Chapter 77: A Slice of Lemon
Chapter 77: A Slice of Lemon
The tiny vials, no bigger than a thumb, contained a golden potion that shimmered like melted gold, both dazzling and captivating.
After careful observation, Kyle was certain that the vials held none other than the Luck Elixir.
The Luck Elixir, also known as the Luck Potion, was arguably the most complex potion in the magical world, bar none.
The precious potion ingredients aside, the most crucial aspect was its six-month-long brewing process, during which any lapse in concentration meant starting anew.
Each tiny vial was worth a fortune.
"Where did you get this?" Kyle turned and asked.
"It's a Christmas gift from Professor Snape, my Potions teacher," Conna replied, puzzled. "What about you? Didn't you get one?"
At these words, Kyle's heart sank.
Forget about the Luck Elixir; Snape hadn't even given him an empty vial.
"Um..." Kyle struggled to hold back the acid rising in his stomach, his expression complex as he asked, "Did you know Professor Snape before?"
Conna shook her head and then nodded. "I heard Mom mention his name, but I'd never met him before coming to Hogwarts."
Kyle glanced at Conna thoughtfully.
Prince?
When Snape had first awarded Conna points, Kyle had felt something was amiss, but at the time, he'd thought it was just a simple acquaintance, so he didn't overthink it.
But now it seemed he'd been mistaken.
If it were just a simple acquaintance, even a close friend, Snape wouldn't have given Conna the Luck Elixir as a gift.
Malfoy had never received such treatment.
Clearly, there was a deep connection between Snape and the surname Prince.
Kyle pondered for a moment, and as he did, he suddenly realized he'd heard the surname before—it sounded so familiar, yet he couldn't quite place it.
The only thing he could think of was Prince, like the musician.
But that had nothing to do with the magical world.
Kyle thought for a long time, and finally decided to give up. Holding the glass vial, he asked, "Do you know what this is?"
"A cold remedy?" Conna replied uncertainly.
Kyle shook his head and didn't keep her guessing. "No, it's the Luck Elixir."
"Pfft... Kyle, you're still half-asleep," Conna suddenly laughed out loud. "This potion may look like the Luck Elixir, but I don't know Professor Snape, so why would he give me something so valuable? It's impossible."
"Why impossible?" Kyle gently shook the vial. "Aside from the Luck Elixir, what other potion could this liquid gold be?"
Conna continued to shake her head. "Professor Snape is a master of potions. Changing the color of a potion shouldn't be difficult for him.
Maybe this is just a Christmas surprise for everyone, and it's actually a cold remedy inside."
Kyle explained a few more times, but Conna always found a reason to refute him, and eventually, even Kyle began to doubt himself.
Kyle could understand Conna's reaction.
To be honest, if this vial had been in his gift, he wouldn't have believed it was the Luck Elixir either.
He'd only think it was a special poison brewed by Snape, made to look like the Luck Elixir to trick him into drinking it.
At that time, Conna might have firmly believed it was the Luck Elixir, and he'd be the one constantly finding reasons to refute her.
A principle.
So Kyle didn't say anything further.
In fact, confirming or making Conna believe whether the contents of this bottle were truly the Luck Elixir was quite simple; one only needed to clarify the relationship between Snape and Prince's surname.
However, before that, it would be better for him to keep this bottle for safekeeping.
Conna often lost things, and who knows when this bottle would be next.
If the contents were truly the Luck Elixir, it would be too late to regret later.
He glanced at Conna and said, "Can I keep this bottle for now?"
Conna nonchalantly clapped her hands and said, "I'd even give it to you as a gift."
Kyle quickly declined, "Never mind, I'm afraid you'll regret it later and cry your eyes out."
He was just joking; he wasn't the type to take advantage of others in their moment of weakness. At most, he had slightly less integrity than others.

"I won't cry..." Conna seemed very dissatisfied with Kyle's choice of words. She scrunched her nose and said firmly, "Since I said I won't regret giving it to you, and even if you return it, I won't take it back."
Kyle shrugged indifferently.
It was just that he didn't have anything to record with him at the moment; otherwise, he would have definitely recorded Conna's words.
Then, at an appropriate time, he would have played it on a loop in the common room for an entire day.
After leaving the common room, Kyle went to the library and stayed there until noon.
The Christmas feast was sumptuous, with a hundred plump roasted turkeys, mountains of roasted meat and potatoes, plates of small sausages, and peas with butter. For some reason, Kyle even spotted some roasted biscuits.
As he walked along the dining table, he also saw piles of wizard crackers, which, like the Christmas tree, were indispensable items for Christmas.
Kyle picked up one of the crackers in front of him and pulled off the string at the bottom.
With a booming explosion, a lace-trimmed and fringed lady's hat slowly descended from mid-air and landed in front of Kyle.
Kyle glanced around discreetly and put the hat into his morphing lizard skin bag.
Professor Snape's Christmas gift for next year was now settled.
After that, Kyle pulled several more crackers.
The booming explosions were like a firecracker version of a Jumping Jack, and he didn't have to worry about getting hurt. It was incredibly addictive to play with.
By the time the banquet began, the items beside Kyle had almost piled up into a small mountain.
There were six hats of various shapes for men and women, two sets of wizard chess, three rubber wands, and several strange small props... and one cockroach mound(?).
To be honest, Kyle wasn't sure if this thing was real, so he could only put it in a transparent box and keep it away from himself.
The house elves' culinary skills were as reliable as ever. Kyle looked at the huge turkey and cut a piece of leg meat from it. He then made a pizza with a baked flatbread, meat sauce, and sausage.
After the turkey, there was the fiery Christmas pudding, which also held a little surprise. Conna's pudding had a silke wrapped inside.
Kyle cut into his pudding with some anticipation, revealing a hint of yellow...
Then, Kyle put down his knife.
He couldn't cut any further; if he did, the mango jam would leak out.
