Chapter 760: The Start of School and the Prefect Badge
Chapter 760: The Start of School and the Prefect Badge
Ivan held the two heavy books in his arms, feeling the weight of the legacy they carried.
After a moment's hesitation, Ivan set the Trunk aside and turned to Nicolas Flamel, speaking with a serious tone.
"Master, I can stay and accompany you for a while longer."
Ivan spoke earnestly, feeling it was his duty to do something for the old man, even if it was something as small as seeing him off...
"I am glad to hear that... Hals!" Nicolas Flamel slowly shook his head and said, "But there's no need. The Alchemical Creatures will take care of me. Please let an old man enjoy his final peaceful days..."
"Besides, I think Dumbledore wouldn't want to see a student take leave on the first day of school..." Nicolas Flamel added with a smile.
Seeing Nicolas Flamel's firm resolve, Ivan gave up the idea of staying. His mood, however, grew even more somber as he realized that not only Nicolas Flamel but also Dumbledore was nearing the end of their lives.
Thinking about the headmaster of Hogwarts, Ivan felt a mix of emotions.
Although the headmaster and Asia had a strained relationship, he had to admit that the old headmaster had been quite kind to him. If it were possible, Ivan would not want to hear of Dumbledore's passing.
Unfortunately, the Dark Magic that had afflicted Dumbledore was extremely difficult to counter. Even Nicolas Flamel, whose Alchemy far surpassed his own, and Britain's most skilled Potions Master, Snape, had no solution. What could he do?
After bidding farewell to Nicolas Flamel, Ivan left the house with a heavy heart. Before departing, he turned to take one last look at the courtyard, where the Ukakas, who had assembled into a large robot, waved enthusiastically at him.
Ivan nodded and waved back at them before raising his wand.
"Apparition!"
...
Meanwhile, in London, King's Cross Station.
With a shift in the air, Ivan appeared in a small alley near the station.
Once he steadied himself, Ivan looked around to ensure there were no Muggles nearby before picking up his Trunk and heading towards King's Cross Station.
On the way, Ivan noticed that the coordinates of the Safe House were gradually becoming vague and unclear, and eventually disappearing from his mind, which made him sigh.
It seemed Nicolas Flamel was truly determined to meet his fate and didn't want him to visit the site later.
"Quite merciless, Master, to erase even the coordinates", Ivan muttered to himself. However, he quickly composed himself and carried his Trunk into Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
It was the start of the school year, and the Wizarding station was bustling with noise and activity. The red Hogwarts Express was parked on the platform, its large chimney spewing thick smoke, shrouding the station in a mist.
Ivan also happened to see the Weasley family, Harry, Hermione, and others saying their goodbyes at the back of the train.
"Hey, Ivan!" Harry spotted Ivan first and waved excitedly.
Beside him, the twins George and Fred, partially hidden by Arthur Weasley, exchanged a glance and smiled.
The two suddenly swung their wands and used Instant Apparition to appear beside Ivan, reaching out to pat his shoulder.
But unfortunately, before they could succeed, Ivan's figure vanished from where he stood.
"George, Weasley? What are you two up to? Planning to show off your new Magic?" Ivan's voice came from behind them.
"Hehe... We just wanted to say hello." George turned around and found Ivan had Portkeyed behind him, giving an awkward laugh.
He had intended to surprise Ivan with a sudden appearance, but he hadn't expected Ivan to be so alert.
Fred stepped in to explain. "We've known Apparition for a while, but we never had the chance to use it... You know, underage Wizards aren't allowed to cast spells outside school, and Hogwarts has Anti-Apparition wards..."
"Of course, now it's different. We're seventeen, adults now, and no one can stop us from casting outside school!" George added proudly.
However, the Weasley Twins didn't get to enjoy their moment for long, as Mrs. Weasley, looking stern, walked over and dragged them aside to give them a severe scolding.
This summer, due to George and Fred's reckless casting at home, they had caused her a lot of trouble. Even on the way to King's Cross Station, George had enthusiastically used a Levitation Charm, nearly getting spotted by Muggles.
Ivan watched as the Weasley Twins, despite being scolded by Mrs. Weasley, still found the time to wink at him, and he couldn't help but shake his head with a mix of amusement and exasperation.
When he turned to greet the others, a figure barreled into his arms.
"Hermione, it's been a long time!" This time, Ivan didn't dodge. Instead, he wrapped his arms around her and greeted her with a smile.
"Oh, it's been a long time, Ivan!" The young witch squeezed him tightly, burying herself in his embrace as if to release all the missed moments of the past two months. She didn't let go for a long time.
It wasn't until the Hogwarts Express let out a long whistle that Hermione came to her senses. Regaining her composure and noticing the amused glances from the surrounding crowd, she quickly pretended nothing had happened and pulled away from Ivan's embrace.
Ivan reluctantly released her and then greeted Harry and the others. To his surprise, Sirius Black, Mad-Eye Moody, and Lupin were also there.
After some probing, Ivan realized they were all there to protect Harry.
Has something happened?
Ivan frowned, but before he could ask, Hermione beat him to it.
"By the way, Ivan, did you get the letter from the school?"
"Letter? What letter?" Ivan asked, puzzled.
"Of course, the Prefect Badge and the appointment letter! I received it this morning!" Hermione excitedly pulled out a letter and a red badge with a golden border from her pocket.
Ivan took it and examined it. The badge featured a roaring lion with a large "P" in the center.
"Congratulations on becoming a Prefect, Hermione!" Ivan smiled and returned the badge, genuinely happy for the young witch.
"Thank you!" Hermione squinted her eyes, a smile playing on her lips. Ivan's praise made her feel very appreciated.
