This gave Jing He a headache.
Pacifying the wild Pokemon might not be difficult, but as long as the construction continued, more unrest was inevitable.
“Daisuke.”
“Hmm?”
“Is there a possibility that Devon could create an ecological reserve and relocate these wild Pokemon there?” Jing He suggested.
Daisuke looked at Jing He with surprise.
“That’s exactly what Father is preparing.”
Jing He was taken aback.
That made sense. Zuzuji, the president of Devon Corporation, had built such a large business from scratch; he wouldn’t overlook such a solution.
As for the investment, it wasn’t a big deal for Devon Corporation.
This way, even though the wild Pokemon would have to change their habitat, they wouldn’t lose their homes and wouldn’t have to fight other Pokemon for territory.
“However, before that, pacifying them is the priority,” Daisuke said.
Only by calming them down could they communicate and attempt to relocate them to the ecological reserve.
Jing He and Daisuke approached, scanning the area. They quickly found the “leader” of the group, a Bellsprout with its arms crossed and eyes narrowed, exuding a formidable presence.
Bellsprout is a Grass- and Fighting-type Pokemon. Despite its short arms, they extend rapidly when it punches, showcasing skills that would make any boxer envious.
The Paras, Oddish, Bellsprout, Parasect, and other Pokemon clearly looked up to it.
Jing He was quite familiar with Bellsprout. The combination of its “Poison Heal” ability and “Toxic Orb” was a rather effective strategy when it was first developed. Of course, Bellsprout’s “Spore” and “Technician” abilities were also very useful.
“Nosa!”
Seeing Jing He and Daisuke approach, Bellsprout assumed a fighting stance, ready to attack if they came any closer.
“Haunter, go and communicate.”
“Keh—Jeh—Jeh—”
Haunter licked its tongue and floated forward, grinning.
Bellsprout shuddered.
“Nosa, Nosa!” (W-What are you doing? Don’t come any closer!)
“Keh—Jeh—Jeh—” (Hehe, let's chat. What will it take for you to stop?)
“Nosa!” (Beat me!)
In the wild, Pokemon battle for territory with their fists.
“Keh! Keh!” (Alright—)
“Nosa!” (You’re not good enough! Go back!)
The Parasect looked past the somewhat unsettling Gengar.
The Metang and Steelix looked too tough, no good.
Those Machoke and Machamp were all bulging muscles, no good either.
But soon, Parasect’s eyes lit up as it found its target.
“Nosa!” (You!)
“Ou, ou?”
Jing He’s arms held a puzzled Glaceon, who looked at the Parasect pointing at her.
Parasect scratched its head, showing a bit of embarrassment.
It didn’t like challenging “weaker” Pokemon.
But for the sake of its companions, it had to choose the opponent that seemed the easiest to defeat.
This was for the greater good!
“Keh?”
Gengar’s expression turned serious.
Who did you choose?
But before it could continue, Jing He readily agreed.
“Fine.”
Facing Dianthus’s puzzled gaze, he explained calmly:
“To communicate with wild Pokemon, if we don’t even listen to their first request, how can we proceed?”
He then smiled and looked at Glaceon.
“Remember how we train?”
“Ou.”
Glaceon responded with some worry.
“Don’t worry, just follow my lead, and don’t stress.”
“If we lose, we’ll let Gengar hypnotize them all and take them away!”
Dianthus, Gengar, and Parasect: “???”
“Ou!”
Encouraged by Jing He’s gaze, Glaceon’s expression grew serious, and she nodded firmly.
Thump—
She jumped down from his arms.
Snow began to fall lightly, and the temperature dropped.
“‘Snow Warning’ ability?” Dianthus murmured.
Parasect, which had initially underestimated Glaceon, immediately felt a chill.
It vaguely realized that this little one might not be so easy to handle.
“Glaceon, use Charm.”
“Ou~”
Little Glaceon stood up, playfully blinking at Parasect and waving her paws.
“Nosa, Nosa.”
Parasect froze, its cheeks turning red, almost losing its fighting spirit. Many of the wild Pokemon behind it had hearts in their eyes.
“Glaceon, use Frost Breath.” Jing He remained calm, knowing Glaceon’s cute charm was quite powerful.
“Ou—”
Taking advantage of Parasect’s daze, Glaceon’s mouth opened slightly, and a cold, icy breath mixed with falling snow blew out.
For a moment, Parasect was enveloped in the freezing air, with ice crystals forming on its body.
Ice-type moves were particularly deadly to Grass-type Pokemon.
But the cold also snapped Parasect out of Glaceon’s charm, and its eyes sharpened.
With a powerful kick, it dodged to the side, avoiding the frosty breath while its fist glowed with white light.
It then took a step forward, striking Glaceon with incredible speed.
Mach Punch!
The sound of the punch breaking the air grew louder, and a hint of panic flashed in Glaceon’s eyes.
At the same time, Parasect, using the momentum from its Mach Punch, changed its move, dodging to the other side to avoid any potential obstacles, with dark red waves circling its fist.
Focus Punch!
“Don’t panic, use Psychic!”
Jing He’s timely voice made the somewhat flustered Glaceon react.
Her eyes glowed faintly.
“Ou!!”
As Parasect’s fist was less than half a meter away, a powerful Psychic force erupted from Glaceon.
Bang!!
The massive impact sent Parasect flying.
Gengar shrank back, recognizing the scene.
Psychic-type moves were a significant threat to the Fighting-type Parasect.
Even so, Parasect struggled to get back up.
Bang!!
Another Psychic force landed.
Glaceon’s expression was serious.
She remembered Gengar saying that the battle wasn’t over until the opponent was down!
The third, fourth, and fifth hits followed in quick succession.
She seemed to be in the zone.
Bang!!
Bang!!
“Sss—” Gengar took a breath.
I told you not to choose her, didn’t I?
“Glaceon, that’s enough!”
Seeing Parasect, who had lost its fighting ability but was still trembling under the Psychic pressure, Jing He quickly called out.
“Ou?”
Glaceon looked back, puzzled.
Just like that?
