Chapter 759: Tower of Paradise
Chapter 759: Tower of Paradise
The first-ever Girl's Mahjong Tournament came to a close with Mira claiming first place, followed by Lucy and Levy in second.
Mira, who had previously lingered at the bottom of the rankings, unleashed her true skills, comparable to that of a professional, after Feng Ye offered a rewarding incentive. With a combination of skill and good fortune, she firmly secured the top spot.
Erza, not particularly adept at mahjong, placed fourth, while Lisanna finished a close third, pouting slightly as she glanced at Feng Ye.
She had just fallen short of second place.
The promised rewards remained unchanged. For second place, Feng Ye would personally cook a special dish using dragon meat from the ancient era, a delicacy with an exquisite flavor.
The first-place reward was a gift, and Feng Ye generously presented Mira with a child.
Well, not exactly a human child, but a dragon egg he had found centuries ago in the ancient world. Using his time magic, he accelerated its incubation and birth and imprinted its soul to recognize Mira as its master.
The other girls naturally gazed at this gift with envious eyes, especially Wendy, the Dragon Slayer Mage, who shared a closer bond with dragons and could communicate with them directly.
"Will it, um, be dangerous when it grows up?" Erza asked, looking at Feng Ye.
If it were a true dragon, the power it would possess when fully grown would be unimaginable and might even surpass that of the top ten wizard saints.
"Don't worry," Feng Ye smiled reassuringly. "My magic is sufficient to restrain it, and dragons can raise human children. So why can't humans raise dragons? Rest assured."
He chuckled, watching as Mira affectionately cuddled the little dragon, which had a pale golden hue. "And it will take at least a few decades for it to reach full maturity."
"Oh... okay," Erza exhaled in slight relief.
All the girls gathered around, taking turns petting the little dragon Mira had received. The little dragon, however, seemed a bit displeased and chomped down on Lucy's hand, causing her to exclaim in surprise. Fortunately, the dragon had no teeth yet and was still very weak, so it didn't inflict any real harm.
Feng Ye couldn't help but chuckle at the scene.
Just then, a communication lacrima crystal suddenly activated on Erza's person, causing her to pause momentarily before using a quick-change spell to don her formal attire. She then stepped out into the corridor to take the call.
"Erza, apologies for disturbing your vacation. Are you on a break?" Makarov's image appeared above the lacrima crystal.
Erza immediately responded, "What is it, Master?"
Makarov's voice turned grave. "The Magic Council has discovered an R-System called the Tower of Paradise out at sea. Someone is attempting to use it to resurrect an ancient Dark Mage. The Council is trying to stop them, but they're running out of time. Your current location isn't far from there..."
Even though they were on a vacation, Erza was well aware of the bigger picture and the importance of prioritizing. Upon hearing Makarov's words, she immediately replied, "I understand, Master! I'll head there right away!"
"Good, I'm counting on you," Makarov nodded.
Erza stored away the communication lacrima crystal and returned to the guest room, quickly recounting the events that had just transpired.
"Tower of Paradise, huh? Quite a coincidence," Feng Ye remarked.
Although he had come to the hot springs for a vacation and not specifically to intersect with Jellal's storyline, he was indifferent to the turn of events.
Although she often competed with Erza over Feng Ye, in critical moments involving danger, she didn't hesitate to step up.
If Erza were in mortal peril, she wouldn't hesitate to do everything in her power to help, and Erza would do the same for her. That was the bond of the Fairy Tail mages.
"I'll go too," said Juvia.
"Since the Magic Council deems it dangerous, I should come along as well," Lisanna added.
The other girls voiced their agreement.
Mira took a breath and plucked the little dragon from atop her head, cradling it in her arms before handing it to Feng Ye. "Feng Ye, please take care of it..."
"Okay, I'll escort you there," Feng Ye replied, initially intending to decline but casually accepting the dragon instead. With a wave of his hand, he opened a spatial door leading to the Tower of Paradise.
Erza and the others exchanged glances, each changing into their battle attire. Although the atmosphere was solemn, no one felt afraid, not even Levy or Wendy, because they had Feng Ye backing them up!
...
Tower of Paradise:
The entire island had transformed into a massive magic crystal. Erza, Mira, and the others crossed through the spatial door and appeared beneath the island in an instant.
Erza looked up at the top of the tower and said in a low voice, "It seems the enemy is at the very top. Let's go! We're storming the tower!"
"Yes!" Mira replied, and the other girls chimed in unison as they made their way upward. The ordinary Cult members blocking their path were no match for them.
Feng Ye brought up the rear, watching as Erza and the others began their ascent. He, too, looked up at the sky, pondering briefly before stepping forward and vanishing from sight.
Top of the Tower of Paradise:
Jellal was sitting there.
He immediately noticed the arrival of Erza and her companions. "Finally, some visitors, although they're a bit late... Stop them! Let the red-haired one through, but kill the rest!"
"Understood," replied the Three Crows of the Skull Assassination Unit, who stood before Jellal. They began to descend the tower to intercept the intruders.
Lucy, Levy, Lisanna, and Wendy took on the ordinary foot soldiers, while the more powerful Juvia, Mira, and Erza fought their way up. They each confronted one of the Three Crows of the Skull Assassination Unit, led by Banshou.
Blocking Erza's path was a female swordsman dressed in a pink kimono, holding a long sword. She moved with grace and elegance.
"My name is Banshou. It's a pleasure to meet you," she said.
"Are you the mastermind?" Erza asked, her sword drawn and pointed at Banshou.
Banshou lightly covered half of her chin with her sleeve and smiled. "No, I'm just here to stop you. Jellal is at the very top. He told me not to hinder you, but I'm quite curious about the strength of the Fairy Queen."
"Is that so..." Erza narrowed her eyes, and in an instant, her attire changed to a white suit of armor. With a fierce gaze, she said, "Then I'll defeat you and continue upward!"
