Chapter 763: They Have Arrived
Chapter 763: They Have Arrived
"During the meeting a few days ago, there was a proposal to address the increasing prominence of the Six Demon Generals. We cannot afford to ignore their actions any longer, so it has been decided that we will launch a punitive expedition against them."
"Given the formidable strength of the Six Demon Generals, it was decided at the meeting that a coalition force should be formed, comprising three guilds: Fairy Tail, Lamia Scale, and Blue Pegasus!"
Makarov stood before the many mages of Fairy Tail, his fist clenched as he spoke.
"Then, who will we be sending from our guild?" Erza asked, her gaze calm.
Makarov paused for a moment, then said, "Since we are forming a coalition, there is no need to deploy a large force. However, we must not underestimate the Six Demon Generals, and we will still need to send a powerful team of mages. Erza..."
"Yes." Erza responded, composed.
Makarov turned to look at the other side of the room, where Natsu and Gray were brawling, and shook his head helplessly.
Just as he was about to call out their names, a voice piped up.
"I have some free time, so I might as well join."
The mages in the guild were all taken aback, and they looked up to the second floor, where they saw Fengye leaning against the railing, gazing down casually.
"Fengye..." Makarov was slightly surprised but quickly nodded in agreement. "If you're willing to go, that's excellent. With you and Erza, we shouldn't have any problems. Who else do you think we should send?"
Fengye's gaze casually swept over the crowd and landed on Wendy, who was standing at the back with a white cat in her arms. He smiled warmly at her and asked, "Would you like to join us, Wendy?"
"Eh? Me... Am I up for it?" Wendy asked softly.
She wanted to join the mission, of course, now that Fengye was going. But this time, they were up against the powerful dark guild, the Six Demon Generals, and she lacked confidence, afraid that she would hold them back.
Fengye smiled gently and said, "Your strength has long surpassed many others."
These words were not meant to comfort Wendy but were the truth. Aside from the fact that Wendy had his care and support, her current strength was by no means inferior to that of an S-class mage. Even without his help, Wendy was a bona fide Dragon Slayer, with the Sky Dragon Grandine residing within her.
It was only natural for her to unleash her dragon power in times of crisis.
"Oh, okay then..." Wendy replied shyly, her eyes darting around.
Makarov's expression softened as he said, "Very well, then. Fengye, you, Erza, and Wendy will go. Your strengths should be more than enough."
With the team decided, Fengye set off with Erza and Wendy.
Although they were facing the formidable dark guild, the Six Demon Generals, Erza felt confident having Fengye as her companion. In fact, she had always wanted to go on a mission with him and showcase her abilities.
This time, it seemed that her wish would come true.
While it wasn't just the two of them, Erza didn't mind Wendy coming along. Among the girls close to Fengye, Erza was the least concerned about Wendy.
After all, she was too young and too adorable for Erza to feel any sense of rivalry or exclusion.
A day later.
The trio arrived at the rendezvous point, which was the residence of the Blue Pegasus guild master.
"Greetings to our comrades from Fairy Tail. We have been expecting you. We are the members selected by Blue Pegasus for this expedition: Hibiki Laytis of the Hundred Nights, Eve Tearm of the Holy Night, and Ren Akatsuki of the Empty Night."
Noticing how close Erza and Fengye stood to each other, clearly more intimate than companions, Hyoya couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy as he remarked, "So, this is the Fairy's Night I've heard about. You two are indeed a perfect match."
Even with his standards, he had to admit that Fengye outshone him, and the latter's fame in the magic world far surpassed his own. There were countless beautiful girls who had fallen for Fengye.
Hyoya's words caused a slight flush to rise on Erza's cheeks. She was usually unmoved by such words, but hearing that she and Fengye made a perfect couple stirred her heart.
She took a deep breath to steady herself and asked, "Has the Snake Princess's team not arrived yet?"
"They're not here yet," replied a melodious voice from upstairs. A man with a square face, whose appearance was completely mismatched with his voice, descended the stairs, saying, "It's been a long time, Erza. I never expected you to already have a boyfriend. I'm so sad..."
Erza: "..."
She twitched her mouth, feeling an urge to slash someone.
Fengye casually snapped his fingers, and in an instant, Yoyo's mouth was sealed shut as if glued, leaving him unable to open it no matter how he struggled, and he could only let out a worried hum.
"Mr. Yoyo, what's wrong?!"
Hyoya and the others were startled and quickly rushed over, huddling around him.
Yoyo flailed about, but he still couldn't break free.
Just as the room descended into chaos, the door opened once more, and several people stepped inside. Leading them was a man holding a wand, his expression resolute. It was Jura, the captain of the team sent by Lamia Scale, and the current lowest-ranked member of the Ten Wizard Saints!
Jura looked at Erza and Fengye, a friendly smile on his face as he greeted them, "Oh, it's Miss Erza and Mr. Fengye. With the two of you here, we can rest easy for this punitive expedition."
"Mr. Jura, you flatter us. You're one of the Ten Wizard Saints yourself," Erza replied politely.
Jura smiled humbly and said, "Not at all... Miss Erza, you've defeated a member of the Ten Wizard Saints who's ranked higher than me, and Mr. Fengye has repeatedly turned down the title of a Saint. Compared to the two of you, I still have a long way to go."
Leo stepped forward from behind Jura and spoke seriously, "Let's leave the pleasantries there. Since we have three members of the Ten Wizard Saints here, I believe we don't need to be overly cautious about facing the Six Demon Generals. We can just find them and crush them head-on."
"No, we mustn't underestimate the Six Demon Generals," Jura said in a low voice. "Each of those six individuals possesses tremendous power. Even if our side has stronger overall combat strength, we mustn't be too careless. It would be best to discuss our battle strategy first... Well, Mr. Fengye?"
Jura looked surprised as he glanced to the side, seeing that Fengye didn't seem interested in their discussion. Instead, he tilted his head up, looking outside as he walked toward the door.
Fengye took a couple of steps and then stopped, his expression calm as he said, "There's no need to discuss a battle strategy anymore. They've already arrived."
