Chapter 762: Three Dragon Corpses
Chapter 762: Three Dragon Corpses
These weren't ordinary dragons.
Zhong Feng used his pacing method to measure the body length and wingspan of the three dragons. He found that the wingspans of the two side dragons were at least 40 meters, while the middle dragon had an astounding 50-meter wingspan!
"Good heavens, these aren't just any dragons! These are Dragon Kings!" Zhong Feng almost blurted out.
In the dragon race, size was the best indicator of strength. A dragon's power generally correlated directly with its size.
An average adult dragon had a wingspan of 30 to 35 meters and was around the fifth tier in strength.
Sixth-tier dragons typically had wingspans of over 40 meters, usually ranging from 40 to 45 meters. Sixth-tier dragons were considered the upper echelon of the dragon race.
The transparent psionic tanks at the research facility contained the bodies of a white dragon and a black dragon on the left and right sides, both with body lengths exceeding 40 meters. Clearly, they were both sixth-tier or higher dragons.
The tank in the middle was even more impressive!
After repeated measurements, Zhong Feng confirmed that this dragon's wingspan was at least 50 meters!
This meant it was a top-tier seventh-tier dragon!
Seventh-tier dragons were not as common as cabbages among the dragon race. Currently, there were only about 12 to 14 seventh-tier dragons in existence. (Data sourced from the internet.)
Even the Five-Color Dragon King was merely a seventh-tier dragon.
Now, a dragon corpse of such caliber, comparable to a Dragon King, was here, being dissected and studied by the Skrellians. This was a significant event!
And it wasn't just these three dragon corpses.
Zhong Feng circled around the area and saw that the entire mountain cavity was scattered with organs and tissues cut from dragons.
Not only were there materials from white, black, and red dragons (the seventh-tier dragon being a red dragon), but there were also blue and green dragon materials.
Seeing this, Zhong Feng was utterly stunned, at a loss for words.
...
Zhong Feng had read a lot about the dragon race last night and knew that the dragons strictly prohibited any dragon-related products.
Dragons were practically treasure troves.
Their scales, horns, crystals, eyes, and more could be used to craft top-tier equipment or high-powered psionic devices.
This led to the emergence of "Dragon Hunters" as a special profession in ancient Skrellia.
However, in modern times, the dragon race strictly forbade any dragon-related materials or finished products from being traded in the market.
Upon discovery, the dragon race would dispatch specialized enforcement teams to thoroughly investigate (and hunt to the death).
Therefore, the equipment market in Skrellia had no items related to dragons, not even those with the word "dragon" in their names.
Dragon materials could not be traded, and dragon corpses were strictly off-limits.
Per dragon race requirements, a dragon's body must be returned to the dragon burial grounds on Dragon Island after death. No other being in the world was allowed to retain it privately, let alone dissect and study it.
It wasn't just the dragon race; ordinary humans felt the same way. If a human saw foreigners dissecting and studying their fellow countrymen, any normal person would be enraged.
The Leryang Empire possessed so many dragon corpses. Zhong Feng was 100% certain that these were all obtained through illegal means, and the dragon race was unaware of this.
If the dragons on Dragon Island saw this scene, they would likely be livid with rage!
...
Without hesitation, Zhong Feng took out his camera and began photographing the dragon corpses in the tanks. He took dozens of photos from different angles for each tank and even recorded videos.
Not only did he photograph the three containers, but he also captured images of the scattered dragon materials around them as evidence.
The entire underground chamber wasn't entirely devoid of Skrull presence. In the depths of the space, a few researchers who hadn't left were still diligently conducting experiments.
However, they were completely unaware of Zhong Feng's presence. He even approached them and recorded their experimental processes on camera.
...
Photographing and recording videos took about 30 minutes. Once he was done, he got down to business, searching the underground space for research materials.
"Dragon Island Natural History Magazine..."
"Dragon Island Ecosystem Analysis..."
"13 Must-Eat Dishes for Dragons... What is this even about?"
Many of the research materials here were completely useless to him. Finding what he needed was incredibly difficult.
Fortunately, hard work pays off.
After searching for over five minutes, he finally found a book on dragon reproduction—The Reproduction and Breeding of the Dragon Race.
Zhong Feng eagerly opened the book and skimmed through it quickly.
However, after reading the table of contents and flipping through the entire book, he felt somewhat disappointed.
The book contained information similar to what he had found online. It mainly discussed how the dragons' reproductive capabilities were highly developed in ancient times, with strong breeding desires and the emergence of numerous sub-species.
However, in recent modern times, for unknown reasons, the dragons' reproductive abilities had drastically declined, and the cause was still undetermined.
According to the book's hypothesis, the significant decline in reproductive abilities was related to the entire food chain. The Skrull humans, with their high intelligence, had taken over the dragons' position in the food chain, reducing the variety of food available to dragons, which in turn suppressed the entire race's reproductive capabilities.
Zhong Feng didn't entirely believe the explanation provided in the book.
He continued searching the underground chamber for other materials on dragon reproduction.
Not only books, but also the researchers' notes and experimental data were key focuses of his investigation.
...
Time ticked by, minute by minute.
Gradually, Zhong Feng searched from midnight until 6 AM.
During these six hours, he almost went through all the documents in the entire underground chamber, reading almost all the research materials related to dragon reproduction.
Unfortunately, while the conclusions in these books might be correct, they didn't provide the answers he sought.
Zhong Feng wanted to confirm the connection between the Lieryang Royal Family and the dragons' reproductive issues, but none of the books or research materials mentioned the Lieryang Royal Family.
It was unclear whether the Lieryang Royal Family was entirely uninvolved in this matter or if the low-ranking members of the research institute simply didn't know the truth.
After a full six hours, Zhong Feng's gains weren't particularly significant.
"Fine, I'll head back today!" Zhong Feng lightly patted his hands.
Finding what he needed was almost complete; the entire dragon research institute had little left to offer.
He took photos of some of the more valuable books and research materials and then planned to leave.
He activated the Echo of the Ghost Cat ability and returned to the surface through the elevator shaft, retracing his steps to exit the "Longlong" research institute.
The entire process went unnoticed by the research institute, with no alarms triggered. He left silently, as if he had never been there at all.
