Chapter 762: The Six Demon Generals
Chapter 762: The Six Demon Generals
Several days later.
The Paradise Tower incident concluded peacefully, and Erza had attained a power comparable to the Ten Wizard Saints, but due to her lack of experience, she did not immediately replace Jellal as one of the Ten Wizard Saints.
However, she didn't mind this slight setback. After all, she now possessed the strength of a Ten Wizard Saint, and it was only a matter of time before she was recognized as one, should she desire it.
In the time that followed, the magical world remained peaceful, but the atmosphere within Fairy Tail became increasingly tense.
The primary source of this tension was Laxus.
Previously, held in check by Feng Ye and Gildarts, Laxus had grudgingly accepted their superiority, especially since Feng Ye had declined the invitation to join the Ten Wizard Saints.
But now, Erza had defeated a member of the Ten Wizard Saints in single combat and was already regarded as a new member of their ranks, a position that clearly surpassed his own!
This was something he found difficult to accept!
On one hand, Erza had once been weaker than him. When he became an S-Class Mage in Fairy Tail, Erza had been a much younger and less experienced mage.
But now, in the eyes of others, Erza had surpassed him, and he struggled to come to terms with this. As a result, he began to create friction within the guild.
In just half a month.
Erza and Laxus's encounters often ended with a few barbed words, and their mutual hostility grew. Only Makarov and the other guild members intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further.
However, it was clear that this intervention was only a temporary solution, and Makarov knew it. So, on a day half a month later, Erza finally agreed to a duel with Laxus!
The two would settle their differences and determine who was stronger! Laxus intended to defeat Erza, then challenge Mistgun, and finally take on Feng Ye to become the strongest mage in Fairy Tail!
At this moment, Laxus was just a hair's breadth away from attaining the level of a Ten Wizard Saint, but his fate when facing Erza, who had already reached that pinnacle, was obvious to all.
...
In the courtyard.
Feng Ye held a watering can and leisurely watered the flowers. Aside from him, the only other person present was Wendy, who could sense the magical fluctuations in the distance caused by Erza and Laxus's battle. She held a doll and looked at Feng Ye, asking, "Brother Feng Ye, aren't you going to go watch?"
"No need."
Feng Ye smiled gently and replied, "Erza will definitely win."
Wendy glanced into the distance, sensing the magical fluctuations, and said, "I also think Erza will win, but... Laxus's magic power seems to have broken through that limit as well."
"Mhm, but he still won't be able to win."
Feng Ye put down the watering can and ruffled Wendy's hair affectionately.
Laxus, as a member of Fairy Tail, also possessed the ability to break through his limits in the face of adversity. During his battle with Erza, he had pushed past the barriers and broken through to the level of a Ten Wizard Saint in terms of magical power. Yet, even with this boost, he was still no match for Erza.
After all, whether it was their background, current strength, or equipment, he couldn't compare to Erza, so how could he hope to win?
"If you want to go and watch, then go ahead."
Feng Ye glanced in the direction of Magnolia's outskirts, where Erza and Laxus were fighting, and smiled reassuringly at Wendy.
Wendy was a little torn. She wanted to go and watch, as Lucy and Mira had already gone to observe the battle, but she also wanted to stay with Feng Ye and simply enjoy the quiet time together.
This internal conflict left her feeling a bit tangled up.
After all, opportunities to spend time with Feng Ye were rare.
Feng Ye saw through her thoughts and chuckled softly. He picked up the spray bottle and casually spritzed some water into the air. The droplets formed a watery screen that directly displayed the battlefield where Erza and Laxus were dueling.
Unfortunately for him,
The Law of the Fairy could only harm those recognized as enemies, and Laxus didn't truly view the members of Fairy Tail as his enemies. As a result, when he unleashed the Law of the Fairy, it had no effect on Erza.
"It's... Law of the Fairy! This is bad..."
Wendy covered her mouth with her hand, her face paling slightly as she spoke in a panic. But just then, a flash of golden light caught her eye, and she saw that Erza remained unharmed. Confused, she asked, "It had no effect... Why is that?"
Feng Ye, standing beside her, placed a hand on her shoulder and explained with a hint of amusement in his voice, "The reason is simple. Laxus is just an unruly child, or to put it another way... hmm, perhaps a better term would be 'tsundere.'"
"Tsundere?"
Wendy paused, chewing on the unfamiliar word. Although she was hearing it for the first time, she could roughly guess its meaning, and she couldn't help but let out a soft laugh.
Feng Ye waved his hand dismissively, dispersing the watery screen, and then turned to walk back into the room.
...
The battle between Erza and Laxus eventually concluded with Erza emerging as the victor.
However, in the eyes of many,
Erza's victory wasn't entirely convincing. After all, if Laxus' Law of the Fairy had taken effect, it was uncertain if Erza could have withstood it.
Even Erza herself wasn't sure if she could have resisted the super magic, as it was created by the guild's founder. Makarov had once used it to instantly defeat Joseph, another member of the Ten Wizard Saints.
The only one who knew the truth was Feng Ye.
He was aware that Erza could withstand the Law of the Fairy due to the various gifts he had given her, as well as the power of the dragon that lay dormant within her bloodline.
However, he kept this knowledge to himself. Although Laxus had lost the battle, he still retained his formidable reputation, and no one considered him truly defeated.
This was a good thing.
After this duel, Laxus finally came to terms with his true feelings. It was obvious to everyone that the Law of the Fairy hadn't worked because he didn't truly view his guildmates as enemies. Despite his attempts to maintain a tough exterior, he couldn't keep up the pretense any longer. So, he accepted an SSS-level mission and left on a long journey.
With Laxus gone, the guild entered a period of calm. The members of Fairy Tail settled into a routine of accepting missions, returning to rest, and then heading out on new adventures.
It's worth mentioning that
Erza, Mira, Lisanna, Lucy, and Juvia began taking turns going on missions, ensuring that not all of them were away from the guild at the same time.
Even with this arrangement, there still wasn't enough Feng Ye to go around, but at least they had more opportunities for one-on-one time with him, and they occasionally gathered together as a group.
Finally,
About a month later,
The Magic Council issued a request to Fairy Tail, disrupting their peaceful routine. The mission tasked Fairy Tail, along with two other guilds, to form a united force to eliminate the Six Demon Generals, one of the Balam Alliance's formidable forces!
