Chapter 766: A Timely Arrival
Chapter 766: A Timely Arrival
!? !? !? !? !? !? !?
Looking at the black-haired man shamelessly embracing his daughter and declaring himself a freeloader, Sheva's mind went blank, experiencing a shock far more intense than when she had just regained her memories.
However, before her mother-in-law could feel the anger of her precious daughter being embraced by such a despicable wild boar, the terrifying scene behind the black-haired man made her whole body freeze as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
"No! No! No!"
After screaming in fear and despair three times, Sheva, as the link between Bone, Flesh, Blood, and Heart, couldn't help but open her eyes wide, ignoring the pain in her heart that felt like it was about to tear apart. She screamed out a warning:
"Go back! We have to go back!"
Go back? Go where?
Upon hearing Sheva's scream, the Earthline Descendants, who had just recovered from the excruciating pain in their hearts, couldn't help but look at each other in bewilderment. The dark-haired woman reached out to support her falling daughter and asked with confusion in her eyes:
"Sheva? What do you mean? Where are you telling us to go?"
"To the Marrow Realm! Let's go back quickly! Hurry!!!"
Recalling the terrifying future she had witnessed, Sheva trembled and grabbed her mother's arm, leaning her whole weight on her. With fear in her eyes, she shouted:
"I saw destruction ahead! We can't go any further! Absolutely not! Not a single step! We must go back now!"
"..."
"Move! Let's go! If we don't go back now, it'll be too late!!!"
"..."
"Why aren't you moving...?"
"We've been trapped for a whole decade!"
The tall and thin elder, who had almost killed Leon, hesitated and said:
"For the fulfillment of your previous prophecy, all our tribesmen endured hardships in the Marrow Realm, which led to our escape today. But now, right after we've gotten out, you're telling us to go back. Isn't this a bit..."
"It's different this time! This time, it's not the same!"
Recalling the horrifying scene she had seen, Sheva clenched her teeth and shouted:
"If we go any further, it'll truly be the end! Didn't we just witness this together?"
"This isn't what we saw. These are only what 'you' saw."
After intentionally emphasizing the word 'you', the short and sturdy Earthline Leader furrowed his brows and asked with a hint of disdain in his eyes:
"Sheva, do you still consider yourself an Earthline Descendant?"
"Huh???"
"Your appearance now is that of a complete human."
Looking at Sheva, who stood before him in human form, the Earthline Leader, named after Blood, opened his mouth and said:
"You are a creation of Flesh, born from the union of the Heart and the Priestess, and you split from my body. You carry the bloodline of the Ten Great Earthline Descendants."
"Even though we share the same bloodline, you've only been with us for less than three years. In contrast, you've lived among humans for thirty years, which is ten times longer than the time you spent with us."
As Sheva looked on in shock and confusion, the short and sturdy Earthline Leader's eyes narrowed with suspicion as he spoke:
"You are the only one who can see the future with the help of the Heart, and on top of that, you even refused the Earth's gift, unable to grow the Grace Scales... So, did you really see the future?"
"It's not like that... Please believe me!"
Noticing the suspicious and distant gazes of her tribesmen, Sheva shivered and clenched her fists. She quickly turned her head to look at the silent dark-haired woman and pleaded with panic in her eyes:
"Mother! You know me! You know I wouldn't lie to you!"
"I... I believe you.
After some hesitation, she nodded reluctantly, seeing the resistance in the eyes of her fellow tribesmen. The black-haired woman sighed, "But we've finally escaped from the Marrow Realm. If we return now and the Purification Bureau seals it again, wouldn't that mean..."
"That's the best future we can hope for!"
Seeing the situation unfolding before her, Sheva couldn't help but desperately try to convince them, "We can coexist with the Purification Bureau and humans! Haven't the Sea and Feather Tribes already done so?"
"Mother! If we return to the Marrow Realm on our own accord and stop interfering with the Earth's core, the Purification Bureau and humans will realize that our attitude has changed! They'll follow suit..."
"Sheva, is it the Purification Bureau's attitude or your attitude towards humans that has changed?"
"I... you believe me, right? I'm not lying! We must return immediately! Going back to the Marrow Realm is our only chance at survival!"
Sheva's heart sank as she saw her mother's silence and the distant gazes of her fellow tribesmen. She felt a chill run through her body, and her vision blurred. The black-haired woman quickly supported her, preventing her from falling.
The black-haired woman, named Flesh, caught Sheva as she spoke apologetically, "Sheva, they don't distrust you. Perhaps the future you speak of could be a good one.
But we've endured so much in the Marrow Realm, and we've only just found a way out. We don't want to entrust our tribe's fate to the mercy of the Purification Bureau and humans. So... I'm sorry."
Sheva's eyes widened in shock.
As Sheva looked on in despair, the black-haired woman waved her hand and summoned a stone chair. She placed Sheva, whose heart was pounding and body was weak, onto the chair. She gently caressed Sheva's pale lips, then spoke with determination, "As long as the three of us stand on Earth, we are unkillable. No matter what's happening above, as long as we three clan leaders are here, we can hold out until everyone else can retreat safely. Even if the Purification Bureau's directors launch a collective attack, we can forcefully carve out a path of survival for our people!"
But the being waiting above is far more terrifying than the Purification Bureau!
Sheva watched as her mother stood up and headed towards the other two Earthline Leaders. She wanted to persuade her mother again but found a smooth scale pressed against her lips, sealing her ability to speak.
"Let's go." The black-haired woman nodded apologetically towards Sheva, then raised her hands towards the ceiling above the Earth's core, which was riddled with massive cracks. She spread her palms wide, and the hard ceiling, adorned with hanging stalactites, split open like a gaping wound. A kilometer-long passageway emerged, parting like the Red Sea.
To Sheva's astonishment and the confusion of the other Earthline Descendants, the black-haired man who had just fled in a panic reappeared at the end of the passageway, holding a blushing blue-haired girl. He looked down at them in surprise.
"Hmm? Perfect timing!" The Earthline Leader narrowed her eyes, deciphering the black-haired man's unconscious mutterings from his trembling lips.
Before the Earthline Leaders could understand what he meant by "perfect timing," a massive snow mountain suddenly appeared out of thin air. It was forcefully jammed into the passageway above, like a cork in a bottle, and plummeted towards them.
