Chapter 759: The Moment of Miracles (Second Update)
Chapter 759: The Moment of Miracles (Second Update)
"Be careful, Harry!"
As Harry was about to be crushed by a large metal cabinet, Peter couldn't bother hiding his identity anymore and was about to jump over to kick the cabinet away.
However, before he could act, Jerry reached out and pulled Harry to safety.
"You see, your friend Harry needs our help. We can't just leave."
Jerry held Peter with one hand and Harry with the other.
Peter's expression was helpless. He had left to help, while Harry first thanked Jerry and then said to Jerry and Peter:
"You two should leave quickly. It's too dangerous here. The machine could explode at any moment!"
"Bang!"
All the metal windows and doors in the Experiment Room burst open due to the gravitational force, and a flood of shattered metal and glass was sucked towards the expanding Nuclear Fusion Core at an incredible speed.
At that moment, Rose, who was trying to get closer to Dr. Otto, was caught in the middle.
"Ahh!"
A terrified scream rang out.
"Miss Rose!"
Peter immediately tried to rush over to rescue her, but he couldn't move an inch because Jerry was still holding his arm.
"Go!"
Jerry let go of the hand that was holding Harry, pulled a red silk handkerchief from his chest pocket, and gently tossed it in the direction of Rose. The red silk handkerchief immediately grew larger, enveloped Rose, and then vanished with her.
Of course, Dr. Otto's wife had to be saved, but he couldn't let Peter do it. He believed that after saving Rose, Peter would immediately try to unplug the Experiment machine.
"Where is Miss Rose?"
Seeing Rose disappear along with the red silk handkerchief, Peter and Harry were stunned.
Jerry explained matter-of-factly:
"I teleported her to the street downstairs. It's a classic magic trick, the Vanishing Act. You've seen it before, right?"
"Ah, this!"
Peter and Harry were at a loss for words.
They had certainly seen the classic Vanishing Act, but it just didn't seem the same as what Jerry had done. However, they couldn't quite pinpoint the difference, especially since they weren't particularly knowledgeable about magic, and didn't know how to explain it.
But now wasn't the time to discuss that, as the Nuclear Fusion Core continued to expand, and the building's tremors grew stronger, threatening to collapse at any moment.
"Unbreakable!"
Jerry lightly tapped the ground with his right foot and cast a spell on the nearly collapsing building.
Immediately, the entire building became solid and stable. Even though the Nuclear Fusion Core's gravitational pull was still increasing, the building no longer trembled.
"Doctor, stop! The nuclear core is about to explode!"
Seeing that Jerry's grip on his arm was like a vice, preventing any movement, Peter joined Harry in shouting at Dr. Otto.
But Dr. Otto was in a state of madness and paid no attention to Harry or Peter. He was focusing all his energy on controlling the Nuclear Fusion Core with two of his octopus mechanical arms, while using the other two to make various adjustments to the machine.
Dr. Otto's four octopus mechanical arms, equipped with advanced artificial intelligence and immense strength, also contained various repair tools to assist in the experiment. This allowed him to modify the nuclear machine on the spot based on the current state of the nuclear reaction.
As Dr. Otto made temporary modifications and upgrades to the nuclear machine, the Nuclear Fusion Core gradually began to calm down.
However, just as Otto thought he was about to succeed, he suddenly noticed that the entire machine used to create the artificial sun had developed cracks.
It turned out that the machine, made of ordinary metal, simply couldn't withstand the increasingly powerful energy from the nuclear fusion core.
Even though he had temporarily upgraded the machine's performance and data to better adapt to the evolving core after its appearance, it was still not enough.
"Take this chance to run while I can still control it for a bit!"
Realizing that if the machine exploded, the nuclear fusion core would also detonate, potentially reducing the entire building to ashes, Otto pressed his four mechanical tentacles against the core and shouted to Peter and the others.
"Doctor, quickly turn off the machine's power!"
Peter pointed to the large power plug on the right side of the machine.
Otto shook his head.
"It's too late. It has already expanded to this point. Even if we turn off the machine, it won't stop the explosion. Run, I'll try to hold it off as long as I can. I'm too stubborn, I'm sorry!"
"Doctor!"
Peter and Harry looked at Otto with complex emotions.
While the situation had largely been Otto's fault, and if he had stopped the experiment when the first issues arose, there would have been no danger. They knew Otto was just too focused, but he wasn't a bad person.
"Jerry, can your magic trick of making things disappear move that nuclear fusion core to a safe place, like the ocean?"
Harry suddenly had an idea and quickly asked Jerry.
Peter looked at Harry in surprise, thinking he was joking.
He could understand making a pizza box or an ice cream cone disappear, or even a person, as these had been done in stage and street performances before. But moving a highly energetic nuclear fusion core to the ocean seemed a bit much, even for a renowned magician like David Copperfield!
"Oh, it's possible. It's a bit challenging, but not a problem."
Jerry, who had been observing the core's evolution, came back to his senses and nodded with a smile.
After Otto's adjustments, Jerry felt the nuclear fusion core was already 90% similar to a real sun. If further research continued, it might even succeed. Of course, the machine would need to be made of something stronger than ordinary metal, like vibranium.
Letting go of Peter's hand, Jerry moved like a ghost, dodging all the metal objects attracted by the core that might have hit him. He calmly approached the machine and pulled a red silk handkerchief from his chest pocket, throwing it over the nearly shattered machine and the core.
The red silk handkerchief instantly grew to an enormous size, covering the entire machine and the core.
"Next, it's time to witness a miracle!"
Jerry gave Otto and the others a mysterious smile and then swiftly pulled back the handkerchief.
Beneath the handkerchief, the nuclear fusion core and the machine, both on the verge of explosion, had vanished!
"Oh, God, this is not scientific at all."
Otto, who had been resigned to his fate, was completely stunned when he saw the nuclear fusion core and the machine disappear from under the handkerchief.
